  1. Good morning and Happy Tuesday from sunny Tucson. It’s supposed to get to 80F today. Yikes. But cooler after that. Craig is enjoying reading by the pool. Thank you all for your welcome home wishes. Our PCC even called to welcome us home. We have had a very stressful and tiring ending of our cruise. Craig became ill with what I thought was a cold but he was coughing; when he went to medical onboard he tested positive for covid. I tested negative and have had no symptoms and tested again after getting home. He was confined to our cabin. I tired to stay away as much as possible. I don’t think I’ll ever get him back on a BHB again, at least for a long while. Having had covid during two special cruises, the Med June 2022 and this one, is just too much for him to get over. I might have to sail solo for a few years. I would love to go back to Hawaii again, there is much to see. BTW, medical charges $100 to see the doctor and $777 for Plaxlovid and $38 for a covid self test. Yes, I forgot to bring my own tests. I’ll be sending it in to the insurance. Our disembarkation day and return flight home on Saturday was both fun and boring. Our flight wasn’t until 5pm so we decided to take a city tour and transfer to the airport. The city tour was fun and we ate lunch in Old Town but our time at the airport was boring because our flight was delayed. We didn’t get home until after 10pm MST. This time of year we are on MST so we are an hour later than San Diego. I haven’t caught up with the Daily yet and I’m behind because the last few days have been hectic. Have a great day everyone!
  2. Nancy, we are about 12 cabins toward midship from Lenda on the same side, port. We have also been unable to use the balcony. Too cool and too much spray. Craig has used it probably 20 minutes total. We were just talking about not being able to use it and I agree with Jacqui, having the full length windows is still a big plus.
  3. Good early afternoon from somewhere in the Pacific, almost halfway between Hawaii and Ensenada. The Captain just said during his noon announcement that halfway will occur at 2:30 this afternoon. Nancy @ottahand7, wow on your Tamarind experience. Ours was the exact opposite. I felt very rushed and the female server talked so fast I had to ask her to repeat most everything. Debbie @dfish and Lenda @Quartzsite Cruiser, I also had the tenderloin and it was tough but cooked perfectly. I should have realized it wasn’t going to be good when our server told me that I should choose the upsell tenderloin and lobster instead, but $25?? Big no. I need to run. Craig is ready for lunch. Have a great day!
  4. Good morning and Happy Sunday from the beautiful Koningsdam! I need to post before I read today because I’ve missed so much on the Daily the past few days. @Haljo1935, I missed your birthday yesterday. Happy Belated Birthday! The flowers you got from DH sound wonderful. Nancy @ottahand7, the demographic on this sailing seems to be mostly retired people but I have talked to a few who are working and one who is working while on the cruise. There are some younger people but not many. I haven’t been to the casino yet so not sure that demographic. Any thing else you would like to know I’ll try to find out. I started this post this morning so now I should say good evening! My pictures from Giardini Naxos: We were in Giardini Naxos June 7, 2022 on the Oosterdam. Craig was still in Covid isolation and I originally wasn’t going to do anything in port because I didn’t want to venture out on my own. At the last minute I decided to take a winery excursion and it was an enjoyable afternoon. Early morning arrival and tenders starting: My view from my Neptune Suite of Mt Etna: Our location: Taxi prices from Giardini Naxos. The Oosterdam and a Scenic Cruises ship. We were dropped off here to walk to the winery. Views along the way. Mt Etna My purchases. View from my balcony right before sail away. The glow from Mt Etna seemed more intense in person than this picture shows. I really enjoyed my day here and hope to go back to see Taormina next time.
  5. Yes, Oahu was yesterday and Maui is today. Since I can’t post on that thread now I’m posting here about my tour yesterday because I didn’t post yesterday. I cut and pasted Lenda’s drink picture.
  6. Lenda @Quartzsite Cruiser, regarding your HOHO trolley experience yesterday, I found out about the shuttle from the ship to the main starting point for the trolley’s only after I was on the shuttle. The person I sat next to was very informative, however I didn’t find out about the shuttle return to the ship being not until 3:30 until I got back from the 2 hour tour. I was misinformed that the shuttle to the ship was the red line and it arrived every hour on the hour. Because we missed the 11:00 red line I passed the time at a food court across the street, came back to take the noon shuttle and then found out that it only went to the tower and the walk to the ship was 1/6 mile and that the shuttle directly to the ship was not until 3:30. Oh boy, was I upset. Normally that walk would have been okay but I wasn’t up for it after all the wind. So Craig came in an Uber and picked me up. Thank goodness! So I’m with you on the miscommunication from shore excursions. Quartzsite Cruiser Posted 15 hours ago #85 Drink of the day now on Koningsdam. Oh yum! So, I have to know, what is the name of this delightful looking drink?
  7. Good morning and Happy Thursday from the beautiful Koningsdam docked in Kahului, Maui. Yesterday I went on the HOHO trolley and it was so beautiful. It was the line that went to Koko Head and further to Hunama Bay, the blow hole, and Sea Life Park. I stayed on the entire time. And the wind! I didn’t think I was going to have any hair left. Today we are walking around and have plans to go to a little cafe owned by a Top Chef participant, Sheldon Simeon. It should be fun. I’m looking forward to having his macaroni salad. Last night we went to Club Orange for dinner with another couple we’ve been talking to at the Ocean Bar. They are from Montreal but the DH is originally from the Saguenay area and the DW originally from the Quebec City area. I love it when she says oui oui. Lots of fun. Pennie @Nickelpenny, I was so heartbroken to hear about the baby zebra. I spoke with my DM and she said that there was snow halfway down the Catalinas. I bet it’s beautiful. Well, I’ve been writing this off and on for over an hour and we need to head out. Have a great day everyone!
