  1. I realized this after I posted and deleted my post. Oops! I had too many windows open in Safari on my phone and was looking at yesterday’s Daily. Your mesquite tree really filled out. They do grow fast. We had to remove the mesquite in our front yard after we had lived here for about 10 years. It was about 15 years old and too huge for the space and was starting to mess up the sidewalk. We replaced it with a fruitless olive.
  2. Good morning everyone and Happy Tuesday. My first thought about the quote was that Alanis Morrisette was being sarcastic. I’ll pass on the meal suggestion but French toast sounds really good, just wish I had some bread. My DM asked for bread on Thanksgiving to take home a Turkey sandwich but that didn’t happen, sorry Mom. Next year I’ll make sure that I have bread for her. I might just make some no knead bread today. We have been to Naples twice, on the Rotterdam in May 2001 and the Oosterdam in June 2022. I’ll gather some pictures and post in a bit. Craig got out the Christmas tree and working on fluffing it up. It usually takes several days to finish. Roy @rafinmd, my thoughts and prayers are with you for a speedy recovery and that you will be able to travel home soon. Joy @Seasick Sailor, great picture of you and Allen! So good to see you having a great time on your cruise. Debbie @dfish and Dixie @summer slope, I’ll be watching the hula from the audience also! I’m so uncoordinated that I’d be on my face or going the opposite direction from everyone else. I started my eye drops yesterday, paid the doctor fee and preregistered at the surgery center but still need to pay the surgery center. I’m almost ready for Thursday. Have a great day everyone!
  3. Annie, my secret ingredient is nutmeg. I also add the vanilla and cinnamon. And for a special occasion I add some Grand Marnier and top with sliced strawberries marinated in Grand Mariner. I know you don’t drink alcohol but you could substitute with a little orange juice.
  4. Deleted—ooops. That’s what happens when you have too many windows open looking at different websites!
  5. Actually, it’s goat cheese not feta although feta would be great. I’m not a huge fan of just egg whites but this frittata is excellent and my usual breakfast order.
  6. What a big group of people gathered for the show! Are they selling Hawaiian shirts/dresses onboard? This is making me even more excited about my upcoming Hawaiian cruise. Debbie @dfish, Dixie @summer slope, and Sue— are you all going to hula?
  7. Good afternoon everyone and Happy Monday. Took DM to her hearing appointment and it turns out her hearing aides needed cleaning. They also need an update. That appointment is in January. However, just like the audiologist said, she is essentially deaf. He didn’t use that term but that’s what it amounts to. I hope Roy @rafinmd is able to get treatment quickly. We are rooting for you! Bruce @aliaschief, wow on that break! Was that from the fall you had on a BHB missing a step and landing at the elevators? No wonder! Prayers to all. Have a great day everyone!
  8. Thank you both for your kind wishes. My doctor won’t do both eyes at the same time so they are one week apart. Drops are fine for me but I remember my DM couldn’t. Eva, I’m not sure my doctor has restrictions about water in the eyes afterward but I can work that out later. The goggles sound like a great idea. Graham, I think they will give another type of sedation plus the numbing drops. Not sure but I think I’ll need some kind of relaxation meds. Gosh, I’m not surprised that Mt Lemmon got snow! I didn’t even look at the mountains all day, it was just too rainy and cold. I’m a wimp in the cold. Enjoy sunny Hawaii! Loved your bracelet. I’d love to see your hula on Hulu. 😉
  9. Good morning everyone and Happy Saturday from a chilly, rainy Tucson. It’s been drizzling/raining all morning. I stayed up late last night watching Christmas movies on Netflix. I’m not going out today so I won’t visit a small business. Craig is going to Total Wine so that doesn’t count either. I like stuffed peppers and haven’t made them in a long time. Not sure if I’d like a vegan version. Now that Thanksgiving is over I’m getting nervous about my upcoming cataract surgeries. I knew I’d have to start prepping soon so pulled out my paperwork and I start the drops on Monday. I was supposed to pay the extra fee for the specialty lenses one week before but that didn’t happen, I’ll have to call them Monday. Have a great day everyone!
