Galapagos: Flora, Xpedition or Xploration - which one
mahdnc replied to Wayfairers's topic in Celebrity Cruises
My wife and I were on Xpedition over Thanksgiving and we had an awesome time. We originally had booked the sailing on Xploration because it was the cheapest. However we opted for Xpedition because I am prone to seasickness and figure the larger ship would be a bit better and our cabin had balcony. The fact that Xpedition is only licensed to carry half the passengers she is actually built to carry is an enormous plus. That meant lots more space for everyone in the public areas. We simply did not want to pay extra for Flora although she is a beautiful ship. The one functional advantage that Flora has is that her zodiacs are designed to be much easier to get into and out of. -

As some of you will remember, when the Hot Glass Show was originally introduced on the first three Solstice class ships, the program was managed by the famous Corning Museum of Glass. Here is an old but interesting Q&A for prospective employees interested in taking an assignment on one of the Celebrity ships: link. It is 4 pages long and has some interesting insights.

LIVE Norwaylady escape the winter on Equinox B2B 23.03-11.04.24

Yes, I am planning on it and I am looking forward to getting back on Summit! This is the last time I saw Summit--in her old livery and she was docked at St. Maarten back in Jan 2015. -

I’ve read your live thread several times over. -
There seems to be a steady erosion in the number of on-demand movies available since 2014-ish is my observation. During our past Dec sailing on Solstice there were very few options. Most of the movies we watched were shown on a movie channel and very little from the on-demand library. Next Saturday we will be boarding Summit for her 14 night Panama Canal sailing which has 8 sea days. I am downloading a few movies onto my iPad because my expectations of onboard options are so low.

You could be back to Elite again—depending on the number of nights you spent with HAL.
-
If you were on HAL at the time, it is very possible that you will lose Club Points.
-
Since the 14th is a Sunday, I would look for it tomorrow.

Thanks for everything! I especially appreciate the aerial view of Summit as you were flying out of MIA. We will be boarding her on Saturday! -

Or not compensated at all. That has been my experience including missing Ko Samui this past Dec during our Solstice sailing. -
It looks fine to me--but then again I am wearing a motion sickness ear patch.
-
I can see that you are at least docked at Key West. Hopefully things get corrected soon.

Any one else having trouble logging in to app and website?
mahdnc replied to mauimary's topic in Celebrity Cruises
That is what happened to me. Needed new password because my old one did not conform to the new standard--no special character. I only figured it out when I gave up and went for the "forgot the password" option and in coming up with the new password did I see the 3 requirements. -

Jim, please correct me if I am wrong, but doesn't your itinerary that you posted below show 4 time changes--during the nights of Thu Apr 11, Sun Apr 14, Wed Apr 17, and Mon Apr 22? -
Solstice - Best Veranda Room Setup for 4 Guests
mahdnc replied to gvgseg's topic in Celebrity Cruises
The best non-suite quad cabins are the Ultra Deluxe Veranda cabin they have significantly more room than a normal quad cabin and are furnished to sleep up to 5 people. There are only 4 of them and they sit at the front corner of the ship on Deck 7 (7101 & 7108) and Deck 8 (8107 & 8108). The two on Deck 8 are are larger than the two on Deck 7 in terms of interior cabin space and balcony space. Here is a link to the layout of the Deck 8 cabins: link We have sailed on Solstice twice with our 2 kids (young adults) in those cabins. -

My two cents: We’ve done Sydney pre-cruise three nights (Dec 2017) and four (Dec 2019). There’s a lot to see. Just depends on where you want to draw the line. We’re doing this TP next year and looking forward to seeing new stuff at Sydney! -

Ruth (and @MamaFej), Yes! The first photo is of the inner corona and you can see the pink solar prominences. This photo shows the middle to outer corona: We watched the eclipse from Vienna, IL which is near the Ohio River off of I-24. We had 3.7 minutes of totality. The April weather made viewing conditions touch and go for many parts of America that were in the path of totality. I hope you are doing well, Ruth. I presume you had very clear skies from your Princess cruise ship, MamaFej. David
