  1. Always providing you give reasonable notice, of course.
  2. Thankyou. I agree the Q4s make very bad use of the huge amount of available space, but I have never felt the cabin cramped, nor bumped into anything except the bed. I think many passengers find the fixed table a great benefit, as you get to know your neighbours and your waiters. The ship didn’t seem understaffed in May, but it may do so soon, as they transfer staff to QA.
  3. But when they fill the QG gaps with bidders from, say, PG, there will be room there, I imagine.
  4. I’m sure we have the same or similar dictionaries, merely different perceptions and memories.
  5. No, I was referring to the very un-Victorian panels on QM2. I don’t think her ambience is fussy at all. She is too big to be fussy, indeed if anything she is stark. Again, the size is one of the things I like about the smaller Vistas, that nowhere is too far away.
  6. What with all those zany brass panels? I dislike the Grills Lounge on QM2, but wouldn’t describe it as Victorian in any way. I must say the ship I like best is QE with her rather lighter and more art deco decor. When will she come back to Southampton?
  7. I love both ships, but I think much of QV’s decor is much more darkly Victorian (appropriately) than that on QM2.
  8. If I were a passenger, I should be wishing I were safely docked in Stavanger - or anywhere really.
  9. I thought QV was going to Stavanger today, but she seems to be passing and going straight to Skoldjen. Is this weather related?
  10. They didn’t really comment on the children’s facilities. But the reports from those who do are almost universally positive, and the children one sees around the ship seem to be both beautifully behaved and having a great time. I still remember with great amusement an encounter outside the Commodore Club with about fifteen seven year old pirates with cutlasses.
  11. They mention firearms and any type of projectile type weapon, so they are probably covered.
  12. I’m glad it has reappeared, and it is nice to see overwhelmingly positive comments. Mind you, it would be awful to book a Q2 and then be disappointed.
  13. What’s this hen, then? Scottish vernacular? 🙂🙂 It does seem bizarre to book a cruise line where you know you will be limited to the buffet because you don’t want to dress even to the fairly ordinary standards of non-formal nights in the MDR. I should have thought there were better choices.
  14. Sorry I meant whatever booze you like. Probably missile launchers are discouraged.
  15. You can bring on whatever you like at any port.
  16. Possibly that is why I identified it. I did remember QV was there last week. I think when we were there, the weather was more cheerful. Not only was our visit QE’s maiden call, but the jetty was fairly recently installed and she was the largest ship to have used it up to that point. We had been expecting to have to tender.
  17. We have Riviera on QV next week. I have high hopes.
  18. I once did that by mistake too. Embarrassingly, it was my own review.
  19. Is there a safety drill? Has that been reinstated?

    QM2

I see there is a diving support boat beside her in Valencia today.
  21. That sounds strange. Mine have always appeared within a week. Can you resubmit?
  22. Thanks, HH. I wasn’t really thinking about lack of authenticity, more about confusion, and what that says about the reliability of the review. It is easy enough to get a date wrong, or perhaps there was an itinerary change, though I thought they were earlier in the year.
