  1. Very well put. As the ships have gotten bigger, and there are so many more of them we will probably see more places decide they don’t want them. We don’t necessarily have a “right” to visit all these places by cruise ship just because we want to. I am one who also prefers sea days. We have taken many pacific coast repositioning cruises and as much as we have enjoyed our visits to the ports, we have also often done the shorter ones with All sea days or only one stop and find it much more relaxing.
  2. Likely sold out. I’ve seen cruises available for sale up to 3 days before sailing.
  3. We were on the Royal for Hawaii in January and I was pleasantly surprised at all the Hawaiian content and theming. Hawaiian music was always playing in the background in the MDR. Music in the Piazza, lei making classes, etc. As we got closer to the Islands, more Hawaiian themed clothing came out. I brought a number a few things I usually take on Hawaiian vacations. If you are interested in any of the classes, check the patter for sign up times and go early! Sign ups happened on the first day and then they were assigned class numbers. There were also great lectures on Hawaiian sea life, birds, etc. Once again, go early as they were often in the Princess Live theatre which was not large enough for all who wanted to attend. We watched most on our stateroom TV later. There wasn’t much Hawaiian themed food that I recall (unless in the buffet which we avoid), but our sailing ran out of a lot food items so was strange in that way.
  4. Thanks! I’m just trying to book MDR, not specialty. I’ll email our Celebrity cruise planner and see if she can help. I just like to not have the stress of making reservations, or hoping not to wait when on board. We do have a bid in for Aqua, so hopefully it will all be for nothing and we’ll be in Blu, lol.
  5. I’m wondering if it’s because we haven’t paid the gratuities? We didn’t book the all included. I know in the past you had to prepay the gratuities to choose the select. Not sure if this is still a thing? We don’t cruise Celebrity all that often. App says no availability, online I get the error when adding to the cart. Cruise is April 15th.
  6. I’m trying to do this now. When I try to book it says “adding to cart failed”. I guess that means there’s no availability? App didn’t give me any either.
  7. In Aqua class the basic package (and tips, etc) is almost always included and that includes the coffees. We had many coffees last time we were in Aqua, and a few cappuccinos in Blu. The exception would be if you got Aqua class through an upgrade bid or upgrade.
  8. Those are the chairs we had on the Emerald. I was disappointed that they didn’t have the classic steamer chairs. It was our first time on that ship, so I’m not sure if it ever had them. I’m guessing it is to make more room for walkers? On the Royal class ships they have some (below) but no promenade to walk of course. Enjoying following along on your adventure!
  9. We sailed on the Emerald from Southampton to Fort Lauderdale last November and had NO European or UK outlets in our stateroom (minisuite). We had our adapters after travelling in Europe for a couple of weeks and were counting on using them for extra plug in opportunities as most ships have too few outlets and at least one euro one. I was very surprised. On the Royal last week we did have a euro outlet, so it looks like Princess is not consistent across ship classes in this. You can pick up cheap adapters thru Amazon, or TK maxx, etc in the UK.
  10. We are currently midship on deck 8 and have been before and never smelled any smoke. If the ship is moving the smoke wouldn’t be able to waft forward anyway.
  11. Ruby is coming through the Panama Canal from Galveston and I would guess she has a lot of passengers staying on for B2B. Royal has been in SF all season.
  12. Thanks. Just tried with my VPN and no luck. Pretty much can’t use the VPN on the ship as it makes the terrible wifi unusable. I was able to log into my library and am reading my books online, so that will do for now. Thanks everyone for the helpful advice. In future I will make sure my wifi is logged out completely before opening Libby as it think that’s what messed it up in the first place.
  13. This. We bid on an instructed balcony, won it and got E602 ( I think). I kept watching and when it became available had our CVP change it to E 417 on the middle curve with a clear view out. It also has a slightly larger balcony.
  14. All good. Appreciate you trying to help 😊.
  15. It opens and I can read already downloaded content. I use it on planes without wifi and I usually don’t buy ship wifi. Obviously I can’t do anything else other than that on it. Sort of like watching downloaded Netflix without wifi. I’m actually wondering if this is what messed it up as I opened while still on extremely bad wifi, and it tried to connect and sync and failed.
  16. We are coming back from Hawaii via Ensenada. Arrive in Ensenada on Sunday afternoon. My app usually works without wifi on cruises though.
  17. Has anyone else had this issue on Princess? I’ve been using the Libby library app to read my books on numerous cruises but last night it stopped opening for me. I was using it this cruise with and without wifi reading my downloads. I tried deleting it and downloading it again from the App Store and still the same result. I went down to the Internet cafe today hoping they might have some insight, but he just did what I had already tried. Help! I have 4 more sea days and need my books, lol.
  18. We have had no problem getting the same table every night on all our Princess cruises in the last year and a half. I book 5:40 for every night in the app as soon as I can. By the third or fourth night the hosts tell us we can go right in to our table. One time I had a reservation for crown grill which I cancelled. When I asked our hostess if we could get our reservation back for that night in the mdr, she said “ Oh, yes ma’am. That is YOUR table. No one else will be seated there”. Most of our cruises have been less than half full, but our current one is over 80% full and still it is working well for us. I can see later reservations would have issues as they can’t be sure the table is vacated by previous diners, but anything up until 6 pm should be good.
  19. That’s right. Our booking still came under the old rules.
  20. I didn’t prepurchase because of the app pricing error. I waited until on the ship and they gave me the prepurchase price. They charged me $105.00 and then gave me a credit of $30.00 (15 day cruise). No CC involved as my OBC will pretty much cover all our expenses this cruise.
  21. I also had this issue and emailed Askoceanmedallion to have it corrected. My app wasn’t showing our platinum status. They replied a week later on the day we embarked that it was corrected, lol. Too late by then. I had screenshot the screen on the app not showing my discount and went to the Internet cafe when we got on the ship and they charged me the ship price and credited back an amount equal to pre purchasing it. This actually worked out better for me as we had quite a lot of OBC that I was able to use for it.
  22. I brought a bottle on board in France and again in Portugal. Brought both to our table in the MDR and we were never charged corkage either. Of course, we had the same waiter every night so he probably let it go. He got a nice tip at the end.
  23. I’m sure she has been called worse behind her back. Sadly we all reach the day when we are “ma’amed”!
  24. Yes, I can’t see them either, but I could this morning! I also couldn’t see some pictures in another posters “live from”.
  25. Thank you! Hopefully soon then. I’llfeel better re- buying onboard once I know the first one is refunded.
