  2. Here are a couple recent reviews on Venezia. I'd avoid Thanksgiving week, but rest of month should have fewer kids. Also agree, longer cruise better for your purposes.
  3. I've seen a couple great recent reviews on her, and didn't see much of concern. I agree, early reviews concerned me. I'm sailing Oct 4, and the only thing that I'm still concerned about is the casino smoke. I've always had an issue with that on all ships I've been on. It seems like you have to walk thru casino to get places, and smoke hits me like a wall. My concern with the Venezia reviews is that smoke apparently invades other areas of the ship. I'll reserve judgement and hope it's not bad.
  4. I think the CBD thing is relatively new. I used a CBD salve on my cruises from 2018 to 2020, but it's likely that pot has become so commonplace that the dogs were alerting to CBD too often, so they banned it all. I'd agree, not worth taking the risk.
  5. Sounds like a longterm change, possibly they have found that the port is efficient enough to board people more quickly than anticipated or other longterm issue that necessitated the change.
  6. Not according to the searches that I did, apparently Apple uses a completely different system which isn't compatible.
  7. Take a look at this review from a couple of weeks ago. The itinerary was different, but I imagine the menu is similar.
  8. Bookmarking this site I sail on Oct 4. https://www.nhc.noaa.gov/index.shtml
  9. The price difference is probably because you chose wrong room. If other room is still available, Carnival might be able to move you to it, especially if it's an upgrade.
  10. Keep in mind that crowds are a big part, especially on emarkation/debark. Personally, I'd avoid during school holidays because of the number of screaming kids. More port days over more sea days would be good for your kid's age bracket imo. I don't think that the experience of Norwegian over Carnival is worth that big of price difference.
  11. Found this on an apple board. "You would need to be using some other online based messaging service such as Skype, Whatsapp, or FB messenger to message Android devices over Wifi." so if you know who you will want to text, you should be able to each install an app in advance and text each other.
  12. Yes, but who is going to replace the dylithium crystals?(ST)
  13. Thx, will try that. I love mobile hotspot, but thought that was dedicated to cell carrier network.
  14. Ok, now you folks have me wanting to do this cruise, it's only 500 more than my current cruise (solo), and 5 days more. Kind of curious as to the experience, will look for detailed reviews
  15. Great post. I always take more credit cards than I use, and keep extras in safe, but not with a plan in mind. Your post reminded me I need to plan accordingly. I usually keep one credit card with passport and DL and another CC separate. Also break up my cash into different locations as well.
  16. Senior moment (first time I've used that excuse). Edited post, go with Jamaica.
  17. You specifically used mobile Hotspot to do it? We're you using wifi to get internet at the time?
  18. I think based on the testing I did, I had to tether to the phone rather than mobile Hotspot because Hotspot uses Verizon's network. That will likely be what I'll do, because I HATE the process of switching the connection back and forth between my devices.
  19. Thanks to both of you on followup. I need to pt some thought into what I'm going to do on debark.
  20. Anyone done shore excursions in Jamaica lately? https://www.thestreet.com/travel/popular-royal-caribbean-and-carnival-port-on-reconsider-travel-list
  21. Great Idea If I do this will def write my name on it. Will def ake down when not in use onboard as well, good info
  22. Saw announcement about newInternet plan. Not really worth it IMO unless you have 4 people in party, and even then, not much savings.
  23. No way you are getting an 8 day cruise for 200.
