  1. The earlier post in this thread - #46 - gives you the name of the preferred traveller security lane - not TSA but TSA equivalent. It's a useful idea to read the whole thread from the beginning, your questions may have already been answered.
  2. The Canal is never cheap - solo, double or whatever. And I would be very unlikely to be looking to book a cruise only six months away - I almost invariably book well over a year or more into the future, and while I'm onboard, to help offset the cost of solo cruising. The fare guarantee does work - I regularly check my future bookings for possible fare reductions and my TA is very good at chasing them up - you have to do the work yourself and ask SS for the reduction, it's not offered - but it's worth it. This LA - Vancouver cruise changed price and to a 25% solo supplement after I had booked it and I got over $7K fare reduction.
  3. Muse currently showing cruising the Med till Dec 5th, all cruises priced, but then waitlist - not surprising since she’s supposed to be in Mumbai by December 22nd. So if SS is going for a longer Med season then clearly the subsequent cruises will change.
  4. They say 90 days to cover themselves. I've never had a refund take anything like that, even in the height of the Covid shutdown.
  5. Quoted you to indicate I was, indeed, expanding on what you had stated. I sometimes get the impression that not everyone appears to follow a whole thread in order.
  6. Excellent news Spins, I'll look forward to it. I might have considered the Canal leg too but I just did it this past April on the Nova - in fact, it was going ashore in San Pedro on our way to Vancouver that reminded me all over again why I stay in Long Beach.
  7. I was on the Shadow very recently and this was the case for using the standard, free (well, included in the fare), wifi. Maybe there is some confusion about the double options to upgrade? Using the standard plan, one can upgrade to a second device per log in for $30 per cruise. OR one can upgrade to the premium wifi which (very recently anyway) is $20 per day whole cruise or $29 per 24hr slot for up to four devices simultaneously. When setting up the wifi log in it can be a bit confusing - I once upgraded from one device on standard to two when I meant to upgrade from standard to premium - I had to go to reception to sort it which they did very quickly. Looking at the prices quoted by the OP, they seem to be a mangling of both sorts of upgrade? Now, I'm not saying this hasn't changed but no-one else has reported a change - perhaps we must wait for further reports? I'm not back on board till November ...
  8. PS this is to show where the desk is in relation to the rest of the cabin - the outlets are by the phone at the verandah end of the desk.
  9. Here you are - at the desk and each side of the bed. The USB is only a USB A outlet, no USB C outlets.
  10. I guess ladyjane550 didn't rate us much as a search engine ...
  11. To ladyjane550 - I don't see much if anything in the way of non-stop flights from YQB (Quebec City) to GRR (Grand Rapids) so you are going to have to work on booking a journey of at least two flights so you really need to get that sorted out before you leave for the cruise. Getting to the airport would seem to be the least of your problems, you just get in a taxi after you get off the ship. Don't you have a travel agent?
  12. You can check for day room availability, and make a booking if you want, on the Hilton website or app by inputting the same date for checkin and checkout and you will see if any hotels offer a day rate. For Seattle specifically, if you got a day room (or got a hotel to hold your luggage) in the downtown area, then you can use the light rail system to get to the airport later, it is quick and efficient. You can tap in and out with a debit card. The Link Light Rail: https://www.soundtransit.org https://www.soundtransit.org/ride-with-us/stations/link-light-rail-stations
  13. How interesting! Well, it's a 19 day cruise, plenty of trivia ...
  14. True it doesn’t, but SS probably needs the extra time it will take avoiding the Red Sea and to get round Africa in time for the lucrative Med season without heading into Mumbai.
  15. Well yes it’s $29 per 24hr slot to upgrade from the free internet, but did you ask if that was for one or more devices? The upgrade has always been per account, not per device. I only disembarked two weeks ago so I’m not talking about months ago. And I was on the Nova but four months ago and the upgrade to premium internet was for at least four devices, I always have three going simultaneously.
  16. Last time I was on SS which was pretty recently, to buy the premium internet was about $29 per 24 hr period or about $20 per day full voyage for, I think, four devices. It’s per account, nothing to do with per room. I always buy it and have three devices all connected simultaneously. Don’t understand where you get $29 per device per day from? This does not gel with my experience. I think there’s an option to pay to have more than one device on one account on the standard internet that is free for one device but I can’t understand why anyone would do that, it’s not logical.
  17. Done Torrance. Never been back. Nothing there. Done Hermosa Beach. Never been back. Nothing there.
  18. FWIW, I'm on this cruise and am flying into Santa Ana airport, taking a taxi to Long Beach, staying there for two days, then taking a taxi to San Pedro. IMO, and from previous experience, LAX, LA, and San Pedro are best avoided. I suppose if you haven't been to LA before, areas north and east of LAX may hold some appeal, but this is so true: "Traffic in LA is horrible, public transport is not convenient. Using Uber can be expensive, so is paying for parking if you decide to rent a car. Walking is not an option"
  19. Just get in a taxi at MIA. Talk to your hotel front desk to get you a taxi to Port Everglades. Taxi fare all the way from MIA to the port is somewhere around $120, so I guess a split journey would be a bit more. There used to be shared van options at MIA, there may still be, but after the flight from London you're going to want the quickest and easiest transfer rather than hanging around and being crowded into a van. Or do Uber but I don't know anything about it, never used it, but other posters here comment on it a lot. Dunno if it would save you much over taxis.
  20. PS Prof calculus, There isn't much of a roll call but you might fancy joining it: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/topic/2907487-silver-moon-april-19-2025-la-to-vancouver/#comment-67534542 Also, you might enjoy reading the SS boards as well as the Hawaii one.
  21. I'm on that same cruise and I will do as I always do and take clothes suitable for a range of weather from uncomfortably cool to really quite hot - it's all about layers. One light but windproof jacket is a really good idea. I've cruised the Pacific a few times and it's quite unpredictable, but in general once you are a day or two away from LA it will be pleasant enough to be out and about in tee shirt and shorts. The pool on the Moon is fairly sheltered, although upstairs on deck 11 it will always be windy when out on the open ocean. In the evenings Hot Rocks and Spaccanapoli are the best places to be, if it's cool, Hot Rocks has wind shields and both have heaters and you have the wonderful open sky and stars all above you. Or get the same view, plus the wake of the ship, while sipping champagne or other drink of your choice from the seats outside the Panorama on deck 9.
  22. For Fusina, look at the #16 vaporetto route. I don't know for sure, but it does look as though the ferry stop is a very short walk to the cruise terminal, and the ships are no longer at a commercial dock where you were not allowed to walk around independently. But that does need to be confirmed. https://www.visit-venice-italy.com/water-bus-venice-line-16.html
  23. I don’t know but maybe SS are trying to decide if they can go through the Somalia / Yemen / Red Sea waters?
  24. I'd second this option. House Without a Key does the best Mai Tai I have ever tasted and the setting is stunning.
