  1. Not sure what you're implying. I fulfilled all the requirements and didn't get sick.
  2. We took the Canadian protocols 100% into account during our planning. I had no quarrel with testing in Seattle while we were at our son's house. We could always cancel there, if positive, and gotten back home relatively painlessly. But once we had that negative test in hand, we were 'done'. I feel for those folks that took ill on the southbound leg. But our planned exit from Canadian authority within 24 hours of arriving was purposeful. We even had a conversation with folks at the Princess McKinley Lodge about their need to test the next day and the inherent risk following their land tour. I wonder if they boarded successfully?
  3. I think it was 6 in one, half dozen other. We purposefully chose to go the direction we did to avoid the need to test prior to embarking in Whittier after a 'risky' land tour. My wife and I had been 'careful' at home before the trip, gotten our 2nd booster to pump up our antibodies in early August, safely visited our son in Seattle for a few days, and tested at our earliest opportunity. We knew we were 'good to go' for the entire duration absent some severe situation before we ever crossed the Canadian border. (I know some here will be appalled but there is zero chance I would have reported to the Health Center with the sniffles. My position with respect to Covid is clear from above.) I do think there is something to be said about going northbound despite Covid considerations. Alaska builds as you go north with Denali as the cherry on top. Our six days on land was busy. We were tired and ready to get back home when it ended.
  4. 12 years. Be interesting if you like the product going forward.
  5. I like watching Shaq for a couple minutes! 😁
  6. Yes, it does have it's own tender service.
  7. That is a HUGE price differential. Seriously, some would $1500 for one day on Carnival? Not me.
  8. Fireworks at sea is a really, really bad omen. Didn't you people watch Titanic? Everyone in the world knows what that means. 😳
  9. Now I'm really confused. The couple getting divorced is going on a cruise?? 🤔 (Nah, gotta be an 'out with the old, in with the new' scenario.)
  10. Isn't it interesting how's there's different strokes for different folks? I just got off the beautiful Royal Princess. Had an unbelievably great time on a 13 night Alaska landcruise. But I absolutely missed being on a good old Spirit class or Sunshine class boat. I was still getting lost after a week and while it was cool to hear opera from Magic Flute and strings in the main atrium, I was wishing for some 'Showstoppas' from my days on Pride last year. Sail on.
  11. As 80sGal said, the refurb job was very well done. I really like the class. She's got all the modern amenities but in a somewhat smaller package.
  12. And FYI, they don't cut trips short for weather unless the home port is directly affected.
  13. Sounds like a good cruise to me. I like Sunrise a great deal but don't expect her to be Mardi Gras. By April, winter chill isn't a problem. Of the ships on your list and given the fact that you sail out of Mia, I think you made the right choice.
  14. Ha! In retirement we've become fans of cruises up to 14 nights. Cuts down on the travel/embarkation/disembarkation. We've even started to build our own via B2Bs. Those can be done quite inexpensively. 2022 was epic for that but with Covid restrictions now lifted those days are over. Let your hubby know that to get anywhere truly 'exotic' one needs to go at least 8. (St. Maarten/Aruba, for example)
  15. No, but I've done here sister ship Sunrise several times and like her a lot. She's perhaps my favorite 4/5 night boat. So I'm sure I'd like Radiance.
  16. Okay, I've been to all the ports and both a 'Glory' class as well as a 'Panorama' class ship. (I know, I know... just making it easy.) I've not been on the new Mardi Gras. Let me preface what I am about to say that I am absolutely NOT a 'ship guy', but rather a 'destination guy'. That means I never run out to get on the newest builds, much less pay a premium for them. Others are different. You have to decide for you. Personally I would choose the Panorama cruise. It provides you with a completely new itinerary not available on any of scores of Atlantic departures that get you to the western Caribbean. It'll be easy to back-fill that some other time out of any of at least 4 Carnival departure ports. My last choice would be Celebration. As I said, paying a premium for a new ship and getting one less day, and going to some of Carnival's most frequented ports is not the way I approach it. Again, YMMV.
  17. The reservations need to be linked beforehand. One quick call. Then a good 'check' is to briefly stop by Guest Services onboard easily confirms. 👍
  18. Folks from down south in Ohio need to hold my beer.
  19. If I was her husband I'd avoid her too!
  20. I think we're a ways from that. Not requiring testing and actually welcoming symptomatic COVID folks onboard are pretty different things. I believe showing a positive test will earn FCC and 'thanks for being safe and honest' for the foreseeable future.
  21. I would think the answer to your question is... YES, you need an official test. I suspect testing was required for your cruise so reporting an official positive test seems to be the remedy necessary to obtain your FCC. What is interesting to me is in a post testing era beginning shortly whether a proctored test result will need to be obtain FCC. Otherwise, Carnival is potentially subject to fraudulent 'don't feel like going' last minute cancelation.
  22. An important additional piece of info. Do NOT put your repacked luggage in the hallway. Sofa/bed in your 'old' room only.
  23. We always choose Riviera when doing an OV. Nice and quiet with guest cabins above and crew cabins below and closer to the gangway.
  24. Not to be difficult by why would your Passport and Driver's license have a different name on them? One or the other is inaccurate.
