  1. And in this case it almost certainly wouldn't. Just look at the history of the airlines. And unlike most here, I AM an expert in this field (w/o giving away too much info.)
  2. As others have said, your luggage can sit in the terminal. Here's how late disembark goes. First announcement: Last of the tags announced. Second announcement (10 minutes later): All guests kindly disembark now please. Last announcement (10-15 minutes after that): Stragglers called out specifically by name. Try not to hear that last one. All usually done by 9:30. I don't recall that being as late as 10 anytime recently.
  3. There may be a line of 'cheaters' arriving well before their appointment time as happened to us us New Orleans a couple weeks back. I was unaware initially and dutifully lined up at the tail end. Within 3-5 minutes, a Carnival employee walked the line asking anyone who actually had a 10a arrival to show her their boarding pass. We were then pulled from the line and escorted to the very short entrance queue. So just be careful about that. There's something unusual about New Orleans that way as we noticed the same line when we disembarked. Perhaps severe parking limitations? Only a guess. To answer the second implicit part of your question, there's no separate of 'special' line for Plats/Diamonds. You simply enter at your appointed time and complete the process.
  4. Nope. We haven't and have sailed numerous times post pandemic.
  5. Lots of folks do interesting costumes which are fun to look at. I don't specifically recall specific events but there may have been some, such as a costume judging.
  6. Yep. We routinely do it. For most cruises for us, a single liquor bottle for the room and a wine package is more than enough. We'll still buy the occasional beer/drink at a bar but like 1-2 a day.
  7. Agree with others. Please limit nighttime usage. It's overkill.
  8. There's 2 different levels; standard and premium. Both are available in 3 and 5 bottle packages. We always get the premium (think 'solid', not 'spectacular') And an 18% tip is charged. I don't remember exactly but the fully loaded price on the premium 3 bottle was about $110. Many bottles available on it 'rack rate' before tip in the low $40s. Add 18% and it's close to $60. Of course that same wine is $20-$25 at Total Wine, etc. If you plan to drink 3 bottles (or more) on your cruise, it's a meaningful savings. I believe all the wines available on Premium are available as part of Cheers. So if you go that route....
  9. Brilliant. She spent the night offshore in the lee of Cozumel and is now heading south out of harm's way where no doubt she'll visit Roatan, etc.
  10. The Pan Striped Bass is quite good; typically my 'go to' on Elegant Night on the 5 nighters. That said, the Elegant Night menu on the 5 night cruise is probably my least favorite during those trips. One of these times I'll get the Up-charge $23 NY Strip. Problem is I'm always trying to eat less, not more. We cruise enough that I try hard not to overdo it. Last week I hadn't had a melting cake all week; something I've never missed in my many cruises. Got one the last night and had 4-5 bites. It was great but I was so 'done' eating/drinking for the week.
  11. That makes sense if you look at her track. Key West was fine today for Dream as she heads east. Tomorrow crossing Ian's path; bad idea. But you can see on cruisemapper that they made an effort. I'm sure folks are disappointed as a Bahamas cruise is a bit special out of New Orleans. But safety first.
  12. Looks to me like new orders came down. Not quite sure what this week's itinerary was supposed to be but Glory is making a beeline for the Yucatan north coast after earlier seemingly headed to Key West and then the Bahamas. Dream is about to steam east from Key West and Valor clearly subbed out Costa Maya for Progreso to get some terra firma between them and Ian. Paradise and Vista are already south and west of the storm so okay. Sorry folks itineraries are impacted. But the bottom line is you simply stay away.
  13. Perhaps this is another situation of the evap fridge not working 'well'. As others have suggested, getting airspace to the back of them is critical. Slide them as far forward as possible. They work just like an RV fridge and need their airspace. We tweaked our's outward last week on Valor and she perked up nicely.
  14. She's honestly one of my favorite ships. It's funny. Most of the fine folks I meet onboard every time I cruise are having great times and are interesting, nice people. Sometimes I notice a few things that require maintenance but rarely (never?) anything egregious; Sunrise is no different. Oh, and I've personally never had an 'inedible' meal in the MDR. See you onboard. (Or not; your call.)
  15. It's easy. We sat on Valor for as long as they would allow this morning exiting the ship sometime between 9 and 9:30. We were through TSA and sitting at the gate by 10:30. And we could have disembarked in the 7a hour had we wished. 4 more hours to kill at MSY. Why the heck do you think I'm pecking at my phone? 😉
  16. Just to clarify info on the maintenance. They're doing it in two separate segments; not for the entire time from now until February.
  17. Tour operators know how this works and fully understand the concept of ship time. They are used to dealing with ship pax every day. And they can even accommodate a situation when the ship is slightly delayed. What they routinely DO ask is that you exit the ship and proceed to the designated meeting spot promptly. Waiting for stragglers delays everyone.
  18. Think of Cucina Capitano as 2 venues in one: complimentary pasta lunch which is actually quite good and a sit down upcharge dinner venue featuring an extensive (and excellent) menu at night.
  19. So to answer your question, it's VERY likely that your Late Dining group of 4 will be assigned to your own table; either a booth or one of the 4 tops. In the very unlikely event that it's not, the Dining staff takes requested changes the afternoon you embark and can almost certainly accommodate you. Late Dining is often the least in demand these days.
  20. They posted that they are okay yesterday but as I understand it, there's no power on the island so the gensets are likely quite busy again.
  21. We used to routinely book our teenage kids in an Inside stateroom directly across the hall from us. I'm not going to look up the rules but the required proximity of the 2nd room is set by their ages.
  22. IF you are fully vaxxed, you do NOT need a Covid test. You must be able to PROVE that you are vaxxed so be prepared to show your official Vax record. (Most simply take their Covid Vax card ) IF you are NOT vaxxed, you still must test. There are exceptions for places like Canada, etc. that still have more restricted rules.
