  1. We were there on a cruise a few years ago and had a long port day. Of course, Pula was the target for me. Thankfully, we did have a ship excursion with the added attraction of a ship's lecturer accompanying us. But Rovinj itself was a delightful stop. We did have plenty of time to wander around from the church to the port. Edinburgher's description is very good. And that is the gist of it - walk around and enjoy it even if you only have an hour or so to do it.
  2. Go to the website: https://www.trenitalia.com/en.html Enter the date and stations. Enter the time. You will see all the options. And there will always be tickets on the regional. It is a commuter train.
  3. You will be at the old port and you should be able to get right on a tender. You do not have to wait for the cable car. If the privat boat tour is just for your group, you can ask them to bring you back 10 minutes earlier for a little extra leeway. Just make sure you ask when the last tender leaves so you can adk to be back by then.
  4. You can stay as long as you want to after the tour. You pick your time for the tour and then you pick the time you want to arrive. Either 15 or 30 minutes before the tour starts. It's for your convenience and to make sure you will not be late for the tour which starts on time.
  5. I have only used "free" tours twice. The one in Barcelona was really good. The one in Prague not so much. I guess it depends on the guide.
  6. This is when Disney Cruises come in. I have no idea what the itineraries are, but they do entertain the kiddos and let mom and dad have some free time.
  7. Best restaurants on the Amalfi Coast The Gambero Rosso's choices in all towns from Positano to Vietri sul Mare; https://www.gamberorosso.it/notizie/notizie-ristoranti/i-migliori-ristoranti-della-costiera-amalfitana-scelti-dal-gambero-rosso/
  8. They are competitive. "Reasonable" is subjective. To me, yes, they are. To others, get a quote and decide.
  9. It is a transfer and tour company. I have been using them for nearly 20 years. The founder, George Kokkotos and his sons, grew his taxi service to a full service company. Sesrch this board for my, and others, comments.
  10. The official price for a taxi from the taxi line is 40 euros in the daytime, 55 at night (but always confirm the price with the driver before you get in the car, some may try to charge you extra for number of bags, etc.). https://www.athensairporttaxi.org/athens-airport-taxi-fare/ 50 € is normal for private transfers, although the prices are going up. Compare the prices to a transfer from George's Taxi https://www.georgestaxi.com/
  11. And I agree with Adventures. I strongly suggest that Oceanann skip the ho-ho bus. It would be a waste of time. And for that matter, given the time they have available, I would also skip the Park Güell and take a taxi from SF to Casa Batlló. After visiting CB, walk up and down the Passeig de Gracia and grab some lunch. Then go down Las Ramblas as far as Carrer de Colom, turn left and go to the Plaça Reial. From there make their way across the Gothic Quarter to the Cathedral (just like the Runner Bean tour). Make sure they walk through Plaça del Pi and Plaça Sant Jaume on the way to the Cathedral. If they have time, go to nearby Santa Maria del Mar church which also has very good tapas bars across from the entrance. Then a taxi to the ship. Runner Bean's free tours are at 11 am and 4:30 pm. However, they would also give you a private tour at whatever time you choose, say 2 pm. https://runnerbeantours.com/ The description of the free tour is: https://runnerbeantours.com/tours/free-tours-barcelona-gothic-quarter/#tour_hightlights
  12. I was on one of the Greek cruises a couple of weeks after yours. Those were the first ones after the pandemic restrictions were eased. I doubt if there was any flexibility for changes. And I was more than happy to go wherever they took me.
  13. Finally! The Italian government is going to investigate the companies that scoop up Colosseum tickets. Let's hope they solve the problem within our lifetimes. https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/italys-antitrust-investigates-inflated-prices-colosseum-tickets-2023-07-18/
  14. Just a thought. After you price the ferry tickets and add in the price of a taxi to take you from the pier to the hotel, get a quote from a transfer company for the trip. It may cost you more, but it will be door-to-door and you will not have to deal with the suitcases.
  15. And that is the meaning of "civilization."
  16. For a long vacation I always bring two pairs of hiking sandals with different designs. That is, the straps fall on different places. Also, look for sandals with cushioning on the heel strap.
  17. They are direct flights with AA.
  18. When we lived in France our kids (young teen boys) started classifying the beach goers on a fruit scale: lemons to watermelons. Of course, we didn't find out until years later. We should have thought of the blindfolds.
  19. To get back to the OP and to Cannes - none of the beaches around the port are nudist, but all allow topless.
  20. In this heat hiking sandals work great. Keen, Teva and others make them.
  21. Yes and yes. Google "ferry Amalfi to Naples" to find the schedules. It is probably way too early to book it.
  22. It could be too much in one day, but you can try. There are always plenty of taxis around, so you can simply quit when you are ready and go back to the ship.
