I think you are misreading this. Any OBC listed with an * is non-refundable - you don't have any. Check the image in post #16 on the first page to see what I mean. If you had Shareholder Benefit listed it would have the * after it.

I'm sure some of the other cruise line benefits are good - but the few times we strayed from Princess (where we get a discounted fare from our TA that I haven't been able to get on another line, the $100 military OBC and the $100 shareholder OBC) we have found that the "discounted military" fares cost more than whatever special is going on at the time - and you can't get both - so we have ended up not using the "military" discount - so far.

The last two cruises we were on we traveled with two other couples who have only been on one or two Princess cruises - we are Elite. We made a bet on who would get through the check in quickest - both times they beat us by 5-10 minutes - and they are still laughing at us even after I flashed my black card and asked them DYKWIA??🙂

We were there a few years ago when all they had was the gift shop building that Princess built - and a zip line I think. We were on a 14 day cruise and I guess they needed fill in ports...

We have been away from cruising a couple of years - we're Elite on Princess. I was very involved in Roll Calls for years, and mostly disappointed. But there were times when we had great groups and made lifetime friends. Our issue was we almost always were cruising with friends who weren't on CC and had no desire to participate with any of the CC activities. Now we have booked two cruises later this year, are traveling by ourselves, and would welcome an active group - and both Roll Calls are extremely quiet. Maybe in another month or so 🙂

Since you said this is your first Princess cruise, and if you didn't already know, the "Dine" line a couple of people have mentioned is a button on your cabin phone that you can use to make reservations - it's normally best to do that as soon as you get access to your cabin before it gets jammed 🙂 Have fun!

My only concern with the waiting until you get on the ship option is that so many people are getting the free specialty dinners people have reported that once they get onboard the restaurants are booked solid already. I had the "TA" freebie that I knew wasn't from our TA and was able to book on the Medallion App - didn't ask for money and I have no idea if it used the credit. But that's easy to resolve onboard - if they are already booked that's not so easy 🙂

It's been a few years but when we went to Icy Straight Point the only thing there was the shops the cruise line built - not a good trade off for Skagway 😞

We have attended a few times over the years - but the drink specials are never anything we'd care for, and I really don't need a snack on my way to dinner - so mostly we pass on it unless we are with friends who want to meet up there. We have had them all over the ships (different venues) and the last few we did get a card in the cabin - but this was pre-Covid.

That caused me to go look at what I had booked for our Ruby cruise later this year 🙂 Fortunately I selected the other dining room - realizing of course it may be just as crowded - but I feel better 🙂

It all goes on your folio as you have experienced - and they will take out the "tips" until your OBC is gone and you'll start owing 🙂 They have had that wording forever and it's never really been valid.

I sent my request in by email - heard nothing for 3 weeks so re-submitted it last week and it was posted 2 days later (Dec 2022 cruise).

I guess after a couple of scares with ships getting back in port hours late I just got in the habit of giving myself some breathing room. Plus I have some mobility issues that are helped by a rest between legs of a trip. This will be the first time I've tried going longer than 3 hours (thanks to medical intervention) so the idea of disembarking from the ship, getting transportation to the airport, dealing with the airport, then a 12-14 hour flight made me think an evenings rest would be appropriate 🙂

I had received an offer for the new cruises out of Galveston for this Christmas and New Years. I didn't pay much attention until I received a follow up about it saying I had 2 days left to take advantage of it. That's when I realized the fare for our favorite aft facing corner balcony cabin with Princess Plus was the same as the regular fare! I booked the 11 day Christmas cruise 🙂

Greetings from another dinosaur! We currently don't have a smart phone but we do have an old cell phone my wife keeps in her purse for emergencies - and the odd company that insists on sending us a code by text so we can get in our account... That will probably change before our cruise in Sep since they tell me our old phone won't work when they switch to 5 G. But all that aside - we had company this past weekend and the wife had just been on a sister's cruise out of California and she said to order dinner at a table in the MDR you had to do it on your phone - that there were no paper or regular menus...She said if you didn't have a phone you needed to borrow one. I said that couldn't be... She said it was nuts - everyone at the table on their phones - just like home....

We're staying at the Crowne Plaza at LHR. I looked this afternoon and it appears there are test places in each terminal you can make reservations for - so I'll probably do that :-)

Going through much the same process since we are on the Southampton cruise 30 Sep. It looks like we can go to Walmart and get the NAAT test free on the 27th. Still haven't figured out how to test on the way home - we're spending one night in London so Princess won't do the test.

I originally sent in our request by email on May 14 for our 30 Sep cruise. I sent a follow-up email yesterday morning - and the credit showed up today.

As a 30 year Air Force veteran I encourage you to wear your ribbons - if anyone seems surprised it's a good chance to enlighten them that female vets have been serving for a long time!!!

Or get it back though the casino the last night.
