  1. @SusieAV8R I want to warn you now…your luggage will increase exponentially. The long gowns, nice dresses, hand bags, scarves, not to mention Tux, extra shirts, braces, multiple ties, regular suit(s)…oh, and don’t forget the special shoes. Great fun, but be sure to look up Luggage Forward. Worth every penny to not schlep an extra suitcase. Start shopping today. It is never too early. Have Fun!
  2. @SusieAV8R We’ve only cruised QG twice, once on a TA and once a 7-day NY - NY. DH always wore a suit, perhaps not always with a tie, but never would have thought to wear a polo to dinner even under a suit coat.
  3. @Windsurfboy Thanks for your response. I liked the midship position better than the Q5’s. I don’t need special treatment, but I’m sorry to hear the Q5’s have a nicer balcony, but it’s only 3 nights so we’ll see.
  4. This thread has caused me to book a Q3 rather than a Q5 on Queen Elizabeth. I need to experience this myself. DH doesn’t understand.
  5. @Bigmike911 What has happened in Maui is very very sad. So many lost lives. Church friends have family on Maui and were telling stories of how they are supporting the community. I just read an article in the Wash. Post about the possible environmental impact on the coral reefs around Maui.
  6. Just booked a 3 nighter on Queen Elizabeth for September 2024. Vancouver, B.C. to San Francisco. This will be our first cruise on QE and we booked a Q3 on deck 6.
  7. @9tee2Sea You’ll have luggage by 5:30, you don’t say how you’re getting downtown, but I would think you’d be to the Mayflower no later than 7:00. There are lots of places around the Mayflower to catch a quick dinner, including downstairs. If you really want to eat at SeaTac the easiest is just before you leave the secure area there is a restaurant at the C gates. But remember, your baggage is going to be down there going around and around unattended.
  8. @eileeshb I can’t say I’ve driven by the Belltown Inn recently because it is on 3rd Ave. which is reserved for buses, which is one reason it could be called a sketchy area, there is a lack of foot traffic, cars, businesses. There is also a park across the street that sometimes is a place of concern, but there are police cars monitoring. You are also on Bell street has become more of a place for pedestrians. 2nd ave is a very busy street with lots of restaurants and bars as is 4th ave. There was a horrible murder in Belltown about a month ago and it shocked everyone in town. It’s like any place else - be alert, walk with purpose, don’t engage with people and use 2nd or 4th to get to your destination.
  9. In 2 weeks I’ll be on Quantum of the Seas with 10 1/2 year old grandson. I’ve never cruised RCCL. We cruised Alaska on Solstice last summer and he did great. I just bought him a phone because I thought we would be able to use RCCL messaging on board. I’ve read all of the posts in this thread and I think I’m understanding that he won’t have his own account to message me. Is this true? We’ll both have an internet plan so I hope we can just send regular text messages. Any thoughts? (He will not be running around unattended, but I want him to be able to go get pizza or soda or ice cream and bring it back to where we are sitting)
  10. We’ve had a window 2-top and a one away from the window 2-top. I think I actually preferred the one away. I liked having people on both sides of us and we didn’t feel like people were watching us.
  11. Ditto NE John above regarding wine tastings. They sometimes won’t schedule it if they don’t hear enough interest. If you mention you are interested they will ask others if they are interested and the tasting may happen. Happened to us on a TA December 2022.
  12. @david,Mississauga In defense of @TheOldBear the bisque that was served really wasn’t good. It had nothing to do with what the style is you are accustomed to. The soups in QG are really really good and I always order them. But the lobster bisque in December was not good. My post #8 describes the lack of lobster. True lobster bisque is made with the stock of the lobster shell, and that means it has the pink/red color.
  13. @Victoria2 What page are on you on in Sashenka?
  14. @exlondoner In July, QM2, no drill. You report to your station and have your card scanned.
  15. @Ray66 Thanks for the post. I have purchased all 23.
  16. In December, 2022 the lobster bisque was not what I call a lobster bisque. It was white with rice sized bits of lobster, not good at all. In July, 2023, QM2, QG, it was back to being true lobster bisque with hunks of lobster half the size of my full thumb. I mentioned the problem in December or Osman and complimented the chef through him for the improvement.
  17. @Ray66 I don’t think I agree with you. The masts are wrong and it’s a much smaller ship. What about the dericks, I think that’s what they’re called, aren’t on a cruise ship ocean liner.
  18. The only place I’ve felt cramped is in Ketchikan. We docked right down town and the sidewalks were packed as were the jewelry stores. Don’t ask me how I know that!
  19. @LibertyBella Thanks for all of your great information. I am especially interested in the problem with the FF miles since that’s what we use when we fly international. I’m going to have to read the fine print.
  20. I was glad to receive the email. I wish it told us if we have to use their notarized form or if we can use our own. Guess I was hoping for too much.
  21. @frankp01 You mentioned having miles on one of the airlines. Can you use the miles at the lower rate quoted with Cunard? We’ve flown business on BA using miles in the past and haven’t looked into Cunard air.
  22. There are medical issues that may require a quick exit from a dining table. I am aghast that people would have negative thoughts if a person left the dining table/room without explanation or in haste. Please ignore and enjoy your dinner.
  23. @NE John I’m wondering if there is another one with a different number. The Cunard teddies are below it.
