Live from Majestic Princess - 20th October 2022

We did have a delayed disembarkation. Someone, no name mentioned, left her phone in the PES lounge and hadn't realised until I asked about the whereabouts of her Opal card. Thankfully, terminal security was able to locate the phone and bring it down, but there was a bit of a wait. Not quite home yet, I will fill in some gaps then - Hard to type and drive at the same time. Only kidding, we are on a train. -

We are back. For anyone embarking today, disembark is running to schedule. Everything should flow from there. -

Yes. She just needed to take it easy yesterday. Bit of a lump and a headache, which is much better this morning. -

Just had the last supper at Crown Grill, which is a great way to finish a cruise. Sorry, Barb bumped her head last night, so our plans were much more relaxed today. I didn't get out and about for ship photos as I intended. She is a big girl, and therecarecsome areas we have visited only once or twice. We found our fave spots early on, and we tend to hangout in those places. That is the main plus of a big ship, where you don't have to tread on everyone's toes to have a great time. I will follow-up with some thoughts and a bit of a review on the way home tomorrow. Not a perfect cruise, but it hit the spot most of the way. -
Being asked to return layer was based on boarding time, not green/blue status. That should now be fixed for future boarding - priority boarding is priority, regardless of your assigned boarding time.

Me for one. Barb for 2. I reckon we aren't the only suspects. -
What ports might you miss in NZ?
arxcards replied to RobinBancs's topic in Australia & New Zealand Cruisers
The fiords (Milford Sound etc) are hard to navigate into in windy or rough conditions. With that in mind, ships going north to south have been known to also skip Dunedin (Port Chalmers) when they know the conditions will be uncomfortable below NZ, and head back towards Australia via Cook Strait. I have noticed a lot of Melbourne departures go south to North, and I don't know what plan B will be if the Southern Ocean is nasty. One way or the other, you will get most ports. We have been lucky, and yet to miss a NZ port, apart from Christchurch because of their 1st big earthquake (we diverted to Wellington). -

Not much choice when they have foo foo drinks in tall glasses. -
And that is awesome. Thanks for taking the time to do that. Cruise Passenger mostly preaches to the choir though, and unfortunately the masses get their version from the morning advertorial "news" shows, click bait media, and Auntie Bob's cousin's ex-wife's friend on FB. The stories I have overheard this past week have set a new bar.

We have an emergency situation evolving onboard. Due to too many drink packages, the bars ran out of drinking straws last night. -
Specialty Dining Cost Princess Australia
arxcards replied to resordanis's topic in Australia & New Zealand Cruisers
It was $29 US for all of the specialty restaurants on Majestic, but we also booked the Bistro from home for $29AU. It says $29 on the app too, but says $40 cover charge on the menu -

We quite like Airlie too, but have spent lots of time there over the years - Gateway to the Whitsunday Islands. -
Yellow is not better than blue. Yellow means you will not be able to board. I accidentally answered the covid test result wrongly for Barb and turned her Yellow instantly. Found, corrected answer and back to green. If you have a pending boarding in the next day or two, check your wellness uestuons are answered correctly - one of these is written a bit ambiguously.

If we get to tier 2 (3%), all staff need to wear masks indoors. That would be the best indicator of a number of confirmed positives. We aren't there, so all good till then. -

I did notice you trying to explain issues with getting special meals. We have seen that with several couples, though I did wonder. -
I spoke to the Circle host today about the way priority passengers were treated as having no priority, with that going to those with the quick response on the app. She has said they had a spec with the terminal operator in OPT, but they did not follow directions given by Princess. She said that priority passengers always have priority, regardless of their assigned time, and there is supposed to be a priority lane into the terminal which will be sorted for future cruises.

Alas, they won't. That is the same story that repeats on longer cruises overseas, and the transpacific cruises. They will only test according to the protocols - those presenting with symptoms, or as required by their destination ports. Up to 3% is considered a healthy cruise, and they won't go out of their way to potentially trigger that level. Not just a Princess thing, as they are all following the same path. Not a cynical as it sounds, but it is not any individual they are responding to, but the ship number. As it reads for your situation, they will take very good care of you as a confirmed positive. Our state health authorities are also unconcerned with you or I as individual numbers, just that the ship can manage the overall count.

@Kiwi_cruiser You didn't fix that engine too well. The rubber band on one of the engines has let go, so we will be 2hrs late into Brisbane tomorrow. i get the feeling this could be a recurring theme this summer.
