  1. We are D+ and always buy the DBP. Our last cruise our granddaughter was with us so we used our vouchers to get her any non alcoholic drink that she wanted. The Deluxe beverage package pretty much covers anything you would want so as someone else mentioned, you can always gift people a drink using your voucher. And of course we always tip whether we're using our package or our vouchers.
  2. Yes they were very responsive with us as well. I hope everything goes as smoothly for you as it did for us, and my sympathy on the loss of your loved one. One of my sisters is also my TA so she took care of all the legwork for us.
  3. No cost. It only took about 15 minutes but I think we could have spent more time had we wanted to or if we had wanted like some sort of prayer service or something. Our daughter lives in Florida so we did not have to fly and they never looked at it at all through security at the port even though she had the paperwork with. She just had the urn in a tote bag type of thing that we carried on. She did fly with the urn this summer to get home to Florida and they did check the urn at security at the airport but it was not an issue at all
  4. I wanted to give our experience with a Burial at Sea on Mariner Dec 19-24. It was for our son in law who passed away unexpectedly in June. It was my husband and I, our daughter and granddaughter and my sister and brother in law. We started back in July with correspondence and to get the approval to proceed. It was an easy process. We had to have death certificate, cremation certificate and proof the urn was biodegradable. We did not have a certificate for the urn but it was stamped on the bottom that it was biodegradable so that was fine. My daughter and I went to Guest Services as soon as we boarded to get it set up. We wanted it on our first sea day in the morning. The gal at GS took our information and asked us to come back at 6:30 to talk to the Hotel Manager, so we did that. We got it all set up, but because we did not have an actual cert saying the urn was biodegradable, the environmental officer needed to go to my daughter's stateroom to look at the urn. It was not an issue, just one more step. She received a call the night we got back on the ship from Coco Cay that it was all set up for 10:30 the next morning, while at sea. We went to GS at 10:15 and 2 security officers, the environmental officer, the hotel manager and 2 GS staff walked us down to Deck 4 promenade to the back of the ship. The Security officers stopped passengers from coming through that way while we were there. They told my daughter what to do, and one of the GS staff videoed it for my daughter at her request. They also brought along a box of tissues for us, we never gave that a thought. It was all done so respectfully and we cannot say enough good things about all staff that helped us. I made sure to mention them in my survey at the end. Each cabin then received the certificate signed by the captain and hotel manager with our son in law's name, DOB, Date of death, and who attended along with the coordinates. We were asked if we wanted it laminated and we said yes, that way it will never tear, etc. It was something we will always remember and hopefully our daughter and granddaughter can start to move forward now. All in all the cruise was great as always even with the emotional aspect of saying goodbye to a loved one. We all love to cruise and our daughter knew this would make him happy to be forever at sea.
  5. I believe you would have to have travel insurance. Not the cruise line fault if flights get cancelled. We don't ever travel anymore without travel insurance anymore. Hopefully they will come through for us this time with the amount of $ we spent to get home yesterday. First time we have had to file a claim because of flight cancellations.
  6. I agree, we pay just as much on American, United or Delta. We choose SW because of the free bags. It cost me 160 for 4 bags on United for a last minute flight yesterday. I had taken a bunch of stuff down to my kids in FL because we were on SW, but had to get our stuff back home.
  7. We left Fort Myers yesterday to fly back to Milwaukee (the 27th). Our SW flight was cancelled as well, but not till we were already at the airport. It was for lack of flight attendants. The pilot and co pilot were on board. We ended up flying a non stop on United back to Chicago O'Hare, renting a car there, and driving back to the Milwaukee airport so we could pick up our vehicle. That flight sold out in a hurry so was glad we were able to get on it. It was pretty expensive but we have travel insurance that covers expenses for cancelled flights so I guess we'll see if we get reimbursed. After all of that we were able to get home around 8:30 last night vs 3 pm when we should have been. Next SW flights available were not until Sunday, I had to get back for work.
  8. found another article that said the baby weighed only 2.2 lbs so definitely premature. Congrats to the new mom and hopefully all turns out well. Perez was on the phone with the ship’s doctor all night, guiding the crew on how to turn an adult ventilator into one for a premature baby and how to mix antibiotics and give medicine to the newborn. Finally, the baby was born, weighing 2.2 pounds.
  9. So agree!! When they had MTD on it's own floor of the DR and started at 5 or 5:30 it was WAY better. I wish they would go back to that. I hate having to do a reservation, that totally defeats the purpose of MTD. We like to go around 7:30 or 8 so hopefully the lines won't be so bad by that time.