  8. Good evening from beautiful Honolulu! We had an eventful day and I’ll have to tell the story later. In a nutshell we got lost and finally called an Uber to get us out of the mall. Unlike Debbie we couldn’t find the way out. Then we went to the Hilton Hawaiian Village and walked around. It was beautiful. We ate lunch at Aoki. I just had to eat there because we had eaten there 40 years ago when it was called Benihana. I recently watched a show about Rocky Aoki which was very interesting. Have a good evening!
  9. Also look for the pellets. Take five pellets 3 times a day. Those and the gel together are a good combo. I just order them on Amazon now.
  10. Good afternoon and Happy Monday from the beautiful Koningsdam. Of course we are disappointed that we missed our port but the benefit of seeing the Napali Coast are special. Unfortunately, we are on the port side so can’t view land right now but the Captain has promised to turn the ship around when we get there. Narration starts at 1:45. We will go to lunch and possibly trivia. I hear Debbie and Lenda are quite the team. I did see Dixie the other day in the elevator but haven’t seen her since. Our meal last night at Rudi’s was delightful and we really enjoyed the company more. Debbie and Sue are great dining companions. Have a great day everyone!
  11. Good morning and Happy Sunday from the beautiful Koningsdam! The seas look choppy and we are rolling but I’m doing okay as long as I don’t watch the motion. Internet is slow. Joy @Seasick Sailor , thank you for your reply. I think you mentioned Oliver’s mixed breed before but I had forgotten. He is just so adorable. I’m so happy you rescued him. Graham @grapau27, I am so sorry about your loss in your church family. Prayers for Julia’s husband. The cooking demo was good and interesting. Debbie’s pictures are better than mine. We are planning to attend the hula and ukulele program at 1:00 right after lunch. Thoughts and prayers for all. Have a great day everyone!
  12. Joy, Oliver is the sweetest! Do you know his breed? He’s so tiny!
  13. Jane @lazey1, I’m so sorry you’ve not felt well. Prayers to you that they find the best treatment plan. It’s the Melanie arrangement but I specifically asked for it to be tropical. I ordered it the first sea day and asked for something around $50. It was $49.99.
  14. Good morning and Happy Saturday from the beautiful Koningsdam. It is choppy. I went to the Crows Nest but couldn’t take the bumps so I’m at the Ocean Bar. Now I’m just sliding a bit. Still can’t walk a straight line. 🤣 My flowers are beautiful. Opening up. Today in the MDR is a Hawaiian Brunch. Menu looks fun. They were closed for breakfast and the brunch is 9-1. I thought that meant Club Orange was closed too but it was open so we had breakfast there and will have the brunch about 12:15. When I was in the Crows Nest I saw this. Not sure if there will be more Mardi Gras events. Debbie @dfish, oh dear about Sue’s migraine. Please tell her to get better. Joy!! @Seasick Sailor, Oliver is quite the character! What an adorable picture. Have a great day everyone!
  15. I’m at the Crows Nest now and sitting at the bar. This is on the top of the counter. It’s the first thing I’ve seen mention of anything Mardi Gras.
  16. I love it Debbie! But of course Blue is my favorite color. Annie, I’m sorry about Bubbles but I know you did the right thing. But still it’s hard.
  17. Craig took this sunrise picture from the Lido this morning when he was having his cup of tea.
  18. Good morning and Happy Friday from the beautiful Koningsdam! We set our clocks back one hour early so had a nice sleep in morning. Club Orange was full with 3 ahead of us when we went to breakfast at 8:00 so we went to the MDR which was also packed. Wow. The Mariner Luncheon was nice yesterday. My filet was actually better than the filet I had at dinner. I even told the CO matre’d. We ate lunch with Debbie @dfish and Sue and I am a witness that Debbie really doesn’t eat carrots. 🤣 Mariner luncheon—Lobster starter Mariner luncheon—filet I feel lazy today. I think Craig is having pizza and I’m having pea soup for lunch. Maybe I can talk him into lunch at the Pinnacle Grill. The MDR is closed for lunch today. We were told that they are having 3 Mariner Luncheons so I’m thinking today is the second one. The flowers I ordered are starting to open up and are beautiful. I’ll take a picture soon. Have a great day!
  19. Oh Debbie I’m so sorry you feel the rolling and rocking. Funny but I’m okay and I’m usually the one on the floor. I have had problems walking a straight line! I think taking the Bonine ahead of time has helped. There was a moment at the Ocean Bar that the bottles went flying but the very deft bartender caught them. I’m not going anywhere else so even though it’s early I’m in bed.
  20. Good morning from the Koningsdam! Our Daily group: I ordered flowers for the room and asked for something tropical and about $50. I think these are perfect. Off to play Scrabble with Craig.
  21. Good evening from the Koningsdam! The internet has been horrible today and I even upgraded to premium. Our get together last night was wonderful. It’s taking forever to download pictures so I’ll do that tomorrow. It’s been rolling and bumpy today. Just went to the Captain’s welcome toast. Big turnout. This morning the turnout for the Hawaii talk was overflowing and standing room only so we left. Have a good evening!
  22. Good afternoon from San Diego! We arrived about noon and have already checked into our hotel. Now we are having a drink in Little Italy and then going to lunch. It’s a beautiful day! Tomorrow the Koningsdam! I haven’t read the Daily yet so I hope all is well. Have a great day!
