  1. @mysty I hope that is the last of your glitches. Have an amazing trip!!!
  2. I did a scale drawing based on the dimensions they sent me of the space between the bed and wall and the bed dimensions. I’m not sure yet appears it should work. . Will await hearing from them as they can measure themselves. They have 36 days to solve this before we board. Fingers crossed.
  3. @AnnaS thank you for bringing the lack of space next to the bed to my attention. It is indeed impossible for a wheelchair to squeeze into 40 cm (15.5 inches). I’m working with the team at Silversea to solve the issue. Probably will be pivoting the bed 90 degrees. They have assured me the AC is working so I hope that means the heat as well though the AC will be more of a concern on our journey. thanks again
  4. @AnneS I will reach out. Thank you for the alert. Do you know if they were able to fix the temperature issues in the room? We don’t sail until January 4. Do you by any chance have a direct contact email for the Hotel Director? Generally the only changes they make are seperating the beds or combining them. We would want them combined. thanks for your help! jean
  5. This is very concerning as I am a paraplegic and most have access to the bed. I hope it was just an optical illusion. The voyage and most of the segments are waitlisted. We were waitlisted for a cabin change but none cleared. We’re you assigned an ADA cabin as it sounds like you didn’t need it since the cabin you are in now is not ADA.
  6. Glad you got what you need. For me that won’t be that simple as we need the ADA room. I hope the resolve the heating issue by January. It gives them 50+ days so hopefully it will be a non issue for us.
  7. I hope they have resolved this for you and you are warm now. Please keep us posted as we are in the same cabin 9041 on January 4 for 71 days. I get cold easily. No option to change cabins. (We have been trying for 8 months).
  8. Not sure if this helps. We are on a SA GV , the overland options trickled in with most coming in October/November for a January 4 sailing.
  9. We are considering trying RSSC and Oceania's new ships. We have never sailed either product and have only taken one NCL cruise. We have 30+ cruises mainly on RCI products. I have a few questions: (Please if you do not have experience and are just speculating please be clear that this is the case). Tendering - cruise lines have varying philosophies around tendering in theory and in reality. Example: Cunard will not let people in wheelchairs use tenders. RCI products will for the most part (with a couple of surprising exceptions in Europe) move heaven and earth to get a wheelchair user on and off the tenders. What is your experience tendering in a light weight manual wheelchair if unable to walk or stand on these two lines? Do these lines offer help getting up and down ramps to disembark at ports? Where there any docked ports that they did not provide a means of exit and entry to those that used a wheelchair full time? Please share any additional information regarding wheelchair accessibility you think would be helpful in deciding to try these lines are not. Thank you for your help!
  10. Thank you for taking the time to provide this information. Very helpful. Do you have a link to your first two weeks in Silver Muse?
  11. Thank you for the information, it is very helpful. I plan to go straight away and sign up as it seems like the perfect way to celebrate our anniversary.
  12. I am looking forward to the Chef’s table for our anniversary. I have a few questions: -who or how do we sign up after embarkation? - @Lois R would you be so kind as to enquire if the Chef’s table is wheelchair accessible and also if the cooking class are? (Only if you have time). thanks so much.
  13. Looking forward to hearing your experience. We love TAs. We use them more for transportation after travel then as stand alone trips, who knows what the future will bring. We are on Deck 9 in January so, I am particularly interested in how that goes. Bon Voyage
  14. Misty, Thank you for all the helpful information about suitcases and dress requirements. The simple dress code information is very convenient and drama free. In college as part of my requirements I studied the history of fashion in depth, that is why I find the threads so amusing. Like time, fashion does not stand still. Ok I am slipping down the rabbit hole... I am so excited about this trip and it is so much fun to think and plan for it. I really so prefer chatting about it then dealing with day to day life. Mr. WNF's brother is here visiting with his son so I am typing while WNF and his brother (former professional musician) are jamming on the guitar. They're really good. Again, thank you. Jean
  15. HI Mysty, I am back... Received an email from SSea reference luggage forward. Pick up is December 27. Now I can plan accordingly. I see the weight restrictions for the luggage forward bags but not the dimensions, where might I find this information? We have one suitcase that will work well for shoes and clothes though it is a big suitcase. Also do soft sided garment bags do ok being shipped (so much easier then folding dress clothes)? I know this is a touchy subject but I can not seem to find the current Silver Nova dress code information. Do you have a link? (do not want to start a whole thread nor a debate about clothes despite the fact that I find them very amusing). As always, thank you for your assistance
  16. Good idea, will do. We also have an apple tracker in each of our suitcases. Came in handy in Amsterdam when our suitcase fell of the conveyor belt right behind where it comes out, the staff there was clueless.
