She was fitted for the medallion program in January along with some other changes.
Well alright then; she is ready for the medallion guests

Tony and AMS Cruiser I am glad you liked my pics and AMS I am glad you got the hang of posting. It means so much when you have the large picture to show someone

The views were breathtaking!
The dogs so affectionate...
and the puppies were adorable.
(If you are interested in seeing more pictures of the Coastal Helicopters tour, including of the extra landing lower on the glacier you can follow this link to our Ruby Princess RT Seattle and scroll down to Juneau.)
Great pics.

Dog sledding on Herbert Glacier with Coastal Helicopters out of Juneau this past August was, by far, the highlight of our Alaska Cruise. We were blessed with a beautiful, sunny day, which made a big difference, as 70% of their helicopter excursions were cancelled in the month of July due to inclement weather. Because of the cost of the excursion, we were a little unsure about booking it, but afterwards, we felt it was worth every penny.
The helicopter ride to the dog sledding camp was breathtaking, and even when we landed, the scenery was so beautiful, we would have been thrilled to be there without the dogs. The dog sled ride itself was amazing, and we loved getting to know each of the dogs and their personalities during our rest stops. Just when I thought it couldn't get any better, we got a chance to hold the puppies!
If we had not had this experience, we probably would have enjoyed the sled dog carts on wheels that we saw later in Caracross on our Yukon excursion, but being on the glacier was a big part of the thrill
for us.
I agree worth the money; I now have these memories with my grandchildren that will last forever; plus the pics help remember the great time. We too had nice weather for the excursion. Our guide said this excursion is the cancelled more than any other one in Juneau

I suspect that if the problem with speed does not interfere with passenger or ship safety; they will most likely put off fixing the problem until next dry dock. It just came out of dry dock in Mar so it won't be going back in for maybe three years. But it will get fitted for the medallion program.

Thank you for the excellent photo ! You had a great good fortune to visit Tracy Arm on a sunny day, which is very rare. Isn't that a gorgeous place? The captain told us the same thing -- it's difficult to get into Tracy Arm if it's too foggy, too cold, or has too many icebergs. Last week he said that it's doubtful that the ship can get into Tracy Arm for the last 2 sailings of the season. ( They don't want to collide with an iceberg and have a repeat of the Titanic).
Aren't Corey and Theo hilarious together ? Theo grew this long mustache, which he twists and curls at the ends, making him look like the villain in an old-time melodrama. When our Ship's Tour group came onto the bridge, escorted by Theo, the Captain said, "Oh yes, I see that Mr. Moustache is paying us a visit today......." :p On our cruise, the entertainment staff was dressed in lumberjack outfits, with jeans, red-checked flannel shirts, and orange suspenders. The had an axe-throwing contest, where Corey hangs up this target that looks like a dart board, and they throw magnetic axes at it, which either stick on the board, or fall on the floor. I don't know where Corey gets the idea for all these games. Maybe they've been doing that for years, and they pass all these ideas down from C.D. to C.D. :D - EBC
Those two guys were a hoot. TaaaaaaOh' is so funny especially when he hosts trivia contests or was in the liars game. Corey threw the axe on our cruise too

Very in depth review; thank you..

Great review; I was on Emerald in July. Corey and Theo are great. Corey joined the ship in May; so I suspect he will be onboard for six months which means maybe in Oct he will leave. They have a great staff on that ship. I am so glad you figured out how do copy and paste from shutterfly. That is how I upload all my pics an I don't have to worry about losing any resolution or resizing. Here is a pic from my July Tracy Arm trip. We were the first ship to sail into Tracy Arm for the year. Up until our voyage in July the captain said there was too many icebergs in the way; so we were so glad we got to see it.

Thanks for your review. Enjoying the minute by minute details. If you want to post pics on this thread; here is how I do it; and its so easy. Upload all your photos to shutterfly. (shutterfly will never delete any of your pics), Once uploaded you can then right click on your photos and copy. Open up your Alaska thread and right click and paste. It takes about a minute or less to do this. the pic below is from our July cruise; Tracy Arm Fijord.

I just returned from a July sailing to Alaska. The weather is always changing. We had cool temps. I don't think the temp got above 63 during our time in alaska. We had rain one day; so that was good; the rest of the trip was partly sunny but not too warm. We wore jackets in every port. Scenery was beautiful and so were the excursions. We did not do land portion, only cruise; did not have enough time off to do both. You will enjoy it

These pictures were from our dog sled excurion on Mendenhall Glacier-July 2017. Worth every penny and it was expensive

In my opinion the medallion program will be a winner. Sure a few tweaks to make sure it works properly; but there will be some hiccups at the beginning; but am looking forward to using it

I sailed Emerald Princess in July. Menu in main dining room had some fish, some pasta, some steak, and some specialty meal every night. The menu was excellent; as was the food

Great. Will see if my other promotion can top this current promotion.

i haven't sailed on Princess for many years. It was my line of choice for family sailing.
Now that it is just the two of us, and we can "go big", there seems to be little reason to book with Princess. The amenities are few and the price is about what one would pay on a luxury line. My guess is that Princess has made a decision not to fight for this part of the market. I could see if I was traveling with children and grandchildren that it would be nice to have a suite for the family to gather, but that's about it.
Hello, are you asking why should someone book a suite; or saying you don't plan to book a suite if you sail with Princess?

It's a small thing, but I'll miss having the card as a memento. I gave my son all his cruise cards when he moved out of the house.
You will have the medallion as a memento

OP; ClubClass dining is limited to a small section of one dining room. If you don't eat in the other section of that dining room; you won't notice anything.

There are youtube videos showing all the things the medallion will do. It is a concept; and will become reality in November. Processing thousands of passengers on and off ship does not sound like a revenue builder to me. Nor does electronic keys to your cabin. Hotels and Disney have been doing this already. I use my iPhone to open my hotel room; it is no big deal. It's fun. But as some have mentioned above about the medallion is only for Princess to make more money. I just gave you two things it will do and does not make Princess any more money; but it does make a guest happier. Why? Because I only have to walk near my cabin door and it will unlock. I only have to walk by security going onto and off the ship. Nice.

You're quite a bit off if you're referring to Carnival stock. It's trading in the $67 range today. But it did close at $69.13 Friday! :D And 2 years ago it was only in the $48 area when I bought. Wish I'd bought back when you did! ;p
Tom
I think they are referring to Facebook stock

Works for me. If they are that afraid of the Medallion technology then they would be better off sailing another line. Of course Carnival Corp. has said they eventually want to roll the tech out to all of their lines. Not my problem. I'm not afraid of the new tech.
Ditto what you said. Not afraid of technology. Get Ready cause her it comes.

Hey Tina; you come prepared. Nice

You have to laugh at how such a subject such as this; goes on and on; when the program has not started; there are a lot of what if's on this thread. Don't sweat the small stuff
-
Great review; some very good tips on your review. Thank you

Good question. Maybe the way the ship was built; once cabins were placed on ship they had obstructions or partial obstruction. Maybe when it went thru drydock they changed layout.
