  1. We're a pair of retired, quiet people who don't value ostentation and definitely devalue pretention. Casual is what we like and what we look for. Having said that, I'll now say that I prefer Princess over Carnival. I like Carnival, and we've cruised several times on Carnival. Our first cruise was on Carnival. But Princess just pleases me more. More quiet people than rowdy people. Dress standards on Princess have relaxed over the years to the point that I've told hubby first that a full suit was no longer required for formal nights, only a shirt and tie, then recently I've told him that only a dress shirt and decent slacks are required. No tie needed. This isn't a problem with dining room staff. Funny thing is that on our cruise this April he forgot his dress slacks and went into the dining room on formal night in a nice pair of jeans and a dress shirt, top two buttons unbuttoned. No problems with that. He's a very happy camper these days. On Princess, there's also the bed thing. Those beds are wonderful!
  2. I haven't stayed in that cabin, but I have stayed in a mid-ship cabin right next to the mid-ship elevators. We never heard a thing.
  3. I'd like to know this as well. We've actually never had one of these (or noticed it if we did), but it is noted on one of our upcomings.
  4. I sure wouldn't want to lose it! That's two coffee packages for us.
  5. This looks like how I filled ours out back in April. That should be fine. Nobody ever asked to see it, other than Princess staff during embarkation.
  6. I like a window seat on the left side. This enables me to suck over into the window/side of the plane. It leaves my right arm free to move and do whatever. I don't need the arm rest and leave it to the person in the middle seat next to me.
  7. In all fairness, on the cruise before our last one, we ordered from room service and it arrived very quickly. We were in our first, and probably only, suite, so that might have had something to do with it. This last instance that I posted about showed "in progress" immediately and then never moved along for the nearly two hours I mentioned. They weren't answering the phone. So we moved along to the buffet before my husband went Donner party on me. Personally, I think I'd always be okay with an order taking an hour.
  8. Yes, we knew that, but having the guy turn up in the buffet was still a surprise. Getting the order at all after two hours was a surprise.
  9. Here's what I'd like to add about room service. They will track you down! On the Ruby last fall, we ordered lunch from room service. After a nearly two hour wait, my DH was done with that. He wanted to be fed! We went down to the buffet and got some food. We sat down and started eating. A room service guy showed up at our table with our lunch order! We didn't mean to make the poor guy run around tracking us down - we just couldn't see that our order was going anywhere. So, we gave up. We apologized to him, but I'm not sure that was called for.
  10. That's what I've always seen.
