  1. Since we've been on both ends of the many tipping processes over 30 years we're aware how rumours prevail. But as to your comment quoted above....How will they 'remove' what isn't there? You said grats will not be included in AI so that leaves it up to the cruiser to tip those they interact with, leaving out all those NOW included. No doubt the answers will be forthcoming officially.
  2. I cancelled 3 dining reservations then rebooked them at the reduced rate and at my 6pm time ...it wasn't showing before I tested the availability. Maybe it will help if you sign out and back in for a refreshed booking screen? Your prior booking may still be registered and not cancelled. Or you're missing an element in the booking procedure?
  3. I just have a concern re gratuities being removed from AI. With gratuities included we knew that servers, attendants, etc were receiving at least some grats and we would add to that for those we felt overextended themselves for us. Now, will some cruisers skip on grats? Will the galley personnel etc receive grats in some fashion? Will staff now question if/when they'll receive their grats? Will that non-inclusion affect their service or improve it? Will the cost of our cruise stay the same and the grats are still 'in there' hidden from us but still going to their staff? I'm sure X will have all the answers to these questions but will they share that with us?
  4. When we first sailed Celebrity, Horizon seemed to be a premium brand. Being a smaller ship with less passengers, the attention to even the smallest details...quality of service and menu, was possible and appreciated. Migration to the bigger ships changed our experience, some for the better...eg more entertainment, balconies for many, specialty restaurants ...but the 'little things' went by the boards. Now I'd say it's still bordering on premium but not quite there for those of us who've experienced the best days on X....IMO. Re balconies....the E class seems to have gone backwards...😉.
  5. Hopefully this is a nice restaurant area...we had to use the patio for dinner and the conference room for breakfast as they said this was on the way. When was this done? We were there last Nov. and really didn't notice any major construction.
  6. Sorry to hear......What happened that they were rude?? We've stayed numerous times without incident. Yes pricey, but most hotels around the pier, with any kind of restoration, are so we accept the increase(s) over time. Wouldn't put up with rudeness, but wouldn't condemn the hotel for it either. Speaking to senior mgmt might help OR a direct letter to President's Office (maybe file 'G') but sometimes they listen if you politely name names and occurrance.
  7. This is X IT 'normal'. Been that way for years. Takes about 2-3 days for the system to back out the tip charge from your total on the website. Just go by the booking confirmation you received. No point in deselecting the tip 'option'...it'll just go right back on until their accounting dept. aligns with Systems.
  8. Yes....most likely inventory. Our sailing has only a Celebrity Suite, a Sky and an Aqua available. And priced very high to bid.
  9. Maybe that's why. We're Elite plus...maybe they think they have us where they want us...sailing with them. You being a newbie...perhaps encouraging you to stay with them as long as us?
  10. I've never heard of a discount to bid. Do you know how you qualified for that?
  11. We were charged the extra gratuities at the same time the move up bid cost was deducted from Visa and yes, you're only charged the difference between what you've paid for your original cabin. We've never bid max for any suite, (bid twice, succeeded twice) but if you reallllly want it, no doubt they'll be happy to give it to you. Very few suites available on our Silhouette sailing so we don't expect to win the bid this time.
  12. And I say....each poster seems to want to up the ante on the prior poster proving they're smarter, funnier, wittier, more irate and it goes downhill from there. Doesn't seem possible to me that our cruising experience is ruined by a 'cookie charge' no one is forcing them to purchase, and projecting that to future cuts which will really diminish that experience to the point of no return. BTW...I've read here in the not-so-recent past from some posters it's their "last cruise on X" . They're still posting here and cruising with X. Something must be going ok for them or is it chic to be disagreeable and part of the crowd. I do have 'change' issues...like menu choice, quality of food, cruise cancellations. IMO these are worth registering with those who can do something about them (or not, then it's up to me to sail with them... or not).
  13. We were able to change cabins after winning the bid. Called the number on the bid confirming email after checking which cabins in that category were still open (if not on X site, then google "scanning the seas"). They were happy to make the change for us.
  14. Good message...thanks for starting the poll and providing the feedback....👍
  15. I can't say my standards relate to having chocolates on my pillow, but complaining about not having certainly would lower them.
  16. This will be an unpopular opinion.... I expect to be 🔥. There have been changes in the past, changes now, and will be more in the future. Any change seems to elicit a strong response on CC whether deserved or not and really takes on a life. This thread is now 15 pages over a cookies charge (go across to Al Bacio (sp?), to the OV, or ask your butler team to make the long walk for you) and/or their mini-bar water and drinks being charged to them in their SUITE. And actually visiting the Retreat Lounge for maxi water bottles so they can get them free. If one has the where-with-all to afford these suites, why would those few extra $$s be worthy of so many complaints? It's the cost of sailing now. If you want these food and drink items FREE make it known to the cruise line en masse. I'm sure they'd up the cost even more to oblige those few complaining and then all others sailing will pay more as well. Forgive me for saying....this seems to me to be a very petty topic IMHO.
  17. Just booking Marina and I read an article that the hump cabins were larger, or maybe it was balconies? I checked the O deck plans and they all look the same dimensions.
  18. LTH 28 answered...no confusion, but thanks for trying to point me in the right direction. BTW...do you know which A1 cabins on Marina are hump cabins? or are they PH?
  19. Or...change to another cruise line is an option. I'm 99% there.
  20. Yes, it must have been the Canadian forum....not sure but nice to talk again. I know you mentioned how much you enjoyed O so I directed my questions primarily to you as someone very informed.
  21. I think I know you haven't been on X....did we talk about you living near London? maybe I have the wrong poster. But thanks for your response.
