  1. LOL...only one S Class ship has been through Revolution...the Silhouette. Equinox had very partial one...that's it. We have no idea if or when other S class ships or 3 not yet Revolutionized M class ships will be updated. I was on Eclipse to Alaska in July and the condition of the furnishings was an embarrassment. Carpeting in some public areas including the gym reeked of mildew. Such a shame. I realize that the Revolution project is expensive and the corporation lost money during the pandemic, but would be nice to at least have a firm schedule for when these needed updates will occur.
  2. Enjoy your cruise! BTW Waves grill and Terrace Cafe are Oceania dining locations. On Regent it's La Veranda and the Pool Grill. 😄
  3. Hope you did not overpay! Dollar General is currently under investigation for repeated over charging at the register 😁
  4. Actually the "serve yourself in the Terrace" mentality does not just come from "Carnival or Princess types." We just returned from our first Regent cruise in several years. So interesting that Oceania is so strict about crew served food...no self service in the Terrace, while the entire equivalent buffet area on Regent is entirely self serve. Other than Ice cream service, you grab the tongs/spoons and serve yourself. Ironic IMHO that NCL's most upscale luxury product has an entirely self service buffet, while its mere premium product😁 is so strict about no self service.
  5. We just disembarked our second Regent cruise, although our previous one was 6 years ago. We too were blown away with the level of service. However, we are itinerary driven and will also continue to cruise Oceania often. We do like the option on Oceania for more casual but still excellent evening dining in the Terrace buffet area with lobster and steak options as well as many other wonderfully prepared choices. IMHO Regent ‘s conversion of buffet area to Sette Mari is a missed opportunity for a diverse casual but high quality evening dining option.
  6. Recommend highly tripinsurancestore.com. Owner of the agency Steve Dasseos and his team are super helpful at helping customers pick the best policy for their needs and also will aggressively help with getting claims processed.
  7. You are spot on! Revolution has stopped and it is a shame. Eclipse in July was clean but badly worn. Carpets in some public areas were badly worn and reeked of mildew. The couch in my suite was badly worn and broken down such that it reminded me of beat up furniture in my college fraternity house so many years ago. I was disgusted to see Celebrity PR team touting recent dry dock of Reflection with painting of hull and mechanical updates with no mention of needed soft goods update or even a projected date for it to be revolutionized.
  8. They will also give you the opportunity to have a new photo taken inncase you do not like the one you submitted.
  9. 8 p.m. Eastern U.S. time is better for U.S. but admittedly not for Brits. No time is perfect for everybody.
  10. True, but look at all the years we in the U.S. Eastern time zone have had to stay up until 12:01 a.m. Of course that is 5:01 for you Brits, so not much better!
  11. You are not even that close to the entrance to the stairway area. You will have a wall between you and the stairwell. IMHO you will be absolutely fine!
  12. I am a big Celebrity fan, however if this is your first cruise to Alaska I would advise you NOT to sail on Celebrity. Reason: HAL, Princess, and NCL all offer an itinerary that Celebrity does not. These lines have some itineraries which have National Park Service permission to sail through amazing Glacier Bay. IMHO it is a must see…indeed one of the most beautiful sights in the world. We have cruised there twice and found it amazing. BTW, we cruised on Eclipse a few months ago RT Vancouver and had a great cruise…but everyone should experience Glacier Bay at least once.
  13. I am finishing up similar 10 day itinerary on Mariner. We loved every aspect if our cruise except poor quality of enrichment sessions and entertainment could have been better. Dining service and food quality were flawless. We were given opportunity to complete lengthy questionnaire on line during last two days of the cruise. It was a fairly user friendly process with reasonable quality internet access for a cruise ship.
  14. No. We just did it standing by a regular table. Inconvenient but a small matter IMHO. Finished in 4 minutes and the rest of the check in process took 20 minutes. Not a big deal.
  15. For our cruise you fill it out first thing after you drop off luggage. It is on a table with pencils and too few chairs so lots of folks standing filling out the forms, pulling out their vaccine cards and squinting to read dates of both initial shots and boosters. Not ideal.
  16. I can answer for our cruise. Not true. On Oct. 15 Mariner embarkation in LA we had to fill out Covid vaccine information including dates of each shot and any symptoms or recent exposures to other active cases of Covid. When we handed in our paperwork we were given a red wristband to wear for rest of check in process. Interesting that no one looked at our covid vaccine cards. I presume that if we had not been vaccinated we would have been tested. We did take a covid test 3 days prior to our cruise as advised by Regent so that if we had later tested positive on the ship, Regent would have covered expenses not covered by our travel insurance. No one asked to see our negative test results, though.
  17. From more recent experience: Block parties are back. Had one on my current Mariner cruise..I believe it was day 3.
  18. Lack of itemized additional port fees may be small iota of candor in the otherwise most confusing and complex pricing structure in the cruise industry. Not itemizing port fees is beneficial to the cruise line however, specifically because it avoids need to refund fees for missed ports. I believe that the fees are itemized in invoices only the TA sees because my TA tells me they are subtracted out in calculating agency commissions.
  19. Just saw where Regent has changed dining reservation availability time from 12:01 a.m. on date resevations open to 8.p.m Eastern Time. For east coast U.S. residents no longer need for staying up late to get first crack at booking. Wonder if Oceania will do the same.
  20. Am experiencing Vero water for first time on Regent. One inconvenience is unavailability of easy to get water in the gym if you do not want to bring/forgot your metal bottle. Solved easily by quick walk to spa area where glasses are next to orange or cucumber flavored water or take glass to gym and fill glass with Vero water from the machine.
  21. Helpful to share the process. Interesting that when I embarked the Mariner in LA on Saturday no one asked to see our boarding passes!
  22. I am a guy, so will not offer fashion advice, but this is my second morning on Mariner and LaVeranda has been quite chilly (as in over airconditioned). I came upststairs for breakfast and went back to my cabin for a warmer shirt. Otherwise, enjoying my cruise very much.
  23. We just boarded Mariner this afternoon. We filled out form saying we have been vaccinated and indicating brand of vaccine and dates of both original shots plus booster. However no one looked at our documentation. We were given a red wrist band to wear during embarkation registration process...that's it.
