We bought the package at $18. It still shows in our purchases as valid. We have not received an email from Royal Caribbean. I am not upset, why should I be. I knew it was i mistake when I booked it. If RC cancels our package, so be it, no skin off my nose. I will not look at RC any differently than I do now.

I would be impressed, however, if RC did offer some kind of gesture to those that purchased at the $18.

A promo code, linked to your account that would offer 40% off the website price of the deluxe package, that you could use at any time between now and the date of your cruise would be above and beyond for me. Not seriously looking for much, though, and I'm okay with that.

Me too.  Although I did think it might be legit as my receipt said special promo (or similar).  My charge still shows pending.

Has anyone gotten an official email yet?

I am not going to believe a tweet or FB. These are the same tweets and posts that said we will honor the price oh wait no we won't honor it. Until it is removed from my cruise planner or I get an official email I am going to carry on as if I am good to go with the package I bought last night

Nothing yet.  And credit card still shows pending charge.

  3. I too was on that cruise. I wasn’t off the ship until close to 1pm and I wasn’t the last. I thought one of the biggest problems was calling people/floors to disembark only to wait in a line on the ship for an hour. That had nothing to do with customs (that was all on NCL). Why they didn’t have people disembark in smaller groups (like the end of a cruise)? There had to be a better way.

I did stop and talk to the supervisor for US customs. They did admit there was a delay in getting the manifest so there were some things that customs had to do manually versus transmitted electronically. I voiced my concern as it messed up a lot of people’s plans (including mine), but also took a lot of money from the city’s economy.

And I agree, once you got off the ship, things moved pretty quickly.

  4. There's a 24 hour Starbucks one mile walk from the Southwest Terminal (North of the airport). Buy a drink, settle in with earbuds and a book and they won't mind.

I live in so cal. Not sure I’d walk with my valuables at midnight from the airport into westchester.

There are hotels south of LAX in El Segundo, Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, etc.

Another thought, do any terminals have those places you can rent for a quick nap? The 24 hour lounge, recommended earlier, is a good idea too.

  5. IMHO, I would not buy a Rolex or any high end watch on a cruise ship. I’ve seen too many stories of things going wrong and not being able to find someone to help with repairs.

Then again, buy it if you like it but don’t buy it as an investment piece (like the art on board).

  6. I review a map of my arrival airport and look for bank ATMs. I take a smaller amount from there and then find one later in the city, as needed. Your best rate is bank ATM but you need to weigh the fee charged by your bank (many banks have fees).

  7. I very much enjoy a refreshing cold Coca-Cola. I miss not having it while on an NCL ship, that is why I care about it. I feel sorry for you if you will never understand why people care for things they enjoy, I can only assume you don't enjoy anything enough to care about it.:(

And for me, it’s Coke Zero. [emoji1] It’s a bummer that NCL doesn’t allow any beverages to be brought on board. I buy my soda on shore and drink flavored water (bring my own flavoring) or water with lemon on the ship. Never been a Pepsi drinker...

  8. I book with them. I recently booked a cruise on X for fall 2019. They happened to have a group rate on his particular sailing. Which is saving a lot over what X is currently offering. And I get a beverage package and their cash card.

BTW, the cash card generally arrives much faster than they say (days not weeks).

  9. I stayed one night at Hotel De Ville. It is next to the train station, which was convenient considering I took the train from the airport. I had a large corner room with an ocean view. The breakfast was good. No safe in the room, and the bed was uncomfortable. That didn’t bother me since I was jet lagged and was only there for one night.

  10. We used them a few years ago for Rome. We bought the round trip transportation to Rome and back. It was fine. There were only a few of us who paid for that. On our way to Rome, thru offered to refund our money if we were willing to find our own way back to the ship. We declined as none of us were prepared for alternative transportation. I think there were 8 of us on the return bus. I’d still use them again.