  10. Good morning everyone and Happy Friday. I don’t shop Black Friday deals specifically but my email inbox is filled with offers. Yesterday’s Thanksgiving meal was great, although an hour behind because somehow Craig accidentally shut the grill vents instead of opening them and had to restart the fire. So even though it was behind I felt rushed when that happened. And for some reason my rolls fell, I think I over proofed them. My DM didn’t hear a thing, we think she has stopped wearing her hearing aides. She has insisted on seeing a new hearing company after meeting the mother of one of the board of directors. That appointment is Monday so we will see. Bon Voyage to Joy and Allen @Seasick Sailor, @Niagarawine, and @Himself! Joy, that’s amazing how quickly you got onboard. Happy Heavenly Birthday Jose. Jacqui @kazu, it’s good you will be with your BFF. Happy Anniversary @Vict0riann! Linda @lindaler, your travel day sounded sooooo long! Glad you are home. Are you still going on the Grand Australia cruise? Pennie @Nickelpenny, thank you for your pictures and checking in with us. Enjoy! Someone mentioned staying at the Wyndham Bayside, so just an FYI. Craig stayed there while I was in Coronado with my girlfriends and said that there was occasional noise coming from somewhere like it might be construction or remodeling although it wasn’t bad. Also, the rooms are in need of a redo, the carpet is old. All that said, it really is a convenient place to stay pre cruise and we are planning on staying there in January. We’ve stayed there for every San Diego departure. Have a great day everyone!
  11. Good evening everyone! Happy Thanksgiving! I will catch up with the Fleet and Daily tomorrow but wanted to stop by to say hi and wish you all a great Thanksgiving.
  12. Bon Voyage! I’m enjoying your reports and pictures. I’ve always wanted to do a TA so am eager to read what you think. Enjoy!
  13. I wouldn’t bother especially if the new one doesn’t have Priority on it (but probably would). I embarked in Fort Lauderdale in April and breezed right through but it was later, about 1:00pm so that might have helped. In December 2021 we had CO and Priority on our boarding passes and got there early and went through the CO line quickly.
  14. Good to hear that went well but yuck on getting covid. I hope your DW avoids getting it. It’s crummy feeling crummy after a vacation.
  15. Oops! I just realized that I’m talking about a different meal of the day. As for vegetarian chili I’m not a fan, especially if it has extra chunky veggies. I much prefer ground beef and pinto beans in my chili.
  16. Good morning everyone and Happy Wednesday! It’s chilly and the high should be 74F. We were surprised to see that our pool was serviced already this morning when we let Blue out. He usually comes on Thursday but later in the morning and Blue goes crazy if he hears the noise from the wrought iron gate and fencing that are around the pool, sort of like the door bangers on BHB’s. Craig is getting ready for a follow up with the dentist after his dental surgery last week and is planning on running by TJ’s for another pumpkin pie and wine. They were out of Charles Shaw SB and pie on Monday. I am not going for a ride today but will celebrate cranberry relish and freckles. DGD has the cutest freckles. I’ll pass on the meal suggestion but I have made it before, but I used precut butternut squash and left it in chunks. I think it was a Pioneer Woman recipe. Dixie @summer slope, I hope your DH feels better soon. Crazy about having to have a wellness check but yay on the gift card. I hate that crazy Medicare form you have to fill out when you have a physical. @seagarsmoker, I’m late catching up with the Daily and just read the awful news about your job. Thinking of you and best wishes for finding something soon. Annie @marshhawk, I hope you are feeling better and get the oxygen soon. My DSIL uses oxygen at night as a result of her bout with covid July 2020 when she almost died. Have a great day everyone and enjoy prepping for Thanksgiving!
  17. @1ANGELCAT Happy 70th Birthday! I’m right behind you in a year and 7 months. Crazy because I don’t know how that happened! Pennie @Nickelpenny, Bon Voyage! Enjoy! Linda @lindaler, Welcome Home! @Heartgrove, did you have any issues traveling through that fire area you mentioned a few days ago? Nancy @ottahand7, I think it was you who mentioned that you had a hard time finding Wondra flour. I did too and finally bought it on Amazon. It is great for making gravy and use it for other things too. Lenda @Quartzsite Cruiser, so good to know you both got home yesterday safely.
