If you want a cool eclectic play to eat and have a few drinks try Preacher Bar next door to the Radisson. Really cool place with really good food!!
check out their reviews on Trip Advisor…
A lot of the hotels in the area offer this service. The hotels closest to the port (less than a mile) that I would recommend are:
*Hampton Inn Cruise Port/Home2Suites
*Homewood Suites
*Springhill Suites
*Residence Inn
*Country Inn & Suites
****for years we stayed at the Radisson but I can no longer recommend as it has become very dated. And we had several different “situations” that made us seek newer and better places to stay****
Yesterday we picked up 8 covid test kits (per person) from CVS and they billed Medicare. They said under this program you are eligible for 8 test kits….per month….per person!! 😳
The 24hr health questions have been removed from the check in process. They were replaced by 3 questions about whether or not you have been vaxed……and those questions can be answered at least a month ahead of time.
These were removed at the same time the step to download your vaccination card disappeared…..
We were on the Harmony last month and they were checking. They had lines set up for 10:30, 11:00, 11:30 and 12:00. All others were sent to the side to wait and there were quite a few!!
I had a 10:30 checkin so not sure what happened after we got through…
I hope they leave it as optional for the crew. We spoke to several on the Harmony last month and they were not so anxious to give them up due to the vast amount of people they are exposed to weekly….
In Canaveral the porters will no longer put a tag on a case of water. They stopped doing that before covid…
Water, soda, wine, etc you bring it must be carried on only…
The Royal app will not allow you to send and receive texts or calls from home. It is for onboard purposes only.
we also have AT&T and purchase the WiFi pkg. you can then put your phone on airplane mode (VERY important), turn on WiFi calling and we can then use our phone to text and call just like we were at home….
In Tampa you can pay a small fee ($20 I think) and you can do valet parking. You will be able to pull right into the terminal area and they will park your car for you and then have it waiting on you when you get off the ship. So well worth the money and you can go ahead and pre-pay for it online!!
Highly recommended!!!
There is a service station I think it’s a Race Track a block away. They have a decent selection of wine….
I just Googled the law for Brevard County and it looks like they can sell alcohol any time on Sundays

***several have mentioned the Radisson. We stayed there for a number of years but now “in my opinion” it is very dated and the reviews are no longer good on Trip Advisor. Plus we had several situations that happened there that caused us to seek nicer and new places****
Rooms are not ready until 1:00pm or so and until that time you are not supposed to enter the hallway to drop off luggage or anything else.
Will they stop you??? Maybe….maybe not….but if everyone did this the poor stewards would never get their rooms turned around.
Please don’t break this rule…..
I am not 100% sure about the website as I did mine on the app. This happened about two weeks ago when the ability to download your vaccination card went away and the step about answering your health questions the day before cruising disappeared.
At that time I was able to go ahead and answer the three questions for my cruise coming up on Sept. 11th……
The day before boarding health questions have been removed. They have been replaced by only 3 questions asking about vaccination status and they are available to be answered a few weeks before sailing….
