Hello Captain Wonderful, This is a happy place, videos and memories of happy times cruising. This thread is for happy people who want to look back and forward to happy times while vacationing and cruising. Take your vibe kill, unhappy demeanor, and your negativity to another bridge under which you can live and to troll from, there are plenty other Places to spread your negativity on here.

Go talk about vaccines and E.U. policies and all that somewhere else. This isn’t the place.  I was happy to see this thread, it made me smile and it should stay that way.

Thank you! Those who want to discuss vaccines, masks, etc. please start your own thread or contribute to many other threads on the board.

Given the restrictions the EU wants I will not be cruising again while such restrictions are in place.

There are plenty negative posts on this board already.  We need a little "happy" to get us through tough times.

Let's keep THIS thread uplifting and positive.

The video is not exactly expressing a current sentiment...it's from 2014.

    I know it's from 2014.

19 years ago after 9/11 happened people also were terrified and thought that cruising will never be the same. Well, cruising industry bounced back and people were enjoying cruising again.

To my family this short video brings back great memories, lift our spirit and gives hope we'll enjoy our favorite vacation again.

Tough times will pass.  I believe We WILL be cruising again!

  4. Hi Radio!

Do you know that people are searching for you and you reviews on the Royal Caribbean board?

Your great reviews are the topic of discussion on the " Let's link to our favorite reviews" thread.

Come join the thread and let everybody know you are still around and plan to do more reviews :)

  5. As for many who love cruising it became quite depressing not to have a cruise to look forward to.  For years I enjoyed many and had so much fun reading detailed and fascinating reviews by fellow cruisers. I learned about new ships and even booked some of the cruises after reading reviews on these boards.

One day we WILL be cruising again .

In a meantime....How about we share links to the most memorable reviews we found on Cruise Critic?

I'm trying to find reviews from a Canadian couple who were doing B2B2B2B on carnival ships. I remember they were members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, had 2 teenage kids. Their reviews were phenomenal, with a lot of pictures and great details. I believe the husband's name was Mike. LOVE his reviews and would love to find the links to enjoy them again. Maybe someone remembers them :)

  8. Well, for all of you who trust and follow recommendations of the World Health Organization.... On March 9 WHO announced the following:

"If you do not have any respiratory symptoms, such as fever, cough, or runny nose, you do not need to wear a medical mask. When used alone, masks can give you a false feeling of protection and can even be a source of infection when not used correctly."

Watch a video DIRECTLY from the source...

We have done Blogs each year since we started doing World Cruising.

Keith, I've followed at least 4 of your WC blogs and enjoyed all of them tremendously. At the end of your last cruise you mentioned to your readers to check back in the middle of December. I keep checking your website for the start of your new adventure. Are you planning to do another blog?

When I have a service charge automatically added to the bill, I ask if the staff get 100%, if they say no, I ask for it to be removed and I add the same amount (or more) as a tip.

I didn't realize that service charge on the bill can be removed. I thought it's mandatory, no questions asked, and then I can tip above if I want to. So it was always removed from your bill when you asked?

  11. OP, I feel the same about our recent NCL experiences on Dawn and Escape. The level of service is way down from what it used to be. Those little touches that made cruising with NCL special are dissapearing, little by little. We are also reconsidering our booked cruises with NCL.

no more bar soap or lotion. Only available on request now per our cabin steward, ditto with ice buckets and towel animals which have been discussed here before.

We know about these "upon requests" items because many of us are seasoned cruisers. What about people who never cruised before? How would they know to request these things? Is it mentioned anywhere in cruise documents?

Also few months ago we were on Dawn and wondered what happened to the Fairwell Show we used to see at the end of every NCL cruise? Well, after the cruise I asked about it here and someone who was on the same cruise posted that the show was at the end of the last performace: as usual "we aree the family" song, crew members on stage and all that. Apparently we missed it.

So this time we decided to go to the last show of the cruise to make sure we see the lovely ending of our cruise. Well, there was no Farewell Show. Nothing. So I'm asking again.. Did NCL took away this Farewell performance, at least  on the big ships?

  13. We are planning our first MSC cruise. Are those that you call "experiences" equal the same as "perks" on other cruiselines? Like perks for Platinum level on NCL for example or it's something different? Is YC  an equivalent to Haven on NCL in fact that it is a separate part of the ship with their own restaurants, pool area and such? I'm just trying to understand if YC experience is just a different name for the comparable exclusive experience on other  lines?

  14. We just off the Escape and discovered new changes since our Escape cruise in March of this year.

There are no more beach towels left by an attendant for you in the cabin. We were informed by our cabin attendant this was implemented just 2 weeks ago. Now you have to go to the deck 16 pool area if you want these towels and then return them afterwards. Quite an inconvenience if you have few beach days in port one after another.

We were looking for a little nice voucher booklet with our Platinum perks for specialty restaurants. We couldn't find it until we saw that those vouchers are now a simple printout on a piece of paper. Another little touch lost.

I know I'll get the responses "go get your own towels!", "who needs nice paper for the vouchers" and such. Every time we cruise with Norwegian something is taken away, little by little, and IMO it's cheapening the whole experience.Well, this is MY opinion and  things along with non-existing towel animals and such it's what made cruising special for us.

Just off the Escape they did not enforce no cigarette smoking in the cigar lounge. There were so many people smoking cigarettes in there that the cigar smokers didn't want to go in. NCL should give cigarette smokers their own indoor smoking lounge.

Was on the same cruise. My husband was asked to leave the cigar lounge because he smokes cigarettes. The only place for smokers is on 17th deck at the outdoor bar. It was always crowded.  In the casino there were announcements that people were allowed to smoke only if they were active players.

I've sailed approximately 11 times with NCL. Somewhere around my 6th cruise I was on the Dawn and finally understood why people complained about food. Everything was cheaply done, underseasoned, and a lot of dishes intended to be hot were served cold. Since that cruise, our food has been at least "very good" on every sailing with just some minor issues here and there.

So, I think sometimes the chef and kitchen staff can impact a ship's individual quality.  Had I judged the whole cruise line on that one experience, I'd have missed out on some great cruise food!

We were on Dawn 2 months ago. Out of all NCL cruises (Platinum here) this was the worst food we ever experienced. We are not picky eaters by any means but the food was overall pretty bad. Limited choices, bland, the soups were not edible a few times we tried them. Even in LaCucina and The Bistro the dishes were not up to par with our previous visits. It was definitely a surprise.
