  1. Hi, from looking at video it appears that the premium (extended) balconies on deck 10 actually overlook deck 9. So that if one were to "fall" off the balcony, they'd land on deck 9's balcony. Is this correct? Also, does anyone know if cabin C312 is accessible? Princess says yes in text but no on the deck plan. Another website (not sure what I can and can't mention) that lists cruise deck plans says it was recently converted. Lastly, is C312 next to the laundry room? I can't seem to find those on any deck plans... TIA
  2. Wow...reviving a thread that was 9yrs old...is that a record?
  3. That's the rub. So many things you don't think about. There's a thread (several really, but one I started on X) that deals with gift cards and paying for your cruise. Seems like many (most? all?) insurance companies wont cover you for the portion paid with a GC. There are SOOOO many "exclusions" and no one reads the entire policy. Even when you do unless you're a contract lawyer or work in the industry it's hard to fully understand.
  4. I think the last item is the important one: Peace of mind. While you may have made out, the *vast* majority of policy holders will not. This isn't to say don't get insurance - I do and like I said peace of mind is the important part. Just want to make it clear that for almost all people you'll lose money getting insurance. Of course the one time you need it and don't have it, lol...
  5. If you are docked, T-Mobile has a much better plan. Basically free texting and surfing and $0.20 or $0.25 per minute for calling. However, this doesn't work when at sea. I thought the AT&T did work at sea, which would make it a better option for that...or am I mistaken?
  6. Hi, haven't sailed Princess before so the wifi options are a little confusing to me. Is there just one class of wifi service? On other lines there is a lower package that just allows texting and surfing and then a higher package that allows streaming. Does Princess have that? Ultimately I want to connect to my Ring doorcam at home. If this possible with the standard wifi that comes with Princess Plus? TIA
  7. This is exactly what we do. I only found one TA who would not give me this and I dropped them.
  8. There are others but nowhere near as good as MSCs. For example, X will match your RCCL status...but you still need to earn all of the points you would normally to move up to the next level. Sorry, just saw the original comment implied other than RCCL...ignore me 😀
  9. It is all small things...like free delivery of their medallions. The most recent is the change of Alfredo's to be no longer free, Like I said, all small...I'm sure HAL is cutting stuff too but I'm not aware of it. Lol, a more regular HAL cruiser could prob correct me.
  10. I don't think Princess is a good example as they have been cutting stuff too. Not a suite, but their Plus package recently changed to include more stuff...but only if you rebooked at the higher price. Then very recently they took away perks and took them from people who had previously booked the plus package when they were included...again, unless you bought the higher package. The former I can kind of see, but the latter is horrible. HAL however seems to have pretty good packages and perks... especially club Orange. At this point I cruise whoever has the best itinerary at the cheapest price point. Having loyalty is stupid since they don't have loyalty to you.
  11. This. The reality is that ALL cruise lines are changing. People, myself included, don't like change. If you look at any of the other major cruise line forums, you'll see the same complaints and the I'll never sail this cruise line again comments. But, people still do and people still have an amazing time...you will too!
  12. BTW, tone sometimes isn't carried well in text. I do appreciate you trying to answer my Q 🙂
  13. Yes, I understand this completely and AFAIK all cruise lines work this way, not just Princess. I didn't book this on Princess.com (used a TA), but even without that I can see multiple fare codes for Princess by using other sites (against T&C to mention them here, but several sites allow you to see this). Don't understand how that answers why Princess said I had to rebook instead of refare. I've done this a few times on different lines and except for MSC (which *always* makes you rebook) it seems "random" to me whether you can refare or renook. Perhaps it's the rep you get, or perhaps some TAs I use are better than others 🙂 Regardless, it made no difference to me then, and doesn't now other than curiosity. I didn't lose anything by rebooking instead of refaring.
  14. Sorry, i don't understand your response at all. It seems like you are trying to tell me why I had to rebook instead of refare? Or are you saying something else?
  15. First, I thought I made it clear that with all of the changes I'm unsure what perks I have...this is my main reason for calling. Second, there is a difference between rebooking and refaring. My point was I was unsure *why* I couldn't just refare and had to rebook - this is *independent* of the plus package. Lastly, I'm very appreciative to the OP and others on different threads that have made this point clear about old vs. new packages, but that being said, to be *sure* of what I have, I'm calling Princess...not sure why that would confuse or perplex anyone. Again, happy for the reassurances here, but I want to hear it directly from Princess (and I know, reps are wrong all the time so that doesn't guarantee anything).
  16. Yes, that is what I think but I'm still going to call to see exactly what I get. I'm honestly confused about the perks I have. And I bought it included in the fare. Like I said, I had the cruise booked, there was a massive price drop so I canceled and rebooked (not sure why they couldn't refare).
  17. Thank you so much for this. I got the email and only skimmed through the threads that talked about this - thinking I understood everything - so didn't realize this until reading this thread. The funny thing is I was just telling my wife that Princess is so confusing with what you get and don't get with these packages. I'm not a newbie cruiser (but haven't cruised Princess yet) and I'm completely confused by desserts, fitness classes, prix fixed menus, etc. I can't keep track of it all. Anyway, due to a price drop, I think we cancelled and rebooked in Feb of this year so *should* be good...but I'm not 100% sure, lol. Going to call Princess now to confirm what we have and don't have.
  18. The prices people are quoting is to upgrade...so they already have the standard wifi. You can toggle back and forth with a single package, but only one can use it at a time. Usually it is cheaper to buy the 2 package deal instead of two 1 package deals.
  19. It's instantaneous. You may need to exit the booking and come back in.
  20. Ty...I just got OBC for something that couldn't be canceled.
  21. The same thing happened to me. I had my TA apply 2k in cards and they applied 1600 and reduced the price by 400...which then affected his commission. He couldn't figure out why or even how X did that.
  22. Yeah, I'm the OP of that thread. You can definitely use it the way @SRQbeachgirl wants to. As for the no refund, a few people have now said that X will refund to a new GC. I suspect when they removed the 1k limit there was a lot of confusion on their end so maybe the policy has evolved a little. We won't know for sure until someone tries it 😀 One other thing to watch out for is it seems that some trip insurances will NOT cover portions of the trip paid with a gift card. We typically use nationwide and they said they *think* it should be covered, lol, but we called another and they said no. I think the issue is being able to prove you a) bought the card and b) actually used it to pay for the cruise.
  23. Enjoy and travel safely. What parts are you visiting?
