  1. Hello, We will be on the NCL Prima in July and according to NCL we will need to tender to Geiranger. Our ship is suppose to arrive in Geiranger @ 8AM. We are looking to book a non NCL tour @ 9:30AM in Geiranger. Would we be able to make the 9:30AM tour in Geiranger if we have to take a tender? I know the NCL scheduled tours will tender first. Thoughts?
  2. thank you. Yep, our cruise departs from the Horizon Cruise terminal
  3. We will be sailing on the NCL Prima this summer. I think the ship departs from the Horizon Cruise Terminal. Can anyone confirm? What hotel would be closest to this cruise terminal? Holiday Inn? Leonardo Royal Hotel Southampton Grand Harbour? What is the best way to get to the cruise terminal from the hotel?

  5. Is there a way to prebook a taxi from the Skarfabakki port? We will be disembarking there and will need a taxi to take us to a hotel in the city center.
  6. @Scottishclover thank you. We were thinking of booking a 3PM RIB boat tour but we will have to tender so I’m not sure how long that will take to get to and from the ship. Our ship arrives at 8am and now I’m wondering if doing the 9:30AM tour is doable with having to tender. The Disney Magic is a wonderful ship. We sailed on her in Europe years ago.
  7. We will be disembarking our cruise in Reykjavik in July. We have booked the NCL transfer from the port to the airport but our flight isn’t until 8PM. Sitting at the airport for 10 or 11 hours is not something we want to do especially with an 11 year old so I’m trying to come up with something that to kill some time before our flight but we will have all of our luggage. We would like to check out the city center of Reykjavik. I know there are the luggage lockers but I’m concerned that they will either be full or not big enough for our large suitcases. What can we do with our suitcases while we explore the city center? Would a hotel hold our luggage for a fee or us is there a tour company that will pick us up at the port, take us on a tour with our suitcases in the car or bus with us and drop us off at the airport? Thanks 😊
  8. @Scottishclover thank you so much for your response! I think our 11 year old son will really enjoy this excursion. I figured it wasn’t going to be an hour of tearing it up out on the fjord which is ok by me. I really want to get up close and personal with the fjord. Do you happen to remember roughly what time you booked the RIB tour? We are going to head back to the ship to have lunch and then head back out on the tender to go on the RIB tour. We will be doing a tour @ 9:30AM and will be done @ 12:30.
  9. @John Bull Thank you so much for your response! Your information is very helpful. I do have some more questions below if you don't mind... We will be flying from Boston to London so I would be willing to guess that NCL will book us on a nonstop flight to London Heathrow. I am hoping they will schedule us on a flight that will arrive early like my parents who arrive at 7AM. Do you know roughly how long it generally takes in the morning to go through passport control/customs at Heathrow? I'm assuming we would meet the NCL rep after passport control with our luggage. What happens after we meet the NCL rep...do they take us straight to the NCL transfer bus? How long does it take to get from Heathrow to the Southampton cruise terminal? When we get off the NCL bus in Southampton do we take our luggage and drop it with a porter at the pier? In America it is customary to tip the driver and porter. Is it the same in the UK? If so what would you recommend? I appreciate your advice. After reading your reply I think we will stick with our original plan of flying in the day of the cruise and hoping all goes as planned and there are no issues with delays or cancellations. thank you
  10. @John Bull you seem to be very knowledgable regarding transfers from Heathrow and Southampton so I am hoping you can help me. We are booked on an NCL cruise out of Southampton in July. We booked and paid for NCL air and transfers. We are currently waiting on our NCL air information so I am not sure when or where we will fly into but my parents who are doing the same cruise a few weeks before us are flying into Heathrow with a 7AM arrival the day of the cruise. My guess is if we don't add the 1 day deviation NCL will put us on the same flight arriving the day of the cruise. My concern is will we make the cruise if we come in the same day and take the NCL transfer or would we be better of getting the 1 day deviation and staying at a hotel at Heathrow and booking our own transfer to the cruise terminal in Southampton? Do you have any Heathrow hotel recommendations? Do you have any car service recommendations? The last thing we want to do is miss the cruise because of an issue with the NCL transfer. Thank you
  11. @fishman620 The RIB boat in Geiranger according to the website is NOK 595 per adult. That is about $57. Children are cheaper, NOK 395 which is about $38.
