  1. ITA pointless now.  😉

OT PSA - yesterday when scheduling a home service appointment for my Whirlpool refrigerator the same "Have you traveled internationally in the last xx days" question was asked among the questions about Covid and your household. But the kicker was the last question "Have you been on a cruise in the last xx days?"! (I was so surprised hearing a question about cruising on there that I can't remember if they said 30, 60 or 90 days). But apparently Whirlpool won't schedule a home service appointment for you if you answer yes to cruising, so you better get those pesky appointments done before you sail LOL.

Has anyone yet experienced Covid 19 testing for Canadians leaving from Orlando to Canada?

I don't know if this will apply to you or not, but this poor Canadian had trouble (he also had a bit of trouble a couple weeks ago getting home on Celebrity😞

Just noting the Vista numbers were real if any doubts about those 😉

BELIZE CITY, BELIZE, Wednesday, August 11th, 2021:  Belize received the Carnival Vista today with 2895 guests and 1441 crew on board. As per the normal protocol, upon submission of the Maritime Declaration by the ship in anticipation of its call to Belize the ship reported that it had on board 27 positive cases, 26 of which were crew members and 1 passenger. As a result, the Minister of Tourism and Diaspora Relations, along with his team from the Ministry and the Belize Tourism Board, met virtually with officials from the Carnival Vista on August 10th, 2021 to discuss the notification that persons aboard the vessel tested positive for COVID-19.

This is ridiculous, every time we have a positive case we have to get upset? I'm done getting upset over this, especially if the cruises keep going regardless.

The cruises will keep going because their protocols are working 😊.

And I do applaud Celebrity for their transparency, unlike Carnival about the 27 cases on Vista where you heard... <crickets>

  6. From Seattle news:

More than half a dozen cruise passengers say they were not allowed to board a Royal Caribbean vessel because they are not vaccinated.

But they insist the cruise line told them all they needed was a negative COVID-19 test.

That cruise ship set sail Friday night. And it left behind some very upset passengers. They say Royal Caribbean made them feel anything but welcome.

Here’s a news feature from an Atlanta news station about mother and daughter (20), Andrea and Rachel McArthur, who were in the crash:  Story

Sincere condolences to the loved ones. Heartbreaking.

The article says "Andrea was a flight attendant with Delta for over 30 years" - this struck me when imagining the number of flights she took over all those years and then to have this happen. Many prayers to all and to their families.

from doing our own research my husband/daughter both negative need to quarantine for a minimum of 7 days as long as they continue to test negative.  My husband could fly home at any time since he is fully vaccinated but because my daughter is not is the reason for 7 days. My son and I are here for 10 to 14 days, We are hoping for 10 days depending on testing.  The only assistance Carnival gave us was a list of eight hotels to potentially contact, they did waive the phone call fees as well as give me free 24-hour internet.  ironically many of the phone numbers were not correct have we ended up finding the hotel on our own not via the list that we received. We were also responsible for our own transportation to our quarantine hotel I informed Carnival that most likely I would have to hire an ambulance they did not want an ambulance at the port and therefore did provide us with transportation to our hotel.

@deweytrader you should look at this thread of someone positive on Royal's Adventure of the Seas and how it was handled:

Are those the B2B passengers who were tested positive at the end of the previous cruise?

I can't wrap my head around this. If the cruise line says you're getting off, you're getting off, period. 😵

If it is the tested positives, maybe they have to go to a quarantine hotel (like Carnival did in Texas for a family off the Breeze) and they're fighting that? Or maybe they're like the positive lady on the Royal ship who was put off kicking and screaming - and vlogging the whole way. It will be interesting to hear the details.

Breeze just left Galveston about an hour ago, currently in route to Cozumel. Wonder if the report was from a previous cruise?

Yes @deweytrader posted her family was one case and she knew about another. She's from CT and her family is now in a quarantine hotel in Texas for 7-10 days:

Look for deweytrader's posts starting at #21 (it's a Vista thread but she was on Breeze):

    - We have the Serenade of the Seas with us in Sitka. The shuttle to town was a bit chaotic at first, with passengers mingled from both ships, but was smooth from mid morning onwards. Some of the Serenade passengers ignored the mask requirement on our shuttle bus, though most complied.

This is sad when looking at the CDC chart. Don't get on another shuttle with them LOL

Yellow status means the ship has met the threshold for CDC investigation because the ship has met one of the following criteria:

at or above the investigation threshold for crew COVID-19 cases,

at or above the investigation threshold for passenger COVID-19 cases; or

state or local health department notified CDC of passenger COVID-19 cases occurring within 5 days of disembarkation.

Yep. JMO it's nice that Celebrity is transparent about all their cases (including Millennium in Alaska) so people will become more aware of the possibility and therefore it shouldn't be a shock if it happens on their sailing - plus we get to see the protocols working in action.

I do feel really sad for the people whose cruise ended this way though...

JMO, but as long as the pandemic exists, a cruise without at least one positive  case will be the exception; not the norm.

Totally agree with this, and hopefully most cruisers now realize this and there's no surprises. JMO with the sailings learning curve the cruise lines protocols will be constantly improved.

(OT even in our 21 story condo building in FL today a sign appeared in the elevator that a resident is in the hospital with COVID and that "you might want to wear your mask in public areas". I fully expect there will be more cases here and am thinking with the number of residents/tourists in and out of here daily it's the same as being on a ship, but with a lot less testing LOL)
