  1. I guess it only matters if you really want to eat at a particular restaurant (all are no extra charge). I have decided I'm not going to play that game. I'll just turn up and wing it. Same with disembarking. I'll wait until those in a hurry have disembarked. Best way for me to handle a big ship, being a small ship under 100 cruiser.
  2. I can see you enjoying Virgin. I'm early to bed early to rise, so I'll have the ship to myself in the early hours of the mornings when passengers are going to bed. That was the case on Luminosa. I used to order fresh hand made pizza with the passengers having a snack on their way to bed.
  3. My daughter just texted me to say there were no showers in the Lounge at the airport. I texted her to say wet a washer to freshen up. She has already shifted from jungle mode (Thailand) to Manhattan mode and has twelve of thirteen theatre slots filled! I'm so envious. Looking forward to the live theatre on Virgin.
  4. YES the country people in Qld. didn't want the term peanut butter used. Peanut paste it was! I don't know what a nikko is and maybe I shouldn't ask.
  5. Yes port is short for portmanteau. You always had a referdex in the car. and an esky if you were going to have a picnic and a biro to write messages. I used to have a lot of young Japanese stay because my young daughter was learning japanese. Everyone spoke excellent English and no one wanted to speak Japanese. However, they spoke American English so were surprised when they couldn't follow the conversation.
  6. Yes they are having a good time. It is a fun ship. But there have been a problems with the ap and communication.
  7. I was old before my time, because of my grandmother. When we visited her aunt i was to be seen and not heard. After I had sat quietly listening for a period, i was given permission to play with the neighbour's children.
  8. I remember your workmates reports via you thanks Les.
  9. wifi is free on board. I have had a response to a question..
  10. Yes I'm following the ship currently cruising to Australia. I wondered if any Aussies on board followed this thread.
  11. Were you born in Queensland? It is Aussie slang, I was brought up by my grandmother who used a lot of old language from Britain. She was also a farmer's wife.
  12. Ute was bigger than a tilly (utility). Our tilly was the first small family car Can you imagine letting children sit on forms in the back? I had a flashback in Tahiti when the utility transport had a form in the middle of the back Another elderly uncle had a car with a small dickey seat in the back in which he carried his lawn mower to mow older people's yards. I loved that car which looked so posh to me.
  13. That was a good idea. I never think to ask for gravy to be in a separate bowl. Yes and as a result our tastes are different. On one cruise I went on, they had a special Indian Night. This was the food the staff ate and was very popular with passengers. On the last cruise I went on with Carnival Luminosa, they had indian meals you could choose for dinner. I choose those meals every time. On flights I always choose the food of the county of the carrier. Always delicious and a good choice. The western scrambled eggs look terrible, but I've never tried it
  14. Yes we had school ports, which got put on the school port rack, plus big ports for travel. Duchess is a bedroom dressing table. All children rode in the back of the tilly, on two sets of forms, plus 3 adults in the front. Tilly is a smalll ute.
  15. When Aussie dollar was better, I used to book with a US TA who worked from home for a big company and provided excellent efficient service. My cruises were all overseas and the cost was much less expensive than through an Aust. TA.
  16. Yes that is my language until this day. I wish I remembered all my grandmother's expressions. The ones which annoyed me I remember. I have great wheels on my port, so I don't have to carry it. Lifting it up for inspection is another question!
  17. I know what you mean. My first cruises overseas were on half world cruises. Most cruises don't come close to that experience.
  18. They had the red frogs on TV. They do a great job keeping an eye out for those who aren't schoolies
  19. My daughters are better than me. I put my port on the bed and put everything I plan to take beside on the bed. I then have to pass the third degree why I need this and that. We are not used to porters, so have to lug our luggage ourselves. I'm now at the stage that I request a wheelchair for the long distance alone. You can only put so much hand luggage between your legs. My purse sits on my lap. When the girls were young we used to travel with 8 large ports plus hand luggage (our entitlement). We only used used a porter in NY to take us to our booked seats on the train. The porter reverses the escalators, so we were all settled before other passengers knew the platform. Now that tip was a pleasure to give and money well spent!
  20. looks delicious what were the ingredients?
  21. My daughter is flying from Phuket to JFK NY on Thanksgiving. She is going to buy an extra large port in NY at a cost of $100 to bring all her purchases home.