  12. @dfish just curious...do you remember what time you booked your RIB tour? I know you said you did it after your other booked tour. Thanks
  13. @queen_kathy1 we were suppose to do the Norwegian fjords on HAL last summer but cancelled due to covid. We had the same worry that our son would be bored sailing HAL. Thanks for the link. That is the company I have been eyeing for the tours in Geiranger. We figure we can do both tours in one day as they aren’t all day tours and it gives us a chance to see the fjord up high and up close in the water.
  14. @queen_kathy1 HAHA!! Which cruise are you on? We are on the NCL Prima. We are going to do a tour in the AM and then we will do the RIB boat tour later in the afternoon since we are in Geiranger until 10PM. Maybe you can do both the Panorama Bus tour and the RIB boat in Geiranger? Did you book the bus tour via the cruise line or independently?
  15. Thank you for answering all of my questions! I’m definitely going to book it as it sounds thrilling and a once in a lifetime experience!! I’m sure my husband and 11 year old son would LOVE it! Did you prebook the tour online?
  16. Thank you for your suggestion. I came across this company in my search. I do have a few questions…How far from the cruise terminal was this company? Did you book in the morning or afternoon? I was thinking of doing this in the afternoon after doing another tour. Was the boat really fast? Did you get soaked? Thanks
  17. Unfortunately our cruise line…NCL does not have any tours the final day with drop off at the airport. We booked our air with NCL and in doing so we had to pay for the airport transfers so we do have transportation from the port to the airport so we can take the ship transfer to the airport and hopefully drop our bags off at the airline but then we have to head back to Reykjavik which I’ve read is a 40 min drive.
  18. Hello!! We are a family of three (2 adults and a child). Our cruise in July ends in Reykjavik. Our flight from Keflavik Airport departs much later in the day actually late into the evening so we will have many hours to waste before our flight. I am looking for a tour company that will pick us up at the cruise terminal in Reykjavik with all of our luggage and take us on a tour then drop us off at the airport. We are doing the Golden Circle the day before. Any suggestions on tour companies that could do this? Thanks 😊
  19. Hello! We will be in Geiranger, Norway in July (2 adults and an 11 year old). We are very much interested in doing a RIB boat tour. Has anyone done a RIB boat tour in Geiranger and if so can you please recommend a company? There are a few online but I always like to hear suggestions from actual people who used the company and can provide a good review and suggestion. Thanks.
  20. Hello! We are using Arcticshorex in Isafjorfur and looking to possibly book them for Akureyri and Reykjavik. Since it’s been amongst a year since you sailed what did you think of the tours with Arcticshorex?
  21. Hello All, We will be in Akureyri, Iceland in July and we are looking for a tour company that will take us on a small group tour to Godafoss. Does anyone have any recommendations? Thanks 🙂
  22. Awesome! Thank you so much for the list of tour companies. I have a tour booked in Isafjordur with Arctic Shorex and I am looking at booking them in Akureyri and Reykjavik but wanted to see if others had any other recommendations. Have a great trip!
  23. Thank you for letting me know about Your Day Tours in Iceland. I checked their website but unfortunately the Golden Circle Tour for the date we will be in Reykjavik in later July is sold out. Have a great time!
  24. Hello! Our family of three (2 adults and an 11 year old) will be in Reykjavik on the NCL Prima in July. The ship arrives in port @ 8am and will be in port overnight. We are looking to book a small group Golden Circle tour but we are unsure of which company to use. Any recommendations for a reputable tour company that does a Golden Circle tour in Reykjavik? Thank you 🙂
