  1. You can look at port conditions on the port website πŸ˜‰ https://www.porteverglades.net/about-us/weather/ Right now they are in port conditions "Whiskey" (no prohibited operations). More at the link below https://assets.simpleviewinc.com/simpleview/image/upload/v1/clients/porteverglades/MSIB_22_007_Port_Condition_WHISKEY_Potential_Tropical_Cyclone_1_f02f2c3e-0e83-4aea-86ea-6858172d02be.pdf
  2. crew-center is reporting two crew members have been airlifted from the Summit due to chemical burns. Praying that they will be OK: "Two crew members from a cruise ship off the coast of Virginia Beach were evacuated by the Coast Guard to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital after suffering chemical burns. As stated by the Coast Guard, the two injured were on board the Celebrity Summit cruise ship approximately 69 miles from shore. The cruise ship contacted the Coast Guard Fifth District Command Center, which sent the crew of the Elizabeth City MH-60 Jayhawk Coast Guard helicopter to transport the injured. A doctor from the cruiser was also taken to the helicopter". https://crew-center.com/two-crew-members-chemical-burns-airlifted-celebrity-summit
  3. Thanks for another super "Saint Greg Production" and taking us along with you! Just wonderful and much appreciated! Sorry that you are Covid positive, but at least you didn't get the "other" thing that was going around the ship at the same time (well, at least not mentioned!). Hmm, if it was Noro and you had both, would that be a case of "CoNo"? πŸ˜„ BTW here's the info on the investigation for the "other" on the Splendor by the CDC Vessel Sanitation Program (77 pax, 16 crew) - they will eventually post their findings as to the cause. In 2019 there was an outbreak on a different line traced back to frozen raspberries, of all things! https://www.cdc.gov/nceh/vsp/surv/outbreak/2022/CarnivalSplendor_5-24.html
  4. And an exterior painting project on the Carnival Magic made people sick enough for the Coast Guard to investigate (so if trouble always comes in threes, that makes 3 ships and we should be all done now (knock on driftwood LOL): https://www.wtkr.com/news/coast-guard-looks-into-carnival-cruise-ship-passengers-feeling-sick-from-fumes
  5. The Shiplife on youtube has a video of an officer (can't get a good view to tell which one) discussing paint fumes with some passengers and what Carnival is going to offer them $$ (VERY nice compensation JMO) - that part starts about the 7:00 mark:
  6. Oh no! I just wondered if you had any knowledge of others reports on that sailing and had no idea that you would have any trouble too when I posted the link above. I sincerely hope you both feel better quickly!
  7. Thanks for the report! The comparisons always make for good reading, and help with planning future cruises. 😁 A funny thing was soon after I saw your report, I saw another 5/23 Quantum cruisers report over on the RCI board - but his was a bit different lol. Were you aware this was happening on your sailing? Here's a link if you haven't seen it:
  8. Oh I'm so sorry to read this sad news. Many prayers to your family, loved ones and friends.
  9. Sorry no firsthand knowledge here, but for others that haven't seen this yet, @Wendy&Grumpy posted this re the current NCL Gem sailing on the Greece Ports of Call thread showing NCL is NOT serving while in port:
  10. These ladies called it "cruise jail" πŸ™ƒ https://www.khon2.com/coronavirus/covid-in-hawaii-we-are-in-princess-cruise-jail-now/
  11. Thanks again for posting your thoughts throughout this entire experience because as I've grown older I've found preparation is a must for travel - at least have a plan in case the worst happens (travel insurance, high limit credit card, etc.) and your story just reminds me of that before we head out again. I'm glad Jair assisted you so capably, but I think we can all imagine it was his pleasure dealing with "good people" like you πŸ˜‰
