  1. @Victoria2 I love historical narrative history. The book received really good reviews and I saw there was a Wikipedia page. I’m ordering it in a few minutes.
  2. Sashenka looks like an interesting story. Is it well written @Victoria2?
  3. @NE John and @D&N Yes, we are guilty of the wine picture which is how we share our love of fine wine on a thread dedicated to it. I am sure we are careful when we take our pics to not bother others around us. Repeat after me: I pledge to take pictures of fine bottles of wine using stealth and lack of flash…
  4. @Victoria2 I hope it isn’t painful, but I bet the sanitizer on broken skin doesn’t feel good. I’m glad they’ve sorted out a solution for you in the next port. What book are you reading as you relax on your veranda?
  5. I love my hot water pot on Cunard! I will be asking for one in September.
  6. The speakers in the piano is just too much. You are correct that Yamaha makes a unit you can install on their grand pianos that will actually play the keys. Speakers are tacky. We have our first Oceania cruise this September, and it would be like me to go for the Owner’s Suite for our next cruise. Thank you very much for your post and I’m sorry the suite was a disappointment.

  8. Bus #24 stops on the Magnolia Bridge to pick up cruise passengers, at that point it isn’t crowded. I didn’t know it went all the way to the Museum of Flight. Good to know. Enjoy!
  9. I have asked for a letter stating a passport is not required for a minor to travel a closed U.S. to U.S. route to Alaska. I have also informed my TA I will want a full refund if a passport is required as it was not required at the time of booking, their website states it is not required in my case, and I have not been notified that it IS required.
  10. Just heard from my TA. She is looking into it more. But, she believes because we are on a closed loop U.S. to U.S. we don’t need the passport. When she gets back to me I’ll post her response.
  11. @S.A.M.J.R. I see the letter and reference to passport. Perhaps if you are traveling to a country other than Canada a passport is required. I have not received the letter and we cruise on Aug. 28.
  12. If a cabin comes open they can quickly fill it from people who have made bids. I would assume the person with the highest bid wins. 😉 We bid on an upgrade from Q5 to Q4 and got it. I just won a bid on Royal Caribbean for a cabin that was sold out at the time I booked the cruise. In both cases I did my homework to locate possible cabins to ensure I wasn’t too far forward or aft.
  13. According to my Seattle TA: 1 - The RC form is not required, but a notorized letter with all of the information as outlined on their website is required. (See my post #53) 2 - Passport is not required. Birth Certificate will work. If the child has a school id with picture bring it along.
  14. I think the RC website is pretty clear regarding a letter and birth cert. or passport. What is unclear is if the accompanying adult signature needs to be notorized. I would guess the form was created with no thought to that detail. I would also bet the form was created to make things easier for us as well as the people having to check all of this at security. Rather than looking for all of the important information on my home created letter the security person can quickly look at a form and ensure all of the blanks are filled in.
  15. I’ve sent an email to my TA regarding all of this and asked her to contact RC. 1 - Do have to use the RC form or can we use a letter of our making? (We used our own last year) 2 - Does the accompanying adult need to have the signature authorized also or is just the parents notorized signature that is required? (Doesn’t make sense to require accompanying adult sig) 3 - Are passports required or is a birth certificate sufficient as it has been in the past?
  16. Just got me email saying my bid was accepted. We went from an extended balcony to a juniors suite that shows as a +5. I bid the max because I really wanted a bigger cabin, so this is not a good example for bidding low and getting lucky.
  17. This is exactly what happened last summer as we disembarked the Solstice in Seattle. I was traveling with our 9 year old grandson, I had the notorized letter and BC. He was asked who he was and what my name was. I am traveling in less than a month on Quatum to Alaska with our 5 year old grandson, he does not have a passport. I hope the notorized and letter and BC will suffice.
  18. @NE John Alas, I do not subscribe to Apple TV. The trailer looks good.
  19. @mirrs20 International Flights. That I do not know. Have you checked the ports website?
  20. Local grandparent here…Aquarium is great, but buy your tickets ahead for timed entry. It is very crowded this time of year due to cruise ships at the dock on Saturday and Sunday. Go to the market, but get there early because the main aisle becomes almost impassable, I know because we buy our groceries there every Saturday morning. Forget the gum wall, yuck. They throw fish every day, but walk around the corner and get some baby donuts for the 6 year old. Museum of Flight is fantastic, our 3 year old loves it, but be sure to walk across the street and see the out door planes. Pacific Science Center is always a hit with kids and there’s lots of room for them to run around on the grass. BUT the weekend you are here makes a huge difference because there are huge events at the center and I wouldn’t go near it. I hate moving between hotels, that’s why I cruise, so I would take a shorter ride at night to downtown, sleep in, and get up refreshed and ready to explore Seattle. By staying downtown you can ride the Monorail to the center, or the SLUT, South Lake Union Train, down to Lake Union to the Boat Center.
  21. How about sending your luggage using the port valet? That would allow you to skip going to Sea Tac and then going back down the hill to South Center Mall. Take an Uber to the Museum of Flight, then another Uber to the mall.
  22. Since I live in Seattle I’ve haven’t spent a night in any of these, but from location I would choose the Paramount. The Hyatt is on Denny which is super busy and across from a park that sometimes has troubled souls. The Paramount is closer to dining and shopping.
  23. I wonder about the cash tips we provide at the end of the cruise.
  24. Embarked in Brooklyn end of June. Your car pulls up, you get out, the trunk opens, very strong men remove the luggage from your car and put it on trolleys. You see it next in your cabin.
  25. Thanks for the link to the article @MrsPeel55.
