  1. I have to agree with EmileG. I thought the guides and crew in the Galapagos with Celebrity were outstanding. They did a better job on the zodiac than what was done on my Viking Octantis, where things were actually a tad more laid back.
  2. Roy, sticking to your principles is good! I’m glad you were successful.
  3. I thank you all. I’ll switch to 3039. That was my initial guess.
  4. Thx for this input! Noise from the Atrium, I think you mean?
  5. Does anybody know what’s next to this stateroom, on the side towards the atrium? We had the choice of 3057, 3039 and 3063. I chose 3057, but I’m curious what’s just to the side that isn’t another stateroom.
  6. Great lesson, Travel R. Good point about her (Leah) possibly having been sick with a life-threatening illness. But does it not say who she’s the daughter of? I believe Hassan is a fairly common Sephardic surname, but this was not a traditional Sephardic headstone. Perhaps you’ve seen both types, in Barbados? We enjoyed using mega miles to fly business class, twice, to Australia!
  7. That wasn’t our guide for the private tour, just a member of the small congregation. Our guide pointed out the location, and of the memorial in the town square. Then after he took us to their stadium track (?), to Lindos, by the cemetery and to the statue of the Colossus, the tour ended. Then we went back into the walled city and visited on our own. It was a good private tour, arranged by somebody on my roll call thread. She wanted one other couple to join, which worked out great. The Turks took in the Jews of the Inquisition with open arms, just as the Dutch did. I loved when we got to do a cruise from Amsterdam to Istanbul, covering both bases!
  8. Thank you for finding and posting this one! I can understand the … French?! … much better than the Hebrew or the Greek. Or perhaps it’s Italian? Our guide inside the synagogue was the son of a survivor. If anybody ever docks at Zakynthos, their Jewish history during WWII, and afterwards, is unique. It includes two very special Righteous Gentiles who were the heroes.
  9. This has been so much fun to read! Thank you Sleep7, and everybody who chimed in. I’m so happy to see you made it into the cemetery on Rhodes. We had a private tour with one other couple, but the cemetery wasn’t open when we stopped by. Those headstones are difficult to read! Do you happen to remember if anybody knew what Leah Mazal Tov meant on one of them? And let me tell you, my friends and relatives who travel often in business class are delighted to share what their experience is like. I think they are aware how fortunate they are. Safe travels to everybody, and safe time at home, too. 😃
  10. I think the listing of events at the hotel desk onboard. That’s a good place to look, if you don’t receive an invitation in your stateroom (if you did sign up, and if they do indeed happen). Thx for telling us, valen9.
  11. Clay, in the time it takes to get from Amsterdam to Ushuaia, there’s enough time to get into shape!
  12. This particular trip, we were traveling with another couple. I think there were enough tables for two, and/or not enough parties of four to fill up the four-tops, so we would’ve been able to dine alone if we were traveling by ourselves.
  13. Moi aussi, por favor. What degree of doneness is the steak?
  14. Can we please see the degree of doneness?
  15. We call it Burger Monday. But it’s not tonight. Oh, nor is it Friday night
  16. You and KenzSailing are twins, born an ocean apart?
  17. Thank you for coming back with this great report! Enjoy.
  18. I suspect Keith knows how long his bags will sit, packed. Heck, in one’s mind’s eye, it’s a fantasy land. Nothing gets wrinkled; everything has an in-house duplicate, so I never am missing an outfit I want to wear; and in August/Sept, there aren’t too many locations where I won’t need clothes for a warm climate. It’s not like they’ll be doing NZ and Oz in Sept.
  19. Have a blast! I like the idea of not stressing, for sure.
  20. Cienfuegos, I believe I visited a city in Cuba which shares your name. Are you from there?
