Sox Fan Cruiser

There was a free form box because I ordered a full size cake for my husbands birthday (instead of the piece you get at dinner). As soon as we got there he pulled me aside and asked what day we wanted it. So it does work sometimes. But again don’t worry about it if you don’t get the email.

Some times we get the email and some times we don't. It's not really a big deal. It asks 4 or 5 questions such as 1) What temp do you want your room set at before you arrive or 2) do you want your complimentary bottle to be red wine, white wine or champagne. All things that can be taken care of as soon as you get there.

I would say that most people don't drive to the cruise terminal (my own opinion) and we would never take a Princess transfer from the airport. We fly a day early and uber to port so this is perfect for us. The population is small to begin with. And if you do one of those methods to get to the terminal, you might as well just go right there. It's not a terrible experience anymore anyway. I will definitely take advantage of this in December and will be on the lookout for the phone call! 🙂

When I filter on just British Isles cruises (no date filter) only two cruises come up in 2024 (and two “Iceland and Isles which I’m not interested in). Does Celebrity not do more than that? Princess has a bunch of different choices. Should I be looking more at Princess for the variety?

It’s only in FLL right now as an experiment. In a penthouse suite in December so I hope we get the call! but I am curious what it entails. Do you ship all the lines and board directly or do they just take you to the front. I don’t need them for that. But if they get our medallion and do all the necessary check in work and we walk on the ship, I’m there!! And it’s not at their HQ, they just rented some space in a building.

In the olden days of key cards you could as long as you had their card. Not sure with the medallion anymore. My guess is no. (all around Boston teams supporter. Not just the Sox. Live in JP in Boston.)

Yes the partitions open. But every once in a while there is a solid wall. Cabin numbers would help us determine that for you. You can not book the Sanctuary ahead of time. As soon as you board, you go directly there. There will already be a line. And anyone doing a back to back from the previous cruise will already have booked it. The Royal class ships have a much smaller Sanctuary so I wouldn’t get my hopes up. They are usually sold out even by the time Elites get onboard. But try anyway. We always sit in Take 5 each night. Some bands are better than others. No coffee machine allowed. Yes, pizza and burgers are free.

Funny thing is that I had to check which board this thread was on. Celebrity is having a major identity crisis as well and the loyalists are not happy about it. X is also pushing towards a younger generation as well with the Edge class ships and their changing of itineraries. Celebrity's demographic history is even slightly older than Princess. There is already a lot of talk on that board about moving somewhere else. Funny thing is that some folks are saying to go to Princess.

My favorite part about cruising is being on the water. Sea days are perfect for that. I avoid the main pool as i don't like the noise and all the people interaction. So I will find places where I can see the water, whether that's my balcony, the sanctuary or some other quiet area of the ship such as the retreat pool or the wake pool. Then I reach into my backpack and grab my ipod, or my kindle or my sudoku book and enjoy. Maybe I pull out my German exercise book or have a quiet conversation with my hubby. every once in a while, I will nap for a little bit. When I get a little hungry, I find some food and then find another place to the repeat the above. That is what a sea day means to me. Can not wait for my TA in Nov 2024!!

I’m curious why it’s called an “Oktoberfest European Capitals” cruise. None of those cities celebrate Oktoberfest.

I had 6 cabins all linked together and could see everyone’s reservation. I could not check in for them as they need their passport info and such but I was able to pick everyone’s arrival time so it was the same.

I don’t think it is. The buffet is on deck 9. This speaks of a real dinning room. I guess we will have to wait and see. So much still up in the air. I’ll check it out in April!!

Sorry, I don’t want ice shows and diving shows or sing along piano bars on my cruise. Celebrity does a great job of smaller acoustic guitar and small band sets. To each his own. That’s why they have different cruise lines. I sure as heck don’t want to see Cats on a cruise!

I thought I remembered when the Royal Class first came out, we were teased with a TON of videos and other things from Princess getting us all excited for the new design. We are only 6 months away from from the Sphere class and almost nothing. I think more Princess customers are posting things than Princess. Am I mistaken about the Royal Class rollout or just too excited to see this new ship?

Good point. I sail in December so I need to wait until they are back from Europe. 🙂

On Celebrity they give you a choice of a bottle of wine or champagne. One of our friends chose the red wine. It was disgusting! I’m no snob but it was undrinkable. I also think this “free” sparkling wine in bad but that experience was unforgettable for all the wrong reasons! 🤪

Didn’t think of that. I suppose you could talk to the head of Blu and explain the situation. Assure them that the other couple won’t be coming to Blu at all. The person may allow the switch without much concern at all.

One thing about Blu though. They don’t ask for your names just the room number. So in theory, you and your wife could go to Blu and the other couple could go the main dinning room. Fudging the system a little but it’s still only 2 people eating in Blu.

They already told us that there will be a reduction in fare based on the reduction in days. Not sure why you would think they wouldn't adjust the price. I know a lot of Celebrity fans are getting really upset by all the changes. I choose to just breath and see where all this takes us.

No problems at all. I also refuse to wear it as an accessory and just keep it with that clip in my pocket. Easy. Once in a while the scanner can’t find it at the bar but I just grab in my hand and it works perfectly.

Yes, cabin numbers would help. But on the Apex in March we had 6 Sky suites in a row and had one big balcony as they opened the partitions.

We have a penthouse suite on deck 17 at the corner. Looks like a severe overhang on our balcony. We aren’t excited about that but not going to let it affect our wonderful cruise. That’s what you get when you book sight-unseen. Bring it on!!
