  1. Up to a point. It affects other passengers if the bribes work, which they probably don’t.
  2. When I was confined to my cabin for six days with Covid, I suppose the butler and steward did benefit from not having to clean it. However, they had to serve my meals there for six days, and do a major clean when I was released. So I thought that warranted something extra.
  3. It wouldn’t stop some people giving extra, sometimes in advance.
  4. I suppose it partly depends on the quality of the air conditioning.
  5. I’m sure you couldn’t help noticing. Or you might have been looking for a friend. I see that last sentence is ambiguous but it will do, either way.
  6. QV didn’t initially, as you couldn’t get round the front. It was established after QE came into service with her walkround deck, which passengers liked. There may be a lesson there…
  7. Ajaccio was a pleasant place to wander round.
  8. And they have to spend some of their day schmoozing the passengers, most of whom are probably charming, but some very annoying.
  9. I am on the cruise too, but how could one possibly know? There is no evidence there will be less formality, unless you count there only being three formal nights in a fortnight, but I think that is now standard. As far as I know, they have not yet even said which areas of the ship the formal dress code will apply to. Will some of the new restaurants be exempt? Who knows?
  10. Or as Jeremy Bentham would say, utilitarianism. 😀
  11. Yes, obviously a judgement must be made, so a lone person, possibly a pirate, (who I believe aren’t much interested in cruise ships, anyway) is clearly not a threat in the way a boat load might be. But the judgement is not always easy. I have read of RN sailors scarred for life by the fact their ships, for the good but mistaken reason they thought enemy ships were approaching, left many sailors to drown after the Bismarck had been sunk.
  12. And I believe the duty to rescue is an absolute duty to rescue and would in fact extend to a shipwrecked pirate, unpopular as this might be.
  13. Sorry I meant the opposite: CANNOT mix drinks.
  14. They put an Easter bunny on top of their inverted pineapples?
  15. They seem to have had a bit of green colouring left over from yesterday.
  16. I see your point about a bright colour, but it does rather look as if someone has spilt a lot of green paint.
  17. I have a paper version from a travel agent mentioning an eclipse cruise, also for QV and QM2.
  18. See my post above. But remember core customers die and their replacements may have somewhat different views.
  19. I should sincerely hope she was designed to maximise profits. Surely that is what businesses are supposed to do? Of course, if the design is so horrible that no passengers travel, then there will be no profits.
  20. I do find this quite strange. Having enjoyed a few meals in Le Gavroche over the years, I should not have thought pub food was MR’s forte.
