  1. Boy, I am so sorry to hear of your experience. I can see why for you guys Seabourn is a one and done. Certainly not what we expect to experience. I hope to hear more positive posts from people on the next cruise.
  2. What about lunch. I would love a grain bowl with chicken etc.?
  3. Shark b8, I have enjoyed following along your journey. We took the Rocky Mountaineer Gold car in June for 2 days from Vancouver to Jasper. We then rented a car for a week at the Fairmont's in the Canadian Rockies. We really had a ball on the train. Service was very good. We expected some hiccups post Covid and found none. Food very good and you can ask for odd additions for meals. I asked for 2 slices of bacon with my fruit and yogurt parfait and they did not blink. You will not go hungry and alcohol can be had all day.You will be traveling thru a stunning part of the world. Just know the hotels in Kamloops pretty much a 3 star experience. It is a small town with wonderful people but no resort type hotels. I would love to hear of your experience.
  4. Great tip. We used Am Ex points to get to Hawaii to Delta from Atlanta. You would have many choices from the west coast. We have 3 days in Hawaii and then Hawaii Air to Auckland. I know they have flights to Sydney. Ended up being cheaper use of points and/ or cash when we booked.
  5. I hate that you are testing positive, it makes me so sad for you guys. I am glad you will be free tomorrow regardless. I will say if corporate was lurking on this board, this might be a great time for a surprise bottle of a really good, complimentary bottle of wine….
  6. We are holding our breath that our New Zealand and Australia Feb/March cruise goes according to plan. Due to changes in itinerary we had to kill 4 days at the end in Australia. Thankfully have a great option staying at the One and Only Australia Wolgan Valley prior to a new flight to Bali. The Seabourn refund for 4 less days and our trouble almost covers our changes. We have stays in Bali and Singapore planned so any cancelations will be a hassle. We have had 5 cruises canceled and will stop trying to cruise awhile if this does not pan out. On yes, Monkey Pox. May play into the cruise. I am in the Medical Reserves and just asked to help with vaccinations in my area. A month ago barely in the news…
  7. I hope to hear that you are free. I am glad room service has been good. Food photos wonderful. Are you given linens to change out yourselves? Cleaning supplies? I should have clarified, I did not expect the physician to visibly check you daily but to touch bases. Glad that is happening. i have seen on another social media sight that on Regent a Covid positive passenger was offered Paxlovid and accepted. This drug is not without side effects and it is contraindicated if you are on some medications. If you can take it, it has been shown to shorten the course of Covid. As many know about 5% get a rebound Covid infection ( think Joe Biden). This seems to be a drug that would be worthwhile having on board for passengers and crew. Glad to hear at least one line has it. This would put pressure on the other lines. I am also reading cruise lines doing away with Covid testing pre boarding. We are going to NZ and Australia in February. I expect we will be required to test prior to entering those countries. As I am heavily involved with 88 and 96 year old parents we test all the time and not a big deal to me.
  8. KJBacon, I am sure you are aware you can ask for a special meal of your choosing with 24 hour notice. You may not have much appetite but if you think of anything, ask. With any luck you can be eating it tomorrow at a different venue! I am an RN and our final payment is due in just over a month. Your reports of your experience are concerning, especially the lack of masking in places required and by people required. The whole Covid positive person isolating and negative roaming the ship maskless makes me cringe. Does Seabourn have a written Covid policy you have been able to see? Was Paxlovid offered to you? Are you checked by a physician daily? Any details given to you regarding when you can get out of isolation, for example no symptoms but testing positive after day 10. Sorry for so many questions, I always like to hear about issues from the person experiencing them. I am sorry it is you. Btw, I have taken a look at the Seabourn website and their policy vague.
  9. I am so sorry you are still testing positive. You would have to scrape me off the floor. Are they going to test you daily now? I admire your positive spin, I am not sure I would be so positive. I am very disappointed in Seabourn’s Covid policy. Everyone is put at risk when a person who rooms with a Covid positive person is allowed to roam free. Staff should feel supported if they report a coughing or questionably sick client to the medical team.
