  1. Dear mcsb11,

We truly apologize for the error and are processing a refund of $95.21 back to you. We appreciate you calling this our attention.

Also, to clarify, you are correct in that glasses of wine priced under $10 from the wine dispensing machines on Norwegian Breakaway and Norwegian Getaway are included in our Ultimate Beverage Package.

Thank you for sailing with us. We look forward to welcoming you back aboard soon.

.....mostly on Carnival, don't think I ever saw customer service like this.

    Kudos NCL!

  2. I overcame my fear of booking an NCL cruise (after a horrible ordeal with NCL Customer Service)...but after reading this and other postings of issues guests have had with CS and they experienced similar treatment as I had...I'm afraid again.

I have a while to decide before we leave on our cruise...I will be reading to see other guests experience with NCL CS.

Please don't be vicious and insensitive with your replies. This is not meant maliciously, but as a consumer that loves to vacation with her family and likes to feel good about it before, during, and after.

I understand this is an issue created by both sides. But please, why on earth would anyone book or not book a cruise because of NCL's Customer Service? Maybe I've just been real lucky, but I have never experienced bad customer service on any cruise line.

And if I wanted to do a particular sailing, I would not let reports of the company's bad customer service deter me from that.

  3. I know that the Havens have their own pool area. I also heard that there is an area for adults only to relax. You have to pay for it and there is limited spaces. We are on the Breakaway. Does anyone know about this? How do you go about reserving spaces. Hope someone can help. Thanks:)

  4. Bill -

As to your first question, Breakaway always docks head first into the NY pier.

I can't speak much to the NY side, but on the NJ side, Liberty State Park would be a great vantage point, as well as Pier A in Hoboken. Liberty State Park opens at 6am. I think Pier A is open 24/7.

Liberty State Park - take the NJ Turnpike extension to exit 14B and follow signs to the park.

Hoboken Pier A - Take US 495 East to the Hoboken exit. Make a right onto Park Ave and follow that into Hoboken. Pier A is on Sinatra Drive at 1st Street.

    John

Thanks for the info John I look forward to hanging with you on the ship. It's only another 26 days, 4 hours and 5 minutes till we sail.

Don't know if I can wait that long.

  5. .....this will be my second time on the Breakaway.

    1. Does anyone know if the Breakaway ever changes sides when they port at home? I've read the thread on which side the ship docks in Bermuda but I have never read anything about New York/

    2. I would like to take some pictures of the ship when it is coming up the Hudson on Sunday morning. Can anyone recommend any places to take a picture whether it be in New York or New Jersey?

    And directions would be helpful.

    TIA

  6. We returned from the Breakaway on August 10th. A fabulous cruise!

One of our favorite discoveries since we missed the Martini tasting by 5 minutes was finding a martini sampler or flight on the Shakers Menu, which we enjoyed outside on the waterfront twice during our cruise. It was a steal at $15 for 6 Mini Martinis.

I'm looking for a copy of the Shaker menu and the Sampler listing or even a description if anyone may have in their photos! Specifically looking for the contents of the Martini rimmed in Coconut.

I highly recommend this..a great sailaway celebration if you want to avoid the crowds esp since one of the Martinis is made with blue curacao which looks just like the beautiful blue waters of Bermuda!

    Thanks in advance

    .....I love a good Martini! (or 6)

  7. Is H2o the best kept secret on the ship? No mobs.. better yet.. no kids.. and tons of lounge chairs available. I never found the need to be right on top of the pool on any ship... I'm not swimming so I don't need to be there. We always find an alternate deck to lie in the sun, and H2o fit the bill perfectly. The fountain is great to cool off in when it gets too hot. They have music piped in, as well as a beautiful travel video playing on the big screen. There's a bar.. two hottubs and two drink waiters who constantly circle (and enforce the no kids rule) - we would go up after breakfast and never had a problem finding chairs together.. and there were 8 of us. We had aft cabins, so it was super convenient for our location as well. Grill is on same level.. buffet right beneath. We sailed on 7/20 and it was a definitely a full ship. Pssst.. pass the word... H2o ;)

.....maybe I won't get the Vibe pass and try this area instead.

  8. So several years now I have bought these awesome triple ginger cookies from the cashier's counter in the Craft market (next to the Frog & Onion). They are in little zip lock bags near the register.

