  1. NO. Let me repeat, NO.

One must be 25 to book a cabin. There are exceptions to the minimum 25 rule including married couples and military personnel. Obviously married couples with children are allowed.

As an example, a husband and wife ages 24 and 22 with a child are allowed as part of the exception.

When did this change? It used to be 21 to book on your own, and if under 21, then you needed someone 25+.

  2. Celebrated my wife and son's birthday on the Glory and nothing. No spa card nothing. Was a little disappointed after reading about the threads.

Still had a good cruise (but going to Disney for daughters birthday).

Make sure she gets a birthday button in any of the shops. I just got back from my first Disney trip for my 40th, and I never had so many people wish me a happy birthday[emoji3]

  3. Part of the problem is sailing over NYE. I felt many of the same things when I did my NYE cruise 5 years ago. If I hadn't done a fantastic Epic cruise 8 months prior, I may have blamed it on the ship as well. The ship is more full than usual due to school vacations and all berths occupied. The crew is tired from back to back holiday sailings and many may miss their families more due to the holidays. I will never do another holiday sailing again, but I have done several megaship sailings since (including 2 more Epic), and they were fantastic cruises.

  4. I now tend to plan for what would I need in the moment, not the week. So I pack a couple of different OTC meds (in small ziplock bags that are about 1 inch by 2 inches), a few throat lozenges, fold up scissors (I use these a lot and they are surprisingly good), a mini sized permanent ink marker, a couple of the key chain sized mini flashlights with a strong beam, can opener, mini sewing kit, band aids, and believe it or not, I still have about half the space left!

Can opener? Aside from the obvious, what do you do with a can opener, especially on a cruise?

  5. Let's not pretend Celebrity is a luxury vacation. It is a mass market cruise line, a small step above Carnival. No way near luxury; fair food, nice ships but crowded, decent entertainment, a slightly older clientele but not "uptight"

    Have a great cruise

Completely agreed. Granted, I only did one Celebrity cruise and it was 4 years ago, but I kept hearing how wonderful Celebrity is and how it's such a superior product to Carnival. I saw minimal difference. Buffet was a small notch up, MDR was comparable, service was similar, etc. Even the dress code wasn't a step up. Great cruise, nice product, but not a luxury product at all. I'd definitely do Celebrity again, but right now I'm loving Norwegian.

  6. What does everyone think about Haven guest trying to make a 11 or 11:50 flight out of FLL? It would be a domestic flight. Figure we should be one of the first off and we also have TSA pre check so those should help but still a bit worried

I'd go with the 11:50 just to be safe but you shouldn't have any issues with the ship. The problem is security. I flew back from FLL on 12/3 after a wonderful week on Escape and the pre-check line was longer than the regular line. The guy in front of me had pre-check; his wife did not. She was through several minutes before we were. FLL needs to be expanded. With all the megaships, the airport is overtaxed.

  7. Buffet was great on Escape. We tried Food Republic for lunch one day and even though it was OBC it was a waste of money, IMO. We tried the Lobster Roll (where was the lobster - mostly sauce?!?!?), California roll (OK) and the pork belly ramen (pretty good) but $20 and we left hungry and just went to the buffet. food republic was one spot I really wanted to try; glad I did, but not returning any time.

I also feel Food Republic is overrated. I found the meats overseasoned and fatty. The duck potstickers were great though, but while I will absolutely sail on Escape again, I won't return to Food Republic. I am allergic to shellfish and fin fish, which eliminated half the menu for me...maybe I would have enjoyed it more if I could eat seafood.

  8. We just got off the Breakaway 7-night Bahamas with our DD5 and DS7. We've done two Disney cruises in the past and LOVED them, but it's so expensive so we decided to give NCL a try this time. I'll admit I kept my expectations lowered compared to Disney, but I was wonderfully surprised to find out that with only a few exceptions, we actually loved NCL MORE than Disney!!! No line is perfect, of course, and I wouldn't pass on a Disney if it fell into my lap, but we will DEFINITELY be cruising NCL again as a family and at the end of the trip we agreed that the value add on Disney just wasn't worth the price difference. They definitely are two different vacations but you'll find lots to love on NCL. Have a great trip! :D

I was on the 11/26 sailing of the Escape. I met a lovely family on my flight down; we were on the same flight home, too. They had kids 6 and 8, had previously done one Disney cruise but the Escape cruise was 1/3 the cost of Disney! They enjoyed NCL more! Said the extra cost on Disney was not worth it. They enjoyed it so much that they booked another NCL cruise when our flight home got delayed!

