According to your link-at first they stopped ferry traffic now they have stopped cruise ships from entering. I would also imagine that the link I posted from Cruise Critic was validated carefully before they included it in their list of ports banning all cruise ship traffic

This was the exact quote: "United Arab Emirates: It was confirmed on March 8 by Celebrity Cruises that the UAE, which includes the ports of Abu Dhabi and Dubai, has closed its ports to cruise ships." This is the link: https://www.cruisecritic.com/news/5097/

I was wondering the same thing. If we go ahead and fly to Singapore arriving a week before our cruise what happens if they cancel right before or even the day of?

I am still confused- If we cancel within 30 days isn't that a %100 percent penalty in which case we would get it all back in the form of FCC?
  5. Where is the ship and does anyone know its revised itinerary? Thanks for any info!

My travel agent is a member of the virtuoso group. This cruise was supposed to be a “Virtuoso” cruise which means that virtuoso agents are supposed to be aboard as hosts for other virtuoso passengers. I have just emailed my TA today and asked her to find out if those hosts still plan to travel on this cruise. I also suggested that Virtuoso needs to make it very clear to Azamara that they will lose future bookings due to the way they are handling this situation. I am not sure what else we can do at this point. 13 new coronavirus cases reported today in Singapore so the situation seems to be going in the wrong direction despite their best efforts. Disturbing to say the least.

Perhaps what needs to happen is travel agents calling and threatening to steer customers away from any future bookings on AzamaraPerhaps what needs to happen is travel agents calling and threatening to steer customers away from any future bookings on Azamara
  8. Bonnie I appreciate communication from you as many of us feel we have been left hanging here with regard to our cruises. hopefully concrete information is coming sooner rather than later. 🙏🏻

    Oy Vey 😂
  10. Is anyone aware if Silver Sea offered a cancellation or FCC for this cruise? Clearly passengers are not getting the cruise they signed up for. Any posters currently aboard care to weigh in about your experience?

Here is another reason to fear for the safety of Cruise Ship passengers: https://news.yahoo.com/police-clash-french-islanders-fearing-coronavirus-among-tourists-193238500.html

If people cancel voluntarily and take the loss that is better for them. They might wait to cancel until we’ve all gotten ourselves to Singapore. By then many people have canceled and taken the loss and they will not have to refund money to those who voluntarily canceled before Azamara did. I hate to be that cynical but if this is about dollars and cents rather than safety and customer service/ loyalty, then that would be the strategy. 😂

I wonder if they have seen this: Passengers on Cruise Ships U.S. citizens should reconsider travel by cruise ship to or within Asia. U.S. citizens planning travel by cruise ship elsewhere should be aware that, due to the current public health situation, many countries have implemented strict screening procedures in order to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus that causes COVID-19. This is a dynamic situation and U.S. citizens traveling by ship may be impacted by travel restrictions affecting their itineraries or ability to disembark, or may be subject to quarantine procedures implemented by the local authorities. While the U.S. government has successfully evacuated hundreds of our citizens in the previous weeks, repatriation flights should not be relied upon as an option for U.S. citizens under the potential risk of quarantine by local authorities. U.S. citizens should evaluate the risks associated with choosing to remain in an area that may be subject to quarantine and take the appropriate proactive measures. Passengers who plan to travel by cruise ship should contact their cruise line companies directly for further information on the current rules and restrictions, and continue to monitor the Travel.state.gov website and see the latest information from the CDC: https://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel/page/cruise-ship-asia.
  14. This worked only temporarily on my MAC but now seeing double screen again. Do not have the problem when using CHROME, only with Safari
  15. Our flight is United from SFO no cancellations of Singapore flights currently. They have updated waivers to include South Korea.
  16. Excellent article. Thanks for sharing.
  17. Look at the Seabourn board-they cancelled a cruise when everyone had already arrived and were ready to board. A lot of unhappy folks...
  18. This is an excellent article written by a mathematician that discusses the data regarding cases to deaths with this virus. https://www.nytimes.com/2020/02/18/opinion/coronavirus-china-numbers.html

  20. Hello Phil-cannot read the article as I am not a subscriber to the post but found this-https://www.statnews.com/2018/09/26/cdc-us-flu-deaths-winter/ It does lend a different perspective to the panic setting in.
  21. Thank you Bonnie-we are just anxious to know whether or not we will be on a rerouted or cancelled cruise. We have flights to Singapore and return from Dubai with a stopover in Zurich for a few days. We might consider doing a land trip of some sort if we have no cruise. It would just be helpful to know sooner rather than later as we might need to get a visa. My preference is still to do our original cruise however! I am looking forward to meeting what seems like a super group of folks on our roll call. Cheers all. Julie

The Journey is due to arrive Singapore on April 11. This is 8 1/2 weeks away so we can hope they hold off on cancellation and our Singapore-Dubai cruise goes as scheduled.
  23. You are most fortunate to be able to have this experience from the comfort of your cruise ship. Some years ago we were in Rio pre-cruise. We stood on the beach, mostly in the rain with 3 million or so other people to watch a fantastic fireworks display while the Journey(which we boarded a few days later) had a wonderful position off the beach. We heard later that the passengers sipped champagne and had a lovely time. That night the sea appeared relatively calm. https://www.everfest.com/e/rio-reveillon-rio-de-janeiro-brazil Obviously you will miss celebrating with the locals but you will be comfortable and safe on your ship. If you go to youtube and search Rio New Years fireworks you can get a glimpse of the spectacle. Fantastic!
  24. We used Smiths as well. They picked us up at Southampton after our recent Celebrity Cruise and drove us to Heathrow. The driver was super-just be sure you get his # and clarify the exact pick-up spot.
