This makes me so angry! I’ve said on these boards in the past that this is not a positive experience for the dogs. As many of you know, I foster rescued Huskies and Samoyeds. They are not like Golden Retrievers or Labs. They are very high strung and easily annoyed with strange people and sounds. They can be quite dramatic and very vocal. This event is for photo ops only. I’ve sent letters to Princess, but it’s not an issue they care about. Please, if you’re on a ship with these puppies, keep yourself calm and quiet. Don’t grab them. Don’t try to kiss their faces. Don’t crowd around them too closely. The owners of these puppies should know better, but if you’ve been to one of the kennels in Alaska, you know what I mean. Sorry for the rant, but this issue is very close to my heart.

We just put in an upgrade bid from our standard mini to Reserve Class on Regal. Have not heard back yet, so who knows if it’ll be accepted or not. The only reason we put in a bid, which was a very low bid, was to get the dining convenience with no waits. Could care less about the other benefits.

We cruise predominantly in Northern Europe and the Mediterranean. Sadly, we’ve found that in order to experience regional cuisine, you have to rely on your ports. Princess tries to present menu items that at least hint at the area you’re cruising in, but not always successfully. We always make a point of visiting local eateries while in port. You cannot replicate pizza made in Italy!

Everyone is right, you won’t need winter boots in June. However, a good hiking shoe or even leather sneakers will suffice. You’ll be surprised at how warm it can get in Alaska. Personally, I’d leave the flip flops at home and replace with a light, mesh type sneaker or slip on shoe. That way you’ll have all types of weather covered.

Yes! Although that last morning I’m usually too sad to eat! lol.

We’re on the ship by about 11:00 am so we miss breakfast, but that’s it. Still lots of time to enjoy our first day. We certainly don’t feel cheated.

We’re always in a mini suite and I take my own hair care products. Some people are fine with the bottles of shampoo and conditioner, separate from the body wash, but my hair is silver and I use purple stuff. lol

Yes, they are provided, but if they’re not hanging in the closet when you embark, a quick word with your steward and you will have them.

My DH is a Brit, living in Canada, and he said that although tipping is not mandatory nor expected, any gratuity is much appreciated. We’ll be there in September and we will tip in restaurants, bars, cabs, tour guides and hotel people who help us out. We most always use a credit or debit card. They have tap and go technology, the same as we have in Canada. Cash will be offered as tips.

No one has to justify to anyone why and how they spend their money.

Actually, yes it is. Believe what you want. We know you don’t want or need the package and that’s fine. The best deal is the one that suits each individual according to their own needs.

May I ask why you don’t want to book the hotel yourself? Princess does offer a transfer/hotel package, but it’s much more expensive and the hotels are not ones I would choose, usually in locations not very desirable.

I don’t think so, because other members who share this experience are from all over the US. I’m sure my CVP would also know if this were the case.

Pretty much confirms that Princess will decide what, where, when and how much with no consistency whatsoever. My CVP gets very frustrated, but her hands are tied.

I wish that was the case. There is no such wording anywhere and even our CVP doesn’t have prior knowledge until she attempts a refare. I’m certainly not alone, as this scenario has played out many times with quite a few of our members on CC. It’s strictly hit and miss. Lucky for you, this has not been your experience. Sun Princess is the first Sphere Class ship to followed by Star Princess. An entirely new class of Princess ships and nothing like Royal class ships.

Actually, ALL of our cruises that I tried to refare were well before final payment. Our CVP explained that Princess will only refare certain sailings regardless of final payment date. So, not so easy in many cases.

We’ve had to do this a couple of times, although EZAir was not a factor. Had all Princess excursions cancelled and had to rebook them as well. There are times when you can just refare a current booking and keep the same perks, packages and OBC and other times you have to rebook and start again. Our CVP says that it just depends on the particular sailing. It’s quite frustrating, for sure.

Our 12 night Regal Princess mini suite in September is now $9500.00 Canadian and we paid $6800.00 Canadian.
