  1. I am continually amazed at how this topic keeps coming up. Since when do the kids call the shots? In our house it was "here is where we are going. here is what you will wear and here is how you will behave" Long before the electronic stuff.... no way would there be crayons and puzzles and doodads brought to a dining table. I agree with Pcardad about a lot of adult behaviors that are offensive. Kids aren't the ones saving pool chairs. They aren't saving theatre seats and trivia hour seats. I don't see kids walking out of the bathrooms right past the sinks. They probably don't have the tvs blasting in the cabin next door to me because of hearing problems. Whiners cover all ages. I crack up at the adults that drag around a cutesy bunch of stuffed animals into the dining rooms and put them on the table. To the people who keep suggesting Disney or Carnival, maybe someone should suggest Holland America. That is just as useful, pointed and unhelpful.
  2. One of them tries to and tries and tries.
  3. I see "the" logo is on this very site at the bottom of the page. There is a lot going on over there.
  4. Actually I was responding to the Original Poster who had asked about Regent tipping.
  5. We always tip our cabin crew.......as we get ready to disembark
  6. That's disappointing. Was it a loser fleetwide or ship specific and therefore scrapped all around?
  7. I think the topic may have been commented on in the ongoing, manic dress code thread.
  8. I saw that and would be interested in the answer. There also seems to be an ongoing problem with pool chair hogging which we find very frustrating and I'm hoping this is not going to continue to be a thing. Thanks
  9. While we like Silversea very much, I'm betting that the head office is aware of this thread and have chosen to allow a clearly weak and ineffective Captain to remain in charge. They should be concerned that he seems to be powerless and would be a problem in the event of an emergency. I personally don't care about the cigars as much as their refusal to enforce their own rules. There a lot of people on this site who have more cruise nights than I can possibly imagine and the fact that this issue is ongoing is very troubling. When there are no consequences, rules are useless.
  10. My sister stayed in one of those cabins recently and absolutely loved it....as a single.
  11. Good point. Unless mandated, I can't imagine staying on a ship for a whole cruise just to look at the port scenery.
  12. Wow..travel may not be the right thing for you at this time. The chances of coming in contact with "the great unwashed" on Oceana as you call them, may just be too stressful and dangerous.
  13. What a great idea! For your convenience and for those who are too stubborn or entitled to follow the rules...give them a jacket.... and charge for each use because as with all else...due to covid... they would have to be immediately cleaned for sanitary reasons. Dry cleaning charged to onboard account.
  14. Thank you for asking. A couple of semi miserable days upon return home and of course lost time at work.
  15. A family member of mine and the whole group she was traveling with came down with the virus also but no communication to the passengers. I was wondering why the thread started by Cruise Critic Chris sort of faded away with no discussions about the onboard problems. Very frustrating.
  16. They are also handy on hot, sunny days for walk along shade.
  17. Of course...poor attempt at humor. We are still in the group that wished that an opt out choice was available.
  18. I guess when you accept the "free" excursion choices there would be less options for complaints. The fact that you paid extra for something that wasn't remotely as advertised is really annoying. Is there a reason that they just won't admit the error and make things right? How many guests were on this excursion and were they also disappointed?
  19. I know that one company is called "rent the runway"
  20. I thought that this was an upcharge excursion and if so, a full refund should be in order. Nobody needs any more "free" booze or cookies.
  21. We agree with you 100% As a somewhat accomplished rider, I can imagine how absurd this excursion turned out to be. The fact that you had to pay extra makes it even more annoying. I will be following to see how they handle this. It's not like you can get a do over.
