  1. To all those who posted that it was raining in Ketchikan, based on our experience, we always say that if it's Ketchikan it must be raining. πŸ˜‚
  2. Probably oddly, but I've found my hiking boots come in handy not only for hiking but for keeping my feet warm on glacier viewing days. We always stay outside for most of that, and it gets pretty cold near the glacier.
  3. Answering my own question here. I found a cruise that those are available. I guess people have found out how nice they are and they're just mostly always booked.
  4. The Ruby has four of these cabins, and I really like them. Oddly, I can't get any of them to come up for any voyage, any number of people, and any date. I haven't gone through all sailings, but I've gone through a lot of them all the way out to early 2026. Has Princess taken these cabins out of service for passengers? Are they truly sold out for all the dates I've looked at? Thoughts anyone?
  5. If you're in a BD, you won't be assigned an obstructed view cabin. But you still might not like the upgrade. My suggestion is for you to look at all cabins on that ship that are a higher category and see if there're any that you really wouldn't like. I have no idea what those upgrade codes mean.
  6. I had no idea, so I went and looked. It definitely says "nonrefundable" in the terms and conditions, so I think that's how it is.
  7. I can't think of a single reason why I would want to do this. I hope everyone who can and does has a great time. πŸ™‚
  8. My thoughts are the this doesn't matter to me. But it's already on my radar that taxes and fees must be paid. I imagine that this is good for new cruisers.
  9. Yeah, I complained about that pizza thing at the time, but it doesn't really impact us. I have a pizza stone and make really good pizzas, so pizza on a cruise isn't that big a deal. Also, in all the years we've cruised, I could count on the fingers of one hand all the times we've had room service. So, the fact that there's a charge for that, either on a one-time basis or the entire cruise except for the breakfast order tag, also doesn't impact us. These two items do, however, make me wonder what's next.
  10. I agree with that, and that's exactly what I do. But I can't see what this has to do with my, admittedly paranoid, thinking that eventually only the buffet will be included in the base cruise price. That won't necessarily mean that we'll stop cruising, since I don't really cruise for the food. It may, on the other hand, be a hard sell for my hubby.
  11. To quote the Mandalorian, this is the way. On Cruise Critic, if a topic is worth endless discussion, it's worth endless discussion on multiple threads. Or so it seems. πŸ˜‚
  12. I think somebody ought to start a pool and sell squares. 🀣 My bet would be another swing and miss.
  13. It makes sense to me to roll it out month by month, but in that case they need to stop emailing me with a booking number for a cruise next February and telling me I can book on the first day anybody can.
  14. I just got that email, and I'm standing by, eagerly anticipating the timely and well-working completion of this. I'm sure it's going to be perfect, whenever they get it launched. Hah! πŸ€£πŸ˜‚
  15. So far, in my case at least, the only thing that Princess has managed to accomplish is to delete the reservations that I already had. This is for a cruise in February 2025. Any guesses as to whether they'll have this fixed by then?
  16. Well at least I'm still getting those never-ending pitches wanting me to apply for the Princess credit card. Which I have no intention of doing. But at least I'm still getting those. 🀣
  17. I've seen that here, but I can't remember where. This is the easy math I run every time. I add up the things I'll actually use in the packages and see how that compares to what it costs. For us, it's never financially attractive, so I don't buy the packages. But I do run the math every time I book.
  18. We cruised out of LA in April and arrived at LAX at about the same time you are. We had a short wait, certainly under a half hour and got on one of the first buses out. That puts you at the pier at somewhere in the neighborhood of 11:00. Ish. We were green lane and boarding was very quick.
  19. Yeah. That. It would be very easy to do - or it would be if they had any idea at all when it's going to happen.
  20. I hadn't heard that, but I don't disbelieve it. In that case, Princess shouldn't have sent me an email saying I could book on 6/17. They surely know when I'm cruising!
  21. If I say that Princess has fully lived up to my expectations on this will that be sarcastic enough? πŸ€£πŸ˜‚
  22. I haven't seen anybody here on any other the other threads or anybody in a FB group who's been able to set up reservations. Some people have called in and gotten it done. Is anybody here surprised it's not going like they said it would?
  23. Good to know. I wonder if I'm wasting my time. The cruise I'm trying to book for isn't until next February, and it would make sense if they rolled this out in stages. I'm only forging ahead on it due to strong preference on the part of my hubby for fixed dining.
