  1. For reasons I cannot fathom, I can’t get on the Uk Princess site. Would you mind telling me the price for a D4 category now? Thank you for any help
  2. Maybe not for you, but I still cannot access it. I have cleared cookies, I am based in U.K. and don’t have a VPN. And I am a returning customer and have never had a problem before booking with them, although always previously ex Southampton. I’ve given up and contacted my cruise agent.
  3. There is nowhere on that middle screen shot to click to get to a cabin price listing …. The cruise I want to book starts and ends in USA.
  4. I put in the website www.Princess.com. I select the cruise and it only shows a lead in price for an inside. And a message 'find a travel agent' click on that, enter UK and it gives Carnival House address. Click on travel agent locator on 3rd page and we go back to entering country of residence… I have given up. I just want to see cabin availability, why is it now so difficult or am I doing something wrong.
  5. I have totally failed in trying to find the U.K. website address. I have going round and round on the US site which basically directs you to Carnival House. Can someone, anyone please put me out of my misery and give me the website address so that I can check availability and £ prices for a cruise departing in August from Las Angeles!
  6. It all depends on your attitude to risk. The cabins which people perceive to be in the best locations are booked first by those who choose to pay extra for the luxury of choice. If you are paying to select your cabin, you are not going to choose to be in a poor location or a deck with potential noise issues. So it follows that the guarantee cabins are likely to be in the areas where no- one has selected their cabin. If you are happy to risk potentially being below the swimming pool are, above the pub, theatre or opposite a service area etc etc then take the cheaper option. There is always a chance that someone has cancelled last minute and a good cabin will be allocated to you, but don’t rely on it. Personally, the thought of a three week cruise stuck under the pool with chairs being thrown around at 5am in the morning isn’t worth any saving, however large. But for other people it won’t be a problem. So, do you feel lucky…
  7. If they want to change anything, then I wish they would review the deposit terms and conditions. Like a lot of people as they get older, we have health problems. We don’t book far ahead, because the deposit at 15% is too significant to willingly lose and we have no idea whether we will be able to even get insurance in 2 years time. A reduced deposit offering would be tempting, amd even more tempting would be the T&C's that our friends across the pond get offered.
  8. I am in agreement with a number of the detailed omissions that you have mentioned, which were similar to our recent QM2 experience. With regard to ballroom dancing, Carnival have serious debt issues and they will have to look at every possible source of onboard revenue to squeeze the last dollar out of passengers. Inevitably this will include a review of the use of the large public areas. If the Queens room doesn’t pay its way ( I have no idea) when used for ballroom dancing, then they are going to seek out other options. An alternative inclusive evening venue where entertainment can be staged for those people who don’t go to the shows might be one alternative. A bit of karaoke here, dancing girls there and people propping up the bar might just be their idea of a good money spinner. Who knows
  9. We are arriving midnight to avoid the bad weather. Change of terminal expected as air bridge out of action so arrival changed to Queen Elizabeth terminal.
  10. There are very few people or staff wearing masks onboard. In the theatre last night maybe 10 people with masks. Internet is variable. An outage yesterday for several hours and no internet in our cabin at any time, we are midships deck 5. Food has been excellent as has the service, I think the captain said 2163 passengers onboard for this trip with an even mix of British and American. We have the National symphony orchestra on board as well as the Royal Shakespeare company whose production of Joan Littlewood was incredible, as are their workshops. Guest speakers include Giles Ramsay and Dr David Mannion. We have had a comedian in the Theatre and a singer who won X factor in China, so a varied entertainment package.
  11. There is a ferry dock right next to pier 12. You could take a ferry over to the Financial district and visit Battery Park and the 9/11 memorial. It would minimise the walking an keep you close to the terminal. If you haven’t been to the 9/11 Memorial and museum, I can highly recommend it.
  12. I should clarify that it is no mandatory testing, they still recommend taking a test.
  13. Just had an email form Cunard. no testing for our cruise M234 transatlantic in October
  14. #21 We are having a few days in Washington before our Transatlantic next month. We have a train booked to get us to New York, but I will certainly make a note of your resourceful solution, should we encounter any delays. Congratulations on making the crossing, but what a nightmare!
  15. I am not sure what to make of this thread and where we would be classified! We will fly out first class for a journey of 8 hours then spend 7 days in a Britannia cabin. I have a feeling that the extra cost of flying first class would have probably paid for the Grills upgrade. However my wife flies under great duress and this is where we choose to spend our money. Comfort comes in many forms.
  16. Going transatlantic eastbound NY to Southampton on QM2. Just a few random questions about seating at dinner, given that early is fixed and late is now anytime dining. I know the clocks change at midday so I'm wondering particularly if 6pm dining will feel too early. Which sitting do people currently prefer and why? Which is the more popular choice? How easy is it to get a table for two on 6pm fixed seating ? I know it can be allocated according to date booked, but I was wondering if there are more tables for two now available given the changes for Covid. Anytime dining. Same question. Will I have to start queuing at some ridiculous time to secure a table for two or can I request it on the first night as a regular arrangement. Any recent experiences to share would be welcome , thank you
  17. We have just booked on a QM2 in a BV grade on deck 5. Which cabin number were you in before being moved? I will not be happy if we are moved after waiting so long
  18. I think it is because you are on a segment of a cruise which includes Canadian ports, where tests are still necessary. It would be difficult to have a cruise where some people have to test and others don’t. Maybe?
  19. Enhanced requires supervised Covid test. Having Canada ports on the itinerary requires this.
