  1. It was contained in information docs as the reno was progressing. I can't recall if it was Sydney Ports info or NSW government files.
  2. Princess - there is medallion for the cocktails 😂
  3. Not to mention terminal staff working 16 hour days when it is the same shipping agency for both ships. 😉 I agree it can't happen in the current format, and really long odds of happening outside of an emergency plan B. Just food for thought, and interesting to compare how a ship is turned around vs a plane. The most recent OPT upgrade was supposed to allow for parts of the terminal to be split to allow independent forward & aft passenger movements. It would speed things up but less margin of error, and it requires more borderforce and terminal staff which is more expensive for the ship/line. The aim of splitting though was to allow for more passengers per hour to embark/disembark so that in theory an Oasis like ship could still be comfortably turned around in a day.
  4. If only Bradfield had more vision, we could have 5 cruise terminals on the western side of the bridge. 😉
  5. Lol. By tomorrow, we will have expanded your shortlist from 3 to 50. If you are planning to get around on the harbour, I would go the Four Seasons. Also, if your budget allows, the views from their harbour rooms are spectacular and it is an easy short walk to the cruise terminal.
  6. There are quite a few constraints, some of which are more readily resolved. - Yes, bunkering does take-up plenty of time, but it can be completed at a harbour anchorage if needed. - It was mentioned earlier about OPT being extended, but that was just to allow some of the bigger ships to berth. Prior to the mods, QM2 was unable to berth at OPT. They did also upgrade the terminal, which is supposed to be able to handle embarking and disembarking passengers simultaneously. The terminal is staffed to handle xx passengers in yy hours, which could be expedited with extra staff if needed. The big constraint with the current layout is provisioning fresh food. It seems only 1 semi can unload at a time, and there is general pandemonium in the finite space.
  7. They do, but you need to touch base with them. https://www.pocruises.com.au/faqs/things-to-know-before-you-go/how-do-i-advise-of-any-special-requests-including-medical-dietary-and-mobility-requirements
  8. I think you could have quoted another post. No, I don't believe FB to be in any way reliable, backed by my other comments, and it is a crazy world where news outlets troll social media for their "facts" and "reliable witnesses".
  9. Yeah - nah. Funny, there are lots of people on FB that were not on the ship yet are also sure there was someone smoking in their cabin. If there was a couple smoking in bed or even in their cabin, they aren't going to admit it to anyone surely, and their smoke alarm not working is doubly strange. The other issue of copping a significant room clean fee would find inconsiderate passengers sneaking one in on the balcony. I think it unlikely that the someone on FB was on the scene to witness it, so I will wait to hear what the cops and P&O have to say. As it is, I don't think NSW Police even has much of a role here, unless they suspect it was intentionally lit.
  10. Still an IF for me, and just as possible to be electrical. In the end, I don't think P&O will find a "smoking gun" of any kind.
  11. Both possible, but the numbers of confirmed positives are way down at the start of each cruise, then supposedly only 10% of those would be smokers.
  12. She departed Sydney less than 12hrs before, where you needed to test negative 24hrs prior to boarding and be symptom free at check-in.
  13. In this case, there should be none in ISO, so not relevant to Sunday mornings fire. I was just countering comments that on xyz cruise the staff were doing nothing about passengers smoking on their balconies - they may have been given permission to do so. This is an important point when they are being accused of being negligent about safety standards. Not that it really matters, but I am an ex-smoker that sees both sides of the fence on this. Most smokers follow the rules, some don't. I have smoked on my balcony back when it was allowed, which was many years after Star Princess' fire. I believe one of the resolutions of that incident was the fire rating of furniture and furnishings on balconies and in cabins. I have no time for people who can't respect the rules to smoke in designated areas and to properly extinguish their butts, and they should be treated harshly if caught. If P&O is able to determine that smoking was the cause of their fire, I keenly await their findings and actions.
  14. Amid much speculation about the cause of the fire, P&O has made a statement. *P&O Cruises Australia Official Statement* A fire on a balcony was detected and extinguished in the early hours of Sunday morning on board Pacific Adventure. This fire activated our emergency response procedures including a full muster of guests and crew and we thank everyone on board for their cooperation. No one was injured and the fire damage was contained to one room and balcony. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. The ship is scheduled to return to Sydney on Tuesday.
  15. Or the designated runner - back & forth to the buffet for laundry cocktail snacks.
  16. Even if a T/A forwards funds immediately, it takes around 72 hours for the cruise line systems to accept you. The same happens with Princess medallion - you can do the personaliser straight after booking, but the app will not recognise the cruise until they have receipted the deposit.
  17. How long ago? The site, as with the other Carnival brands, is "pragmatic" when it comes to trusting payment - usually 72hr minimum from the time of payment for their systems to acknowledge it and function accordingly.
  18. Give your deposit time to be confirmed into their account, Your Cruise Control access is instant, but other things are not switched on until they have the deposit confirmed.
  19. The shipping movements show all P&O ships docking in Cairns for the remainder of 2023
  20. It is, but when we have washed on a cruise it has only ever been 1 or 2 loads and hardly enough to break the budget.
  21. Is it possible some smokers on balconies were in covid isolation? This was an acceptable plan B policy for the cruise lines to manage iso, and when a smoker sees others smoking on their balconies, they are seeing an excuse to join in. While they would be seen clearly from the bridge, I don't think the officers would have a clue between who was in iso and who wasn't in iso. Also, not just a P&O thing but common across most of the lines here over the past year. Still, it isn't a good policy if someone with covid is allowed to smoke on their balcony if it places the ship at risk.
  22. Not sure if this has been corrected now. You used to be able to order laundry powder to your cabin via the app N/C, but $2 or $3 via the dispenser in the laundry.
  23. 2 for 1 happy hour is long gone. I find P&O and Princess clientele to be somewhat interchangeable these days. We have mostly happy memories from P&O, and find it rather interchangeable with most things Princess, dining room aside.
  24. Indeed Bob, just hearsay. Unless they were in the cabin, how would they know. Just a presumption on social media that a news site picks up on and runs with it. It is quite plausible, but there are many other possibilities. As for anything official, what happened from that guy who fell from Quantum a few weeks back? Yep, that is how long official announcements take.
  25. I also had a dud medallion. Worked at touch points, but wasn't transmitting, so I ended up sitting through the demo 3 times before I scored a tick.
