White/blank space forward on deck 7 on Vista
basor replied to Vineyard View's topic in Oceania Cruises
The crew in these quarters are management and officers so I don't think you will have to worry about them making too much noise .... -
Vista - Thin Walls Reported on Celebrity Forum
basor replied to QuestionEverything's topic in Oceania Cruises
Also, it is if the cabins on either side are occupied or not and if the occupants turn on their TV and/or talk loud....a cabin can be reported as a problem one cruise and not the next dependent upon your neighbors. We never watch the TV expect for the menus/account information, etc. and do not have the sound turned on at all so our neighbors will think they are in a cabin with no noise problem...(we also keep our voices down - use our inside voices!) -
Are balcony walls over bed/couch metal?
basor replied to Travel Lady in CT's topic in Oceania Cruises
I can't tell you as we use the area around the mirror to keep papers using metal clips so important papers don't get lost. Also, use area by door for our hats, etc. Never tried or needed to hang anything on the wall behind the bed. Perhaps someone currently onboard Vista can answer your question. What type of cabin are you looking at for the cruise? We felt our A1 cabin ( same layout as all verandah cabins) would easily handle us for an ATW cruise...lots of drawer and counter top storage area in the bathroom too.. -
Are balcony walls over bed/couch metal?
basor replied to Travel Lady in CT's topic in Oceania Cruises
We were in a concierge verandah and had no problem with magnetic clips on walls....used them on wall around mirror over desk to hold all kinds of papers. Also had them on the wall by the door to hold hats, etc. Perhaps different layouts so more metal walls.... -
We never had a red faux clock, we always had a brown wood clock but only been sailing with them since 2007. We received the same brown wood clock on Vista and we tapped the top of the clock to turn on the illumination. We now know that we need to ask for a clock when we arrive, if we want one...not a big deal.

Correction - there are no clocks in the staterooms upon embarkation but you can ask your room steward/butler and they are happy to provide you one. The same for sewing kits, etc.

Watching Deals and Sales On Oceania Cruises for Sport
basor replied to Sthrngary's topic in Oceania Cruises
We just finished a B2B on Vista and doing a B2BB on Riviera next Fall.....in both scenarios, I look at the total cost of cruise booked as 1 cruise and as separate cruises (with separate booking numbers). I start with total cost of cruise, amenities, loyalty credits and most importantly OBC from loyalty, AMEX, shareholder credit and TA. In both instance the overall cost minus the OBC made it less expensive to book as separate cruise with the loyalty credits a plus. You need to do the math....also, if one part of the B2B goes on sale, it is easier to reprice than as 1 voyage. -
“Simply more” beverage pkg doesn’t show under my account management
basor replied to durberville's topic in Oceania Cruises
That is because there are still people sailing under "cruise only" and "OLife" - your invoice shows you have the SM beverage package and at this time you can not upgrade to Prestige package but you can by you or TA calling Oceania directly -
Oceania does not refund port taxes for skipped ports
basor replied to Sdancer's topic in Oceania Cruises
Oceania has never refunded port taxes because port taxes are not listed as a separate line item on your invoice unlike Princess, etc. You are very lucky if you have taken 10 Oceania cruises and not missed a port due to weather, etc.! If you believe that Oceania deliberately skipped Cozumel to put $$$ in their pockets than you will definitely be better off on a different cruise line. Oceania is not the only cruise line that does not line item port taxes and thus does not refund. -
We used magnet clips on the wall around the mirror over the desk, on the entry walls (both sides) so plenty of space for magnets on a long cruise

It will be interesting to see exactly what change are made to Marina during her refit....lots of rumors and broad statements leaving much wiggle room. We will wait until the refit is done and she is back sailing to hear reports from those onboard to the changes. Of course, that does preclude being able to ring hands and complain about a supposed change....

Vista - Thin Walls Reported on Celebrity Forum
basor replied to QuestionEverything's topic in Oceania Cruises
We were in a concierge verandah on Deck 12 for a B2B for 32 days and never heard anything from neighbors on either segment. It appears the noise issue is not ship wide but specific cabins... -
It was reported in one cabin on one cruise so not pervasive across the whole ship. In fact there is a thread from people currently on Marina which appears to indicate that the ship is in fine shape. You might want to check out Mumblings from Marina

Is there a primer for first time Oceania guests?
basor replied to kstrittm's topic in Oceania Cruises
Not in bars but yes with room service during dining venue hours - ie. - you order lunch or dinner via room service along with a glass of wine....we have found that as long as we order some sort of food item along with the wine/beer during the hours GD, Waves and Terrace are open we have not been charged for the wine/beer -
For those who have booked Simply More excursions
basor replied to Tsunami74's topic in Oceania Cruises
yes - it is easy to check as they can just go go their final cruise summary email and there will be a pdf of the shore excursions they confirmed and paid for...if all of them are there, go and print off and take to Destination Services. Sometimes, what people say and what actually occurred are bit different due to misunderstanding of procedure.... -
For those who have booked Simply More excursions
basor replied to Tsunami74's topic in Oceania Cruises
We just finished booking our excursions for a Riviera B2B2B OCT/NOV 24 and all excursions were available except for first day in Istanbul and a chef led tour in Marseilles. The comprehensive all day Istanbul was full. We already have booked a private 2 day tour so did not matter, There were 15 other excursions available in Istanbul so plenty of choices. As with all other important paperwork, we always take a copy of our pre-booked and paid for excursions with us. I have found some people are unaware that just putting an excursion in your "cart" does not actually complete the process. You actually have to "check out" to book the excursion. -
I believe it was not an Oceania cruise but a NCL Star cruise .....
