Unless of course you prefer to drink better wines and have bottles in your stateroom. I always brought on bottles of wine and paid corkage even when I actually paid for the beverage package! Nice to bring to the MDR’s since I’ve found it’s almost impossible to get a refill.
I’m guessing this will be moved to the NCL forums, but yes they are co-Ed. I’ve read NCL is starting yo do away with spa cabin classes on their ships, but spa passes will of course still be available for purchase.
We traveled without our kids several times (even leaving a 6 week old with grandparents for 2 nights), but most parents wouldn’t feel comfortable leaving a 2 month old home for a week when they’re not able to immediately head for home in an emergency.
I don’t know, my kids would never agree to go on a vacation in HS, too much work and will college looming? My daughter did miss a week of school 3 years in a row for an international dance completion, high level, it was a huge undertaking which started before she left, while in the hotel, and weeks after the trip. I think she sat out junior year because that’s the most critical year in HS.
They’re not the same thing. NCL used to (still do maybe?) a premium air package that sound more like carnival. The b1g1 is for a discount, they book up the cheapest flights, but once it’s time for your cruise, flight issues are on you and your insurance. It’s like the opposite of a premium package, people take it because it does save money usually.
You know the porter doesn’t work for the cruise line, right? To tell these guys the can’t accept tips for lugging bags to parking lots because they might be in too much of a hurry to check luggage tags that the passengers can certainly check themselves is insane. I love to use them, big family, I want them to hustle (and tip them well). The only person at fault is the other passenger (and I’ve been that passenger…).
Making the actual reservation is of course not stressful, but getting there at the time of the reservation is. During the day we do our own thing, and prefer to decide when to eat later in the afternoon when we see each other again. We like to show up when we are all ready, and not shoot for a prearranged time. Our last cruise was with our 5 teenagers.
We have yet to make MDR reservations on any NCL ship, family of 7, we just go the the larger one, very little wait. My favorite aspect of NCL is not making dining reservations, too many people getting ready, don’t need the stress of a reservation.
Europe has different travel laws. I believe they don’t have a refundable deposit, and I don’t think they pay gratuity on the FAS packages but I’m not sure about that. I’m guessing there are travel insurance policies that can cover missed ports for US cruisers.
