  1. I started sailing for my first time with royal around 2007[emoji682] or so. I can tell they are cutting corners to save money [emoji408]and I applaud most of their decision ex, chocolate on your pillow [emoji933], midnight buffet etc, but sometimes they seem really ridiculous in some of their strategy.

2-3 years ago we had enough [emoji1361]and wanted to try something different. [emoji52]MSC was our experimental cruise line and although the ship was beautiful and more elegant that royal in my opinion the crew was really rude with a visible face of I don’t care.

    [emoji1600]So what are my options?

    🛑Carnival ? I won’t even give you my opinion

[emoji6]MSC? Nice ships, amazing MDR food but a negative vibre around the ship

[emoji13]NCL? Maybe but it’s completely different to Royal concepts and the crew can be a hit or miss

[emoji851]Celebrity cruise? 0 experience with them but doing a little reacher will I be bored onboard due to the target demographic ?

🤡Disney? Saving it for my kids, not now

    So what is really left?

Yeah we are continuing heading back to royal[emoji127]

    What about Princess?

  2. Jimbo, the club class dining is offered with mini suites. You pay an additional fee for club class with the mini suite. If your wife wants to be in aft of ship; then go with Royal Princess and the mini suite. It is nice location. I have an aft reserved for my next cruise; and have sailed in aft suites on other cruise lines. Glacier bay is awesome. Like I mentioned earlier Princess does a great job in Alaska. We did the inside passage roundtrip from Seattle last July. Excellent trip; Princess was so good that I booked my next cruise with them.

  3. I had them in Sorrento. The hotel had an restaurant by the pool and they had a wood fired pizza oven. They also had orange trees and olive trees and made there own orange juice and olive oil. All in the centre of the town. All the food I had in Italy was so good.

    Best wishes, Stephen.

reading your post makes me want to head over to Sorrento. Thanks for the info

  4. Royal is a grand suite for 13 days for $12,000 and Princess is mini suite for 15 days at $10,000. Skagway is nice port. Juneau is great as is Ketchikan; since you have been to these ports except Skagway I might want to go do that port. Last July we sailed in suite on Princess. It was excellent, they treated us great; they had a naturalist onboard the entire cruise. They brought puppies on ship in Juneau. here is what I would do; go with club class mini suite on Princess. Club class dining is worth the money

  5. Question for those who have sailed on CB. I will be staying in Cabin C-749. Anyone who's stayed in this cabin; please provide comments for me. Thanks. also did someone say drydock was Mar 11. Is this to swap bedding out; or will they be doing other things; like carpet, paint etc? Thanks for any feedback. Cheers

  6. We are looking to book for October sail. We are deciding between mini suite and mini suite club class. Is the club class worth it?

I say yes its worth it. First you never have to wait for a table. You will be seated right away no matter what time you show up. Second, the ratio of staff to tables is great. There is always two or three wait staff getting your food and drink. They have an expanded menu from MDR; and they cook items at your table. Certain nights or lunch; they have specials where they cook right at the table. My wife and I and our two grandkids loved Club Class dining

  7. Interesting thread, at the present time we are trying to decide whether to do Radiance of the Seas in a Grand Suite or the one of the newest ships Princess has out right now. The Royal Princess in a Mini Suite for the summer of 2019 in Alaska.

I'm wondering how this comparison would have swung if they were the Royal Princess(5 year old) ship rather then the 14 year old Caribbean Princess?

Anyone on here been on Radiance and Royal Princess to compare for me? We are also Diamond Plus and this would be our first Princess Cruise if we decide to go with them.

    Jimbo:)

The biggest difference would be your suite perks with Royal. I have been in the grand suite and its nice; the suite perks are nice too. Sailed Emerald Princess in a suite to Alaska last July. The suite perks were very nice with Princess. Have not been on Royal so can not comment on the Mini Suite. I did hear on other threads that the balconies on Royal were smaller than other ships.

  8. With some planning it can be done. Coordination is the key. Don't set high expectations. Like you all can't be at all places at the same time; because you have kids of different ages who will be doing different things. I would say shows and dinner would be the main time to have everyone together; the rest of the time; let each family do what they want. We did this cruise with 15 and it worked. We went to shows and dinner. Rest of the time we did our own things. We had an owners suite and that was the hang out for family. Everyone else had inside and balconies; but we were all on same floor so it worked well

  9. Hi, I cruised on Emerald to last July. Pool was not used entire trip. Temps ranged in the 50's to low 60's. The Sanctuary was not used either. Hot tubs were used especially at night

  10. Thanks for your review; Princess does have the Piazza with all the shops, and the international café; which does have regular coffee in addition to specialty coffee's. I think the piazza shops are about the same as the centrum shops on the smaller royal Caribbean ships. also in main dining room; did you not try the fettucinni alfredo which can be had by itself or in a parmesan basket? It is offered every night. You had mini suite; but I assume you didn not go with club class dining; The theater holds 800; which is not great; because if everyone on the ship wanted to attended the first or last show of the cruise there is no way it could happen. Theater is way to small