Does anyone recall seeing these? If you could take a photo of the label and let me know the name and phone # I would really appreciate it. Last week there were none and I was really mad at myself that I hadn't noted the name and # from last year and called ahead to have some ready for me!

Thanks in advance for your help!!

.....if no one does it by the time I cruise in September, I will get a picture for you.

  9. .....it was a 6 day cruise with an overnight in Bermuda and a port day in Rhode Island.

We got to Bermuda about 1pm on Saturday. Spent the day walking around Hamilton and around 6pm alot of things were shutting down. Went back to the ship, spent the night on board and went back to Hamilton the next day, Sunday, only to find everything closed. We did manage to find a bar that was open broadcasting soccer and spent a while in there, then left Bermuda that afternoon.

Now that's a pretty much waste of a trip to Bermuda.

  10. My husband and I just got off the Breakaway. We had a great time. There was so much to do, the food was good, the service was awesome, everyone was very nice and friendly.

I do think, however, the reason we had such a great time was because we had Vibe passes. This ship was SSSOOOOO crowded during the anywhere outside. I'm a NYC native born and raised and crowds don't bother me. But we were literally shimmying and crawling over people. There were no lounge chairs to be found at all. We were up early too, so I don't know what time you would need to even get up to get a spot. Even if you did, you were elbow to elbow with other people. This is, I'm sure, because it is during summer vacation for kids. I would def do this trip again, but NOT during any school break. In fact, I'm a teacher and would rather take a non-paid week off to sail during an off time.

That being said, luckily I never had to deal with any of that because VIBE saved my life. Plenty of room, fun people, no crowds, relaxing. Aaaaaah.

The entertainment was great. The woman Rosie who did the tributes for Fire and Ice was the best entertainment on that ship. She is so talented and hyper and entertaining. We saw every one of her shows. Her Michael Jackson tribute was amazing.

Burn the floor was great as well. I'm a dance teacher and was super star struck by them. Perfect.

Second City was funnier than I thought, considering I'm not a fan of improv.

The newlywed show and Dancing with the Breakaway stars was HILARIOUS. I had tears in my eyes.

This was a great trip if you have teenagers. You could dump them off where ever and they made friends quickly. Be careful though, a LOT of them were wasted all over the ship.

The food was good! We ate in most of the restaurants besides the le bistro or the sushi place. We also skipped Ocean Blue. The steakhouse was the best. Room service pizza is gross.

Bermuda- fun! beautiful beach! People on this website were saying how efficient the buses were and all that, but I wasn't too impressed honestly. Take a cab. It's money well spent. Horseshoe bay was NOT pink the day we went, but it was still lots of fun and the water was beautiful!

Oh, also- we did the UDP and it was money well spent! IT all adds up after a while!

.....we had a Vibe pass and spa pass. Most relaxing cruise I had in years due to the fact that if the Queen was real happy, then there's a good chance I might get a little enjoyment on this cruise.

In 26 days I get to do it again except I'm trading Vibe for the Haven. Although maybe out of pure greed I'll get Vibe passes too. How happy do you think the Queen would be then?

    ;)

  11. I just saw as of 12/31/14 they will no longer be serving the mushroom soup from Le Bistro. You can count me out if that happens:rolleyes:

.....your going to ruin my whole cruise. I just had everything figured out (click me) and now you tell me this? I know it won't be happening for our cruise but if the Queen finds out, one never knows what might happen.

  12. Very happy for you Wasiii, your DW will feel like a queen for the week! I am sure she will treat you like a king!!

I can only dream of the Haven (at least until we get done paying for DD and DS's college tuition!) Have you stayed there before? What if you get some obnoxious people up there with you? Can you get away from them?

    Have a wonderful cruise!

    Lauri

.....let's see if I have things covered.

    1. Haven Check

    2. Le Bistro Mushroom soup Will be a Check (for a while click me)

    3. Spa Check

    4. Sushi Will be a Check

    5. Sake Check, Check, Check

    6. Treated like King TBD

Only one thing left. I'll report back after the cruise.

  13. We plan to bring our own chairs on the Breakaway with us. Do other people do this? Is it a problem bringing them on the busses and ferries?

I would not do that if I were you. We were on a bus last year that had a couple of people bring chairs on. Needless to say it wasn't pretty.