  18. Good evening. Dressing is made and par cooked. I was supposed to do something with all my cookbooks so they weren’t in the way but that hasn’t happened, just too tired. Hopefully tomorrow along with dusting and setting the table. Sweet dreams and good sleep to all.
  19. So funny you say this! DGD does the same thing. She’s always asking to use my earbuds but has broken several by twisting them. On one of our ship excursions we used disposable single earbuds and I kept them and now I have her use them instead. We try to monitor the sound too. A great Christmas movie for her to watch is The Christmas Chronicles. It’s on Netflix. One of our annual traditions.
  20. Good morning everyone and Happy Tuesday from a chilly Tucson. I might have to turn on the heater soon. I hate being cold even though I was born and raised in Colorado. Problem with turning the heater on is that I then have to turn the air conditioner on in the afternoon to take a nap. We’ve been busy with “stuff” and dental and dermatology appointments and getting ready for Thanksgiving at our house. We are making everything except for the green beans with tomatoes which our DD is making. I gave her all the ingredients and the recipe. I chopped all my dressing ingredients yesterday morning and made the sweet potato casserole last night. Craig is working on his wonderful mashed potatoes right now. My fridge is getting full and I had to reorganize it in order for everything to fit along with the whole chicken and one Turkey breast defrosting. Lenda @Quartzsite Cruiser, I read about your bump into the motor home—ouch! I hope it’s not too windy going west after Tucson. I thought of you this morning as you were making your way through on I10. Hopefully you will arrive early and can settle in. I bet you are eager to see your house after missing last year. Joy @Seasick Sailor, so exciting that you sail Friday. I hope you are able to stay in touch. Oliver looked so cute in his picture with his tie on! Do you have a friend taking care of him? Vanessa @JazzyV, I also like the way you are putting the names in bold on the Celebration List. Thank you for all you do! It’s a big job. I hope you feel better soon too. Debbie @dfish, I’m so glad to hear that River is spending Thanksgiving with you and Sue. She is making memories. Have a great day!
  21. @Denise T We’ve only stayed at the Château Frontenac. It was lovely. It has great restaurants and they offer a free walking tour of the nearby historic sites. Also great restaurants within walking distance. However, next time I would like to try a smaller hotel.
  22. Good morning and Happy Sunday. I’ll happily celebrate French Dip day. I love them and am always looking for them on a menu. I make a simplified version at home using thinly sliced rare roast beef from the grocery deli and usually add cheese, and make a jus with canned beef consommé. The meal suggestion sounds good but we are having dry rubbed chicken wings with homemade French fries today. I discovered a great way to make fries from Mary Berg. I just love her. I make Debbie’s @dfish recipe for the wings but use a dry spice instead. Happy Birthday Jake @Crazy For Cats! Happy Birthday to Sandi’s @StLouisCruisers DS! Jane @lazey1 I hope you feel better soon and I’m sorry that you had to cancel your cruise. I had a great time last weekend with my girlfriends in Coronado. We had good fellowship and food and wine. The vrbo was beautiful with a huge kitchen. On Saturday we went to the Hotel del Coronado for lunch and were lucky to get a corner area on the outdoor terrace. Just gorgeous. The Westgate was wonderful, thank you for the recommendation Jacqui @kazu! However, it wasn’t busy, which was nice in a way but weird when we ate in their restaurant and only two tables were occupied. They happened to be filming one morning, not sure what it was for but I’m thinking maybe a commercial. They filmed different things like a couple checking in, the tea that they have on weekends, dinner in the restaurant, etc. It would be a lovely place for a wedding. It is very walkable to many downtown areas although we did Uber a lot. Craig and I were able to visit the old apartment we lived in when we were first married and the college we went to but so much has changed, the apartment is run down and the college has grown so much we hardly recognized some areas. Good memories. Apartment: View from the college over Sunset Cliffs. The building in the distance to the far left was Craig’s dorm: Have a great day everyone!