  10. Mine did the same thing. Pending charge for bev package but order never went through. Hopefully pending chsrge falls off so I do not have to figgt to get amost 1k back.
  11. I am having the same issues but to compound it, after several attempts with my cc and it would not take it, I now have a pending charge for the price of the bev package I was never able to purchase! No order went through at all. So I want to wait to see if that pending charge falls off or if I will have to fight to get refunded because I have no order. I also had my sister, who is my TA check to see if it showed in the service history on her site. Nothing. So hopefully it just falls off on it's own but we'll see. I was however, able to book a bev package for a different cruise very early this morning at 51.99 pp so was happy about that price. 10 minutes after I booked it was up to 59.99.
  12. I got the drink package on Voyager for 51.99 pp for March 26th cruise. When I added it to my cart the first time it was 59.99 so I redid it and then got it for the cheaper price. Really happy about that as it has been a while since I was able to get a bev package for less than 60 pp. Mariner in December is still 78 pp for a 5 night cruise so no sale there. Also seeing the internet package on Mariner for 13.99 pp for Surf and Stream.
  13. I got our Deluxe Bev Package for Voyager this morning for 51.99 pp which is about the lowest I have seen any package for a long time. Sailing 3/26. I was very happy with that price. My cruise in December is still sky high for the package--no sale on that one, same as always.
  14. Not sure I would like these new menus. I am pretty much a meat and potatoes type of person--extremely picky eater--and yes, I have tried many things and do not like them) and have Celiac as well. I do not like seafood, or any type of spicier foods, so not a lot of choices on this menu--I am a very boring eater. I do not mind some pasta dishes as long as it is gluten free, I have not ever had issues with that on any ship. We always eat in the MDR--never specialty, but I usually order whatever meat special they have that night with no sauces and a baked potato. And typically for an appetizer I get the Caesar or occasionally soup if it is something I like. My DH loves the escargot and onion soup so will be very disappointed if he cannot get those nightly as well. Hopefully this trial will not carry through fleetwide any time soon.
  15. We also love San Juan. We stayed at Casablanca for 3 nights before our cruise in March 22 and will be staying there again for 2 nights pre cruise in March of 23. We loved it there. They have a rooftop terrace that overlooks San Cristobel--so pretty up there. Looking forward to your review as we are doing Voyager out of San Juan in March. By far our favorite port to cruise from.
  16. There is no set price. It varies from cruise to cruise. When you put the Internet in your cart it will then give you the option of purchasing for more than one device. It typically is cheaper to do one person with 2 devices (or more up to 4) rather than doing single packages
  17. Yes they can both be logged in with the same account/login on 2 different devices. If more than 2 devices one device would get "booted". We always do it this way as you said, because it is less expensive.
  18. Thank you so much for this. My husband, daughter, granddaughter and I are doing a burial at sea in December for our son-in-law who passed unexpectedly in June. We have taken care of all the pre-cruise steps and have the approval email, so we just have to go to guest services when we get on board and set everything up. We do plan to bring a 1/2 a dozen live roses with us that we can also send overboard with the urn. I am sure it will be super emotional as you said. Our condolences to you as well on the loss of your loved one. It is never easy.
  19. I have been on many many cruises since I was diagnosed with celiac and I have always been very happy with the service and special handling of my food issues across the fleet. They have always been so accommodating. And in the windjammer I just typically stay with things that are either marked gluten free or things that I know are naturally gluten free. I certainly have never gone hungry lol
  20. My daughter flew from WI to FL on Southwest with the urn. She had all the paperwork but was not asked for it. Always better to have it and not need it than the alternative. TSA Security was also very respectful when doing what they needed to do.
  21. Thank you. She is way too young to be a widow for sure. It will be an emotional cruise for us, her and our 13 yr old granddaughter.
  22. We are doing this in December with our daughter to spread her husband's ashes at sea. We reached out to the burial at sea for Royal and got an email back saying it was approved. We need to check in with guest services the day we get on the ship and they will make arrangements with the captain for us to do that. She has to bring a copy of his death certificate, the cremation certificate, and proof that the urn is biodegradable. The email address we used is: emergencytravelteam@rccl.com
  23. My mother cruised in January with a pacemaker. She always carries her paperwork with her, but no one ever asked for it. She did not need any type of note from her doctor. Not sure about the scanner as she checked in with other family members and I wasn't there at that point
