  1. I would find being described as a novelty seeker a little disparaging. I would feel it suggested I were shallow and trivial.
  2. As far as I can see, the really major advantage of table cloths is they absorb a lot of noise, which bare wood does not. In a noisy restaurant this can make a huge difference, but may not matter in a smallish space with well behaved Cunard passengers. On the other hand, when I managed to knock over a nearly full bottle of Malbec in QG last summer, I imagine the staff would have been happier without table cloths to sort out.
  3. Of course you are entitled to your opinion, with which I may be inclined to agree, on balance. It is something I certainly wouldn’t bother to do twice. However, it seems a little unkind to sound so disparaging of those who have enjoyed it or wish to.
  4. Some indications of the menus of the new restaurants would be great. And just a few actual pictures of real places. Some bits must be ready, surely. As for insight speakers, they may not know yet. But anticipation is definitely building.
  5. But something a lot of people harmlessly enjoy.
  6. Well, I hope Cunard will begin to drip feed us some more information, and, above all, pictures.
  7. I’ve read several accounts on here of people who were on the waiting list, but heard nothing, until they rang up, having looked at the website, and bingo, there was a cabin.
  8. Yes, so have I, though, as time has gone on, I’ve become less inclined to believe it. In any case, they must have some empty cabins to cope with the victims of plumbing catastrophes and the like.
  9. I certainly wouldn’t consider myself a seasoned Cunarder, and certainly have never been aware of any priority treatment from the Sales Office, but who knows? One thing that helps is to go and see them early in the cruise before the abbreviated brochures appear in cabins.
  10. If they are going show favouritism to anyone, wouldn’t it be sensible to show it to those on their first or second voyage, rather than those who have done many voyages and are likely to book anyway, even if they have to wait a little. I wonder if I shall ever be regarded as a Seasoned Cunard sailor? Not yet anyway.
  11. It’s a long way from Cambridge for a few days. Perhaps you could add QM2 at least one way, and a wondrous transcontinental rail trip.
  12. Cerainly I thought Top Hat benefited from being cut. Nobody goes and sees it for its plot, which is fatuous, but the music, lyrics, dancing, sets, atmosphere, all of which were intact. I think many of us would rather stick with dining as it is and a shortened version. I certainly don’t think I’m the only one for whom dining is the main event of the night and the show merely enjoyable (sometimes) add ons.
  13. I agree, but if you want something particular that they don’t have, I can see you might want to do it. And nobody is going to stop you, which is comforting.
  14. I really don’t think they mind what you bring on, so long as you don’t drop it and make a sticky mess on their nice carpet. Security checks you haven’t got a bomb, etc, they aren’t the beverages police. Nobody on the ship takes the least interest.
  15. Don’t you think also that drinking less booze than on board makes an easy difference? I suspect you don’t take your mobile bar to work.
  16. The April 2024 to Jan 2026 paper brochure doesn’t. It just says wine. Anyway, they don’t seem to mind how much you bring on.
  17. Outside your room, you’ll have to pay corkage.
  18. I had something that implied Aji Wa and Sir Sam’s were extra, but not the others. Sorry, can’t find it.
  19. I thought the ‘sort of’ was in the title of the show. 😀 I do wish as well as sending us the info, they would send us a few picture of the actual interiors.
  20. Arcadia was originally going to be QV, until they decided she wasn’t quite right, so they moved on to the hull we have now, with its slightly extended bow. I think I have remembered right.
  21. In that case, who it the right person to complain to?
  22. Usually, whichever pop up is happening is cheaper on the first night of the cruise.
  23. S/He is in PG. There is no early or late.
  24. Yes, I think that is. Strange how that name has taken off. I always call it baked bananas.