  10. . Regent and Seabourn are our favorite cruise lines. We are the odd balls as we lean towards the Regent Navigator and the Seabourn Odyssey. Our favorite ship ever was the very small, non glitzy, Seabourn Pride. We are all about interaction with fellow passengers and crew. We find the smaller ships fit the bill. We have had 2 World Cruises on the Mariner canceled due to Covid. We just knew we would love the ship. We now have a 26 day cruise on the Odyssey next winter. We will probably attempt a Transatlantic on one of the larger Regent ships in 2024. We find the passengers interesting and friendly on both cruise lines. The Regent cruise critic board is more active and we have friends on this board. Seabourn board not as active, still once on board either line we meet the best people. If you were more introverted you would not value what we value. This is why no one cruise line is for everyone. I also think you have to know what would pester you. Waiting for a washing machine would drive me nuts. Included laundry on Regent great. Seabourn charges but for us not a big deal as the upfront charges on Regent more. I like doing some of my own laundry. I am an early bird and on Seabourn I was noticed by crew doing my wash at 6 am. Next think I knew a glass of Champaign and a cup of coffee delivered to me. I think on both these lines have just exceptional service and I am thankful to have the first world problem of picking which one is my favorite.
  11. Hoping the next pictures will show you both out of your suite and enjoying life on this cruise. Thanks for taking the time to tell us about your experience.
  12. We had the same issue on our covid canceled cruise. The transition day was in Tokyo. We were told we could not book shore excursions for that day until we were aboard the ship on day one of the cruise.. We were assured by Regent we would get on the excursion we wanted. They promised they held spots open for situations like ours. Our TA verified this also. We were told our belongings would magically be moved during the day from one suite to the other. i
  13. Jealous of those who have booked as we had two WC’s on Regent canceled due to Covid. We have family issues that are keeping us from long cruises now. Maybe in a few years. Sure love the blogs.
  14. We are hanging out in Australia until the 25th. It is good for people to know about Nyepi Day. Looking forward to meeting you. Lisa (and Mark)
  15. We received the expected itinerary changes and pricing from our TA for our Feb /March NZ to Bali itinerary. We were told several weeks ago the itinerary would be changing..The Australia section of our new itinerary starts and ends in Sydney and skirts the southern coast of Australia. It is several days shorter. The biggest challenge is that we had several days planned in Bali and Singapore. We had airfare back to the US on Air Singapore, using points. My TA is still confirming the numbers of the discounted cruise. It looks like we will have enough money back for a nice stay in the Blue Mountains of Australia and then a flight to Bali. Trying to make lemonade out of lemons. It does have some nice stops like Kangaroo Island and Adelaide. It seems many of the Odyssey itineraries have changed. I guess it is the price of cruising in these times.
  16. DH grew up in Columbia and is a Gamecock. We go to Kiawah several times a year. We live in metro Atlanta. Does that count? Really trying to cruise but 4 Regent cruises canceled the last 2 years and last week my Seabourn cruise canceled. Looking at Regent itinerary’s again…
  17. I appreciate your comments. Any reassurance of a good cruise experience welcome. I hope these issues are resolved prior to February. It is disconcerting on see a poster on another thread blocked while on the cruise. Hopefully Management has seen the importance of transparency. I am glad you are posting.
  18. Ouch, Seabourn and Regent were our favorite cruise lines pre Covid. We have had 4 Regent cruises canceled during covid. We have a 30 day Seabourn cruise in February that is paid in full. We are so looking forward to this cruise. We have a unique itinerary before and after this cruise so we are not able to cancel. I have wondered why CC is so quiet on the Seabourn board. Now I know. I am watching the Regent board light up with live experiences and issues being addressed. I expect minor issues on any ship but not wide spread issues and certainly I expect transparency. I do hope others post their experiences. That includes Scott. I do not think at this time you will get much push back. I personally want to know experiences. If problems were told to management was it fixed? If this type of experience becomes consistent I will have my high volume, luxury travel agent check into it. Dan, thank you for your review Lisa
  19. We paid our 2023 NZ to Bali In full last year. It is refundable until after final payment. For a 30 cruise our savings were substantial.
  20. My DH and I have given up alcohol for health reasons. We have a 30 day cruise next winter. I would hope they had non alcoholic liquors such as Monday and non alcoholic wines. We are social and appreciate having a Non- alcoholic cocktail pre supper and a glass of non alcoholic wine at dinner. I would love to hear from those on board. Is there a non alcoholic drink menu? Can the bartenders can handle a mock-tail request?
  21. The last few Seabourn cruises my DH has worn a sport coat, button down shirt and tie, nice slacks and shoes. Our last cruise, a 2 week Caribbean on Seabourn, he brought 2 ties and never wore them. We counted two men in tuxes and a few in suits and ties. We were booked for the first 2 segments of the 2023 WC and he was going to dress up a bit, to the level of a suit and tie. Might dress up a bit more if we went over New Years. For our 2023 NZ to Bali he is packing a sports coat, nice shirt, slacks and no tie. I agree, to each their own.
