  1. I'm glad to hear that. We haven't gone to a DR for a few years on Princess, instead just eat all our meals either at one of the poolside options or the buffet. We aren't that picky overall, but on our last cruise on Emerald Princess in the spring, the buffet was pretty meh overall, many same selections each day. Others have commented about the Celebrity buffet being better, so we are looking forward to that. Can anyone comment on the on demand TV options? We really enjoy how Princess does this, lots of movies and TV shows to choose from.
  2. I do have the elevate or whatever it's called with tips, wifi, and drinks included, but I was just more referring to the general prices being what seems like significantly higher across those items. Just surprised me a bit. I do wonder what the cost of upgrading the wifi to streaming and should I do that before boarding? Advantage either way for anyone without status on Celebrity?
  3. A question for the Celebrity crowd. Taking our first Celebrity cruise in a few weeks, and compared to Princess, the price of wifi and things like Specialty Dining seem significantly higher on Celebrity. I was looking at the Tuscan grill, and it's $49 vs $29 for the Crown Grill. I think Princess wifi is around $12/day and it's $30 in Celebrity. Drink packages seem higher overall too although not as much. Am I missing something with this? Just curious really, but many of these items are double what they are on Princess, so I was just curious. I do have some OBC that came with my booking, and would I be better off upgrading internet before I board from the basic to the streaming? I have read that streaming isn't always streaming, but I would want to try. Princess wifi overall seems pretty good in the evenings if we want to watch a movie on our computer. My understanding is Celebrity on demand programming isn't that great compared to Princess who has a lot of movie and TV show options. I'm also assuming any OBC not spent on services could be spent on stores onboard?
  4. We were able to book our boarding time a couple of days ago for an October cruise. I think generally it's 45 days out.
  5. it's called gambling, and you ultimately lose. It's an entertainment thing, view it that way.
  6. If tips are included, no. Now, if our service is good for our week, we do tip some cash.
  7. 11-11:30 was the first option, but yes. Not sure if that's good or bad with Celebrity since I haven't sailed with them. Princess does times, but they don't really use them, you just board when you show up.
  8. Check in for ours opened today, 45 days out. Have read that is pretty normal. However, the message said previously that they would email when check in was available, and I did not receive any email.
  9. Why would anyone presume what someone else needs for their vacation? I have a medical device that I need power for, and I bring cords to make sure I have what i need. I take them to hotels, cruise ships, airbnb, etc.
  10. So, i did find how to do this on my reservation. Am I wrong, or are you just requesting an upgrade, and where it is on the ship is not an option, so you could get upgraded, but be in a different location on the ship from your current cabin?
  11. Seems to me just take one with a short cord, leave it in the box it came in and put it in your checked baggage. I suspect they aren't looking at them that closely as they load them on the ship.
  12. I live in Georgetown about 3 miles from the Franklin County line, lol. We are probably real close. Eat in Frankfort all the time, closer than going into Georgetown. I am so glad to hear about the A/C. I prefer it cold. Can always use a blanket, lol.
  13. Thanks for your update. We are on our first Celebrity cruise on Infinity in October. Did the A/C on the ship overall seem to work fine? I know the first week or two people complained about it. Would be my biggest concern.
  14. We are going on a cruise in October leaving FLL and first stop the next day is Key West. Turns out our college football game is a night game, and I know the internet service on the ship people are saying is spotty (Celebrity Infinity). Does anyone know if the cruise time between FLL and Key West your cell signal (in our case AT&T) remains active or does it switch to some kind of sea cell connection? Just curious if I can watch the game on my phone without there being an issue with overcharges due to switching off AT&T for some sea cell service.
  15. Slightly off topic question, but I figured I would ask it here instead of a new thread. We are going on our first Celebrity cruise in October, Celebrity Infinity. We will be in an inside cabin on deck 9. Does anyone know where the outlets are in that room? I tried to look at some images, and it appears the desk is on the opposite wall of the bed. Are there outlets on the bed side area to use? I really don't want to have cords going across the room. I'm assuming there are lights on either side of the bed, so they must plug into an outlet. I have one of those European to US converter plugs, can I use those outlets?
  16. I did email in my request. So to be clear, you can't take an extension cord, but you could take a non surge protection power strip, like those already mentioned by people? Is the cruise line making a distinction between an extension cord and say a power strip?
  17. So, what do you do, pack them with your medical equipment, or have some paperwork showing it's not a surge protector style and made for cruise ship usage? My upcoming cruise is my first on Celebrity, I have no idea where the outlets in the room are and what I will need, so I'm bringing an extension cord and a couple of these power strips to make sure I have what I need. None of it is surge protected stuff. We have never been questioned about this on other cruise lines.
  18. Good to hear. I have a couple that I always take that are similar to this with a couple of outlets and USB. Why would they want to confiscate non power surge ones? People need them for their electronics and things like medical equipment. I pack mine with my cpap machine.
  19. Ah, that makes sense. Thanks All. I wish it was better explained on their drink packages page of the website.
  20. We have our first cruise upcoming on Celebrity. We have the Classic Alcohol package included in our fare, but do not drink alcohol much. Instead we drink soft drinks and for coffee, typically what I call a white and milk chocolate mocha. I was under the impression that soft drinks and bottled water were included in the classic alcohol package, but what is a premium coffee vs a specialty coffee on Celebrity? We usually cruise Princess and I'm not aware of a distinction in their packages. Is it listed somewhere on Celebrity's website what is and isn't included in the packages? I found the drinks package page, but it's not specific.
  21. With the always included style packages, every cruise is a booze cruise. They are making bank from it.
  22. I so appreciate your thread. We will be taking our first celebrity cruise on her in October. A couple of questions. We are in an inside stateroom on deck 9 if that matters to the answers. 1. How large is the TV in the staterooms? 2. Are there on demand TV selection such as TV shows and movies? We are long time Princess cruisers, and all of their ships have wall mounted larger TV's and lots of on demand TV shows and movies to watch. We typically aren't much for the onboard entertainment, although will look at it for Celebrity, but usually migrate back to our room and watch stuff on the TV. And as you mentioned, if I wanted to stream say Netflix or similar, would that work with the higher wifi option? I have whatever comes with the bundle (drinks, wifi, gratuities), but have read that you have to upgrade the wifi to stream anything.
  23. I just want to know about the A/C particularly in cabins. How is yours and any of your traveling companions? Any comments from other passengers?