  9. Yes, don't miss Food Republic. It's an a la carte restaurant that isn't covered by SDP. It's arguably the best restaurant at sea. It's open for lunch on sea days, as well as dinner.

I heard this before my 11/26 trip, so I went. I wasn't impressed. It was ok, but I wouldn't do it again. I found the meats fatty and over seasoned. I should state that I'm allergic to shellfish and fin fish, so that eliminated over half the menu for me. My experience may have been different had I been able to eat those dishes.

  10. I got to port at 10:00 on 11/26. I was boarding group #4 and I was #29 for Vibe. I honestly don't know if I will buy Vibe again. It is SUPER windy up there on Sunday and Monday; this also happened on Getaway. I met people on the cruise I wanted to hang out with, and they didn't have Vibe, so I didn't use it as much as I thought.

  11. Well, I heard some of you sing the praises of Micellar water for your evening wash to remove makeup. I got some from Caudalie (a very nice French line that I've used some other items from ) in a sample from Sephora. Well, I'm sitting here an hour later with my face and neck very itchy and burning. And, it did nothing to take off my eye makeup (eye primer, Urban Decay shadow and Urban Decay 24/7 eyeliner). I guess I'll stick with my Sephora Waterproof eye makeup remover and my Kiehl's Ultra Facial Cleanser.

Just another tale that some things will not work well for some...

I hate the Caudalie micellar water! The Garnier is far superior! Only drugstore product I use. I normally love Caudalie, but they missed the mark on the micellar water.

  12. I can't speak for the Breakaway or all Escape sailings, but I was on the Escape last week and I NEVER saw anybody eating at Margaritaville. I saw people sitting there, but they were playing games, reading, etc. IMO this is a waste of prime ship real estate. Much preferred the Spanish inspired INCLUDED venue on Getaway. I'm not sure why people would spend money in Margaritaville. If you want a cheeseburger, the one in O'Sheehan's is great as are the fries.

  13. 60 brushes?!?!

I think I've cleaned my brushes once in the past 3 years. :o

I use about 4 different eyeshadow brushes each day...and I have many shadow brushes as I change colors often. I use a color switch, but I also like using a clean brush. Then eyeliner brushes, concealer, foundation (I have several brushes depending on foundation finish...I have several different foundations), concealer setting brush, cream blush brush, setting powder brush, powder blush, bronzer, finishing powder, highlight, contour, eyebrow, lip. So, yeah...I'm a makeup junkie. My favorite brushes are the It Cosmetics brushes, both the mainstream line and the line they create for Ulta. And don't ask about how much makeup I have lol. But, I have it down to a full face of makeup in about 15 minutes.

  14. How do you deep clean?

I soak them for a bit in olive oil to break up any makeup and keep the bristles soft. Then I use soap and a textured silicon mat to make sure the brush is completely clean. When I wash on a day to day basis, I just use a bit of soap that gets the worst out, but if you use cream/liquid cosmetics on your brush, you need to do a little deeper clean.

  15. I was on the Escape last week. I was in a studio and had a blast! I've actually done a studio 5 times. I'll be 40 in a few weeks, and I've been one of the younger ones. Our group last week had a bunch in our 30s (me barely haha), and the studio coordinator said usually the groups are 45+, which has been my experience on other cruises. There are nightly happy hours, dinners, shows, and sea day activities. Do as much or as little as you want.

  16. Interesting, in Miami, unless it has recently changed, you go thru checkin and then go up some escalators toward the waiting room. Someone at the top of the escalator give you your boarding card with number. I've been in group 1-3 almost every time I cruise out of Miami. It sucks that they don't all do it this way at all ports.

That's how it was when I boarded Escape 11/26.