  17. Easy to send paperwork overnight. If I haven’t heard by the time we return to Cali I’ll my TA check.
  18. Thank you. I wish I knew now so I could plan as we do not spend much time in December in LA. Oh well I think we will just need to have them packed and ready to go before we leave on December 5. Then a friend or daughter can come tag them for pick up. Luckily we have 24/7 front desk to give them out. It would be great if they were picked up on December 18 when we are there but I think that is a lot to hope for. The holidays makes shipping a longer process I assume. Hmm you are also traveling for twice as long as us so we should be able to take your bag numbers and cut them in half. I love to have choices, so it will be hard not to pack my entire wardrobe.
  19. One follow up, about when and how will we learn of our pick up date for luggage shipping? I take it you are taking 3 cases to Bridgetown as your luggage will not join you until San Fran? We only have two days in Ft. Lauderdale before we board and are reunited with our luggage. We could manage with a carry on and cosmetic bag, if we can manage to get all our clothes into 2 shipped bags. 2 bags will be dedicated to supplies I need as a paraplegic, the contents will be used and the two bags will be empty and collapsed on the way back. Hmm. talking to you is really helping me sort this all out. Two waitlisted excursions cleared today. Thanks so much for all the help!
  20. HI Mysty, Taking you up on some questions. 1) I love this itinerary you are doing, it goes everywhere I want to go to and skips places I do not want to go to. We are already booked on the SA GV so joining you at the last minute is not an option. I do not see any WC or GV that are similar. Has this itinerary been offered before? Should I keep my fingers crossed that it will be offered again soon or is that unlikely? (ok, i know you do not have crystal ball but you are amore experienced WC traveler). 2) I like to enlist your help on a packing timeline. When should we actually but clothes in suitcases? Also, what should she take with us verses ship? (Hate to admit this but we could each take 3 additional suitcases on the airplane, however, we have no desire to do this). Do you check luggage or just do a carry on? working backwards: Thursday, January, 4 ship departs Ft. Lauderdale Tuesday, January, 2 we depart Los Angeles for Ft. Lauderdale Thursday, December 28, we arrive in Los Angeles ???? Silversea Luggage service picks up suitcases in Los Angeles Friday, December 15- Tuesday December 19 in Los Angeles, (for an event on December 17) Saturday, November 18 -Tuesday, December 5 in Los Angeles (multiple birthdays, US Thanksgiving, daughter's wedding planning obligations) 3) Do you have any suggestions as to what information we should put in our suitcase in terms of booking information, itinerary? Thanks so much. Jean
  21. Misty, Would you please come to my place and organize me. I find reading your process so fascinating and strive to replicate it but get easily distracted... We are 66 days out from sailing and 64 days out until our departure. I can not seem to figure out a reasonable approach of what to do when... So far, I believe I have moved all the clothes and items we need to our condo in California from our home in NM so I can pack when I am in California in a few weeks. Help!!! Please send advice... Thanks so much, Lost in Space, Jean PS I have booked all our excursions through my silversea as well as Tours by Locals, and also picked on our - on our own days.
  22. Look at Silversea Nova and the upcoming Ray. SSea is very accommodating to wheelchairs though the older ships don’t have the automatic doors to the outside. The Nova seems like it does. Won’t be on it until January but take a look online for yourselves.
  23. I am right there with you and our cruise on the Nova is not until January 4, 2024. 🙃
  24. My SIL had problems and called Silversea and they gave her a temp log in that worked explaining that there is some glitch with first time users and the system. As others have said it is a temperamental website at best. Good luck.
