  1. I am on my second Pandora bracelet. This one is rather tropical, with blues and turquoise beads, cruise ship, sunglasses, passport, suitcase, flip flip charms. When I was in Vegas, they had Vegas specific charms available only I'm Vegas. Do the ports have any port specific charms? I'd love to save room on this second bracelet.

  2. That is a lot of money to turn away. A 21 year old is not a child. 21 year olds are graduating from college, getting full time jobs, and living in their own. However, only you know your son and the 21 year old. Are the both pretty responsible? If so, I'd make the move. Think of the great excursions you could do with that money! I was 18 on my first cruise with my two best friends, also 18, also on their first cruise. We made it out ok! Good luck with your decision.

  3. Well, earlier in this thread someone said there are photographers on board on this "Night out" or whatever you want to call it. I was just wondering if that's known ahead of time or what. I'd hate to wear my fancy cocktail dress one night, and then have the photographers there the NEXT night! :( The reason this is important to us is we are trying to re-create a picture we had done on a RCL cruise 12 years ago! The fact that I can get back into that dress again is one of the reasons we're even doing this cruise! When I started losing weight over a year ago, I told my husband if I EVER get back in that dress, he owed me a cruise! I did, and he's paying up!! :D

They do have a specific night, although you can choose to dress up any night. In my three Epic cruises, it's been the second night. When you get to your room, there will be a "week at a glance" piece of paper in your room. Whichever night is "Norwegian Night Out" or "Dress up or Not" night will be listed on this piece of paper.

    Congrats on the weight loss

  4. THank you so much. I talked to them both today. they are still a little sad and I am of course feeling like a heel for having made the mistake. Wife is feeling a little less safe without me so she may not get off the ship in any ports. Tried to reassure her.......

I'm a 37 year old woman that often cruises solo. I cruise solo, get off at the ports, do excursions, etc. She'll be fine.

Sorry this happened to you. Hope everything works out :)

  5. Well, after using the Elnett for a week, I have to say that I do like it. I got the unscented version. It's not totally unscented (unfortunately) but the light scent that it does have doesn't seem to stick around so I'm okay with it. It holds pretty well -- my hair still falls forward a bit but not as much and it seems to hold well all day, at least indoors.

I agree that it brushes out well too. :)

Now if only I can keep getting it on sale.....

I stock up when Ulta had their 20% off deals. Right now at Walgreens, through March 1, you get 50 Balance Rewards points for each $1 spent on beauty items.

  6. My aunt passed away Friday night, she was 54 years old. She had blood clots in her lungs and heart. All these months worry about my grandfather, every phone call a potential bad news about him. I did not expect my Dad to call me and tell me that she was gone. When people are sick or even just old.......it seems so much easier to let go. I never once prepared myself for the idea that she wouldn't be here. I've never had someone die..........that I didn't have time to prepare for it.

So sorry for your loss. PE catches people off guard and is usually fatal. Hang in there.

  7. I was initially tempted to say it was a non-smoking area, but I see now I could be totally wrong on that.

Going on EPIC #5 soon, and I don't recall ever once seeing a cigarette being smoked in Posh, or even the presence of ashtrays.

I'm usually quite observant, but now I'm clearly doubting myself . . . so I'll just go with, "Heck, I honestly don't know this one." :o

    .

Ha ha, I was about to post non-smoking as well. If there is smoking, it's not noticeable!

  8. Posh is terrible! So not worth a penny!

It's $59 a week. It was not available during holiday cruises (I was disappointed I couldn't buy it for my NYE cruise).

I'm kidding of course. I just don't want word to spread too much about how great it is. When I go on my Getaway cruise in May, I'm planning on getting to the port before 10. I don't care if I have to wait; I want to be in boarding group 1 so I can be sure to get a pass for Vibe. I love the attentiveness from the bartenders, how you get to know the other people up there, and it's nice knowing I don't have to go searching for a lounger.

  9. Sandy,

I brush upwards in long strokes starting with the tops of my feet and work all the way up to my head. Yes, I do my butt, back, arms, stomach. Use circular motions on the stomach. You want to do the whole body because you want to encourage circulation. At home I just do it after showering. When traveling, I do it in the am, after showering, before bed. It should take about 3-4 minutes to do your whole body. When on a cruise, I may just do the legs from time to time in between the full vrushings

  10. I fly into FLL frequently and use SAS Transportation to get to Miami. It's $15 a person. Cost of a cab to/from MIA to POM is $24. I much prefer the FLL airport. I'd go with whichever flight is cheaper.

I can't help with the room question. I'm a "just get me on the ship" person.

  11. It comes in both scented and unscented.

Since I don't wash my hair every day, I find that contrary to what everyone says, (including the women's magazines) it does build up on your hair. I have had more trouble with that than any other hair spray. Unfortunately, the spray I like best has been discontinued.

It's always a HUGE bummer when a favorite beauty product is discontinued.

  12. I have read some reviews and many have mentioned that it has quite a strong smell that lingers. Otherwise it sounds great. What is your experience with the scent?

I second the Elnett recommendation. I don't notice a scent at all. If there is a scent, it certainly does not linger(to me). It's a fantastic hairspray that meets your criteria. It comes in a small travel size can that you can buy to try it.

  13. Yet another creative idea NCL came up with to nickel and dime the customer.

No one has to buy it. If you don't want to buy Posh/Vibe passes, you can just get a deck chair on one of the public access decks. It is 100% a choice, which all these "nickel and dime" options are. After the mass chair hogging that occurred on my NYE 2011 Epic cruise, I gladly paid for Posh on my next Epic cruise.

  14. I've stayed in the studios on Epic three times. I love it! I've always met great people to hang out with, and the space is perfect for one. I'm considering Getaway as well. I started another thread asking what, if any, differences exist between Epic and Breakaway studios. I know Breakaway and Getaway have fewer studios.

  15. I need to book a cruise to get me through this latest cold snap! I've sailed the Epic three times Ina studio cabin, and I love it. I am leaning towards booking the Getaway for spring. I'm curious if the studio experience is different on the Breakaway. I know there are fewer studios on the Breakaway and Getaway, but is everything else pretty much the same? I'd appreciate any insight from someone that has sailed in a studio on both the Epic and the Breakaway.

  16. Really?

So, What happens if the cruiser has a doctor's note stating he/she is unfit to go on a cruise?

It doesn't matter. A pre-existing condition is a pre-existing condition. Usually, pre-existing conditions are covered if you buy the insurance within two weeks of booking the cruise. If you wait, pre-existing conditions are excluded.

  17. Brooke, you aren't the only homebuyer here! I have a contract in on a townhome in the suburb where I grew up. I'm only 5 minutes from my sister and ten minutes from my boyfriend, though we're talking about moving in together. It's a 3 BR 2.5 bath with 2500 square feet; a big change from my 700 square foot condo in Chicago! I'm going to rent out my condo, so I'm going to have two mortgages, which is kind of scary.

I had 3 large goals for 2013 - new relationship, new house, and new job. I got the first two; now I need to focus on the job, though I need to stick around until Sept 1 to get my bonus and exercise some stock options. It's so crazy...my boyfriend and I went to high school together. We actually dated a bit back then. Hadn't seen each other in 17 years. I was at a fundraiser, saw his name listed as one of the volunteers (he has an unusual last name). I asked someone about him, he put me in contact, we made plans to catch up, and we've been going strong since. He met my sister, bro in law, and my nephews last night. All went well! Things are looking up!

However, with dating him, I've put on some weight...ugh. Full force diet starts today!
