  1. Had teens 15, 15, 17 and 19 in a cabin our last cruise, one night the steward forgot to pull down the Pullman so my daughters squeezed into a twin. They didn’t care.
  2. Sure but I bet that $5 gets you better service. My daughter bartends in Boston to pay her rent for grad school, I’ll have to ask but I’m guessing tipping gets her attention, she prefers $500 shifts.
  3. Due to her medical situation, she probably wouldn’t have been able to purchase trip insurance due to her medical issues anyway.
  4. Then as long as they have charging privileges it couldn’t hurt to try.
  5. Keep in mind this has been a relatively new change, from 2 cleanings down to 1, so I don’t think there is a lot of information yet.
  6. My husband and I cash tip almost always, per drink if we are just buying a drink, or leave cash on the bar when we’re leaving. I believe NCL ships have bells at the pool bars so if you hear them ring, a cash tip has been received.
  7. The free at sea UDP is $20 pp pd, alcoholic drinks range from about $8 - $15 each, so if you drink more than $20 worth of alcoholic drinks, sodas, mock tails a day (so maybe 2?) it’s worth it, so really quite the bargain for most.
  8. Four cruises, family of 7, never made a reservation and never waited, just went to the least filled MDR.
  9. On our second cruise, our oldest was 14 (siblings were 12, 9, 7, 7), she wanted to stay home with her friends, we said no, and made her go to the teen club the first night. She met a bunch of girls (no interest in boys, late bloomer) and had a blast. After that, the only cruise she was hesitant about was when she was 20 (no club to meet others), but she and her 19 year old brother were on a mission, and even ran into a girl they met on a previous cruise, soon they had a posse. She did start out with a bad attitude (again, 14 year old girl), but it worked out.
  10. Or has never, with first child, put that child in a swim diaper, in a car seat, expecting it to work like a pull-up. That’s a one and done rookie parent error.
  11. Servers get taxed on assumed tips, I’ve had kids working as servers and bartenders, basically their paychecks are close to zero after taxes and assumed/verified tips.
  12. It’s not the pee, it’s poop, I’ve had 5 babies/toddlers, swim diapers do not contain it all, and it can make people sick (swim diapers do nothing to hold in pee, a lesson most parents learn quickly before they get in the pool). Some splash areas have special filters to deal with fecal contamination.
  13. True, problem is there aren’t any trays, so might want a plan B, like bring your own tray.
  14. We’re you with the kids? My kids have been able to get virgin drinks with one of us with the UBP standing there, but I’d doubt it would work when they were on their own.
  15. It’s different on every line, and in some cases prices change all of the time.
  16. Those who purchase cruises need to decline the insurance offered, it is always offered. After final payment, no refunds, period. She might be lucky, God forbid she cruised and needed medical attention, most health insurance doesn’t work outside the US! Blame the trip organizer, blame the travel agent, but folks cancel cruises last minute due to illness, job loss, natural disasters, death of loved ones or themselves, injury, poor travel planning, flight cancellations, etc., every day. Not knowing any better doesn’t change the fact that insurance is offered (inexpensive), and gets declined. Although, if any other travelers knew about her medical issues and didn’t mention travel insurance and pre-existing conditions, that’s is unfortunate.
  17. Virgin drinks like pina coladas or mudslides are NOT included in the soda package, Shirley temples are made from soda and are included.
  18. The OP says it’s for an hour, I think a 6 year old can handle it.
  19. It’s just as easy to take a photo with your phone, there is no longer a reason to print out hard copies.
  20. I thought excursions in Spanish are always cheaper than those in English, regardless of where they are booked? I don’t think this is new.
  21. Never get anything from NCL, but get it from Viking every single day for at least 5 years since we’ve been getting my parents mail, they died years ago but got mailings every day for close to 20 years after their one Viking cruise.
  22. Legally she won’t need anything, maybe get a blow up backless booster?
  23. You can bring prepackaged food off of the ships, you can even pack her favorite snacks from home.
  24. Since you can bring unlimited wine for free with the basic plan, I’d figure out if it was cheaper to upgrade vs. buying and bringing my favorite bottles on.
