  1. Thanks. See my new post for details. I did make sure to have them marked "no upgrade".
  2. First of all we want to thank everyone who contributed to this thread. We got some great tips. So... I contacted our Cruise Vacation Planner and had her cancel the waitlisted 14-day Vancouver RT booking. When I got the cancellation confirmation, I did the math as the price was actually listed on it. It did not show up previously when I checked on the booking. It just said waitlisted. In fact, the two one-way bookings come out to $134 LESS than the 14-day! Plus we get our deposit for that booking credited back to our credit card AND we retain our $400 OBC for both north and south bound trips. All in all, a great decision made possible by Cruise Critic members. Thanks again.
  3. In fact, we are already elite, so not an issue. Congrats to you when you get there!
  4. We have 7-day cruises planned on Majestic Princess Vancouver to Whittier 6/10/23 and Whittier to Vancouver 6/17/23. We have the same cabin on both. We are also listed as the #1 standby for a combined 14-day trip, but we have no details like price, cabin, etc., just that it will be the same class of stateroom. Even though we have sailed many times on Princess, we have never done a B2B or combined sailing. Here are a couple of questions. 1. Is the combined cruise significantly cheaper? 2. Do we retain our OBC for both directions on the B2B? 3. Do we have to get off the ship in Whittier for either variation - one-way or B2B? 4. When should we expect to hear if we will get the combined trip and do we have the option to turn it down? Your insights are greatly appreciated.
  5. I just talked to my vacation planner at Princess. She was able to book us on Discovery for 9/14/2024. After that was done, I got an email about Alaska 2024 sailings, so maybe it is available now.
  6. I just logged in. I am elite. There are no prices for Aug/Sep 2024 for Alaska from Seattle or SFO.
  7. For us, travel to Vancouver is a very difficult and expensive affair. When we sailed on Majestic Princess in July 2022, we were exhausted by the time we got to our hotel in downtown Vancouver. We know we can easily fly to Bellingham, WA on Southwest, but have no idea about possible transfers or other means of travel to get from there to the cruise port. Do any CC members have information or tips about possible Princess transfers, buses, trains, or other shuttle/taxi services?
  8. On Enchanted the CC dining room is Capri on Deck 6 midship.
  9. We just got off Enchanted yesterday. We always book a CC cabin and have never regretted it. On Enchanted this week the CC staff was tremendous. We never had to wait, and we arrived at the dining room at about 6pm each evening. We were always greeted by name and taken to our table for four. After the first evening, they brought us our drinks of choice unless we asked for something different. We had the same folks taking care of us each morning for breakfast, and ordering off the menu was not a problem. Want fresh strawberries? You got it. More of the peppercorn sauce for the steak? You got it. We saw passengers who did not want to wait in the long lines for the MDR turned away repeatedly. I suppose some would call it snob appeal, but we love the service, the personal attention, and the ambiance of the quieter dining area. We were travelling with a couple who had their first CC experience and they have now booked two more. As someone else said, I would rather eat in CC than pay extra for the repeat dinners at the Crowne Grill.
  10. We just got off Enchanted yesterday. The menus were quite varied and in our Club Class dining room we always had options the could be ordered off-menu. I do not recall any flounder, but fish and seafood were part of every evening's selections. My wife doesn't get a lot of fresh seafood here in Colorado, so she gets it every day on the cruises. Don't be afraid to ask for something. What's the worst they can say? No? Enjoy your cruise.
  11. Have the mask requirements onboard changed, or do we still have to wear them everywhere?
  12. You sound rather skeptical. I view it as great news since we sail on October 1st - this Saturday.
  13. I just posted a new thread about the possibility that Canada is ending its requirements for ArriveCAN on September 30th. You can check out the responses I have been getting.
  14. I looked for one before I posted, but did not see it. Sorry for any confusion.
  15. Please check out this link that MSN posted from The Canadian Press: https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/canada/canada-ending-requirements-for-covid-19-vaccines-arrivecan-app-at-border-sept-30/ar-AA128tx9?cvid=f4f49b8d1b33463780503a2895bb200d
  16. I just read an article on Forbes Magazine's webpage that says Canada is expected to drop their requirements for vaccinations, quarantines, and will make ArriveCAN optional for visitors. Since we sail on October 1st, I am acutely aware that this could be a big deal for us. Hopefully, Princess will keep up with this news and end the testing requirements.
  17. It is not about privacy. It is about expectations based on many previous cruises.
  18. Why not have the few passengers who would want to take part OPT IN, not make people who booked with the expectation of a relaxing cruise have to opt out? I always try to avoid theme cruises and I would certainly cancel if I knew about this before final payment on a cruise.
  19. Okay. Here goes. An hour ago I got on my phone and went to the ArriveCAN app. I entered all the information like I was sailing this Friday and arriving in Halifax on Monday. I went through to the section about health entering all required info along the way. The app still retained all our vaccination info and dates from our August cruise from Vancouver to Anchorage. Once all that info was in, the site said "Fully vaccinated passengers no longer need to provide a negative COVID-19 test." I went on the Princess site and got on live chat. I do not know what I expected, but "Sophia" simply pasted in the link to the page that still shows the test required. I asked if anyone at Princess actually had read the ArriveCAN info, and she said to call 1-800-PRINCESS. Nothing like passing the buck. Am I missing something? Is Princess making this requirement on their own? Any info that I can get before our October 1st sail date would be appreciated. A LOT!!!
  20. We just got off the Majestic Princess and we will sail on Enchanted Princess on October 1st out of NYC. The hamburger grill on the Majestic offered a Lobster Roll for $15. Does the Enchanted also have the lobster roll on the New England sailings?
