  1. We hope you aren't disappointed. Our experience has been that the meals on formal night are not that different than any other night. We just got off a British Isles cruise and did the steak house the first formal night and went to the MDR on the second formal night - and wished we had done pizza instead. Years ago we felt the formal night meals were a notch above, but not any more. But again - everyone has their own experiences. Have fun!!!!
  2. Transfer it from your room account to your casino account and cash out! Just did it last week :-)
  3. We just returned from a Princess British Isles cruise and were debating the Plus Package - did we break even. We are in our 70s and hardly ever drink at home. But on a cruise DW will want a Mimosa, a drink or two after an excursion, a couple of glasses of wine with dinner and maybe a drink after dinner. And every night we'd get a couple of double Baileys to take to the room. I'm guessing we broke even. And being Elite we got to bring home most of the mini bar miniatures πŸ™‚ We have the package on our next two cruises as well and since they are warm weather cruises I think we'll make sure to break even!
  4. Not really related to the subject - but I had to laugh when I saw that comment. We just returned from a British Isles cruise and our tour guide in Scotland had told me about his favorite scotch and that in fact he had a flask in the car and when we were finished with the tour I should taste it. Sure enough at the last stop he got out his flask, then a box from which he took out a small silver cup with handles on both sides and engraved inside the cup was "A Wee Dram." πŸ™‚ I'm a slow learner so he had to pour me two!
  5. I just bought $2500 worth of e-gift cards from AARP (not for Carnival) a few days ago and got them immediately. Since they have a monthly limit if I go back and try and buy more this month nothing works.
  6. Getting Carnival gift cards (say from AARP at a 10% discount) has it's benefits...
  7. I got $2500 worth from AARP for $2250 - and will get more next month. I receive the email instantly.
  8. Over the past several years whenever we were considering a Carnival cruise we were reminded about "Military" fares. But every time we checked the promotional fare of the day was always less than the Military fare - so it never got used and we never received Shareholder credit. Not apples to apples but on a booked 14 day Princess cruise we have $250 Military credit, $250 Shareholder credit and received a discounted fare along with OBC from our TA. We always check which works out better for us.
  9. We received a "bidding" email today for our Christmas cruise. I am really happy with our current cabin so it would take something great to get me to change. But out of curiosity, and seeing the prices Princess puts on each category I decided to go look at those categories of cabins on our cruise just to see what the real difference was (not that I don't trust Princess...). I really never did find out because none of the categories they wanted me to bid on (that I was interested in) were available! So now I'm wondering if they take everything off the availability list once they send out the bidding emails for the cruise - or if they just don't realize I'd be spinning my wheels bidding on cabins that aren't available....
  10. Yeah - that would be nice - but they didn't. I received the confirmation emails and on the pick up from Heathrow they provided great instructions. On the return trip - nothing but the confirmation. I emailed them asking what the procedure was for picking us up after the cruise and they responded I should contact the cruise line to determine disembarking details... I sent a follow up but haven't received a reply so far - it was just Friday.
  11. As a previous poster said you will be too far away from land most of the time to really make a difference. But for us, and we will be on a British Isles cruise in 2 weeks - we have an aft facing balcony cabin - so we can see on either side πŸ™‚
  12. Would you mind answering a question for me? We have Blackberry booked for our cruise the end of the month. First time. Today it dawned on me I have no idea how the pickup process works. The ship is supposed to arrive at 0600 but who knows when we'll be able to leave the ship. How have they arranged it when you used them?
  13. We booked both ways with Blackberry a couple of months ago for a cruise later this month. The price then was 128 and 126BP.
  14. We booked Blackberry a month or so ago to go to and from LHR to Southampton. It was 128BP to Southampton and 126BP for the return trip. We haven't used them before so I went on recommendations here and on TripAdvisor. I did just (today) email them with a question about the return trip and received a silly/non responsive answer so I had to send another email. I'll chalk it up to the weekend shift πŸ™‚ Have a great cruise!
  15. We also received the email and we have have three cruises booked - all with the "Plus" package. The email was referencing a cruise over Christmas that we were able to get an extremely great price for - so when I got this email I got concerned that maybe the price was so good because it didn't really include the "Plus" package - but I confirmed it did. Good work Princess......
  16. Thanks for the confirmation - I'm going to book it today :-)
  17. We are booked on that cruise and I'm here looking for something to do as well πŸ™‚ We've been to all the places a few times already and not water people - so not finding much - so far πŸ™‚
  18. We have done the hop years ago. Looking at website today I really only see one that looks viable - the original...is that the one everyone is talking about?
  19. Thank you! We had done the bar hop before and remember enjoying it - it will be our fallback option πŸ™‚
  20. You mentioned a tour around the island - and I looked at your blog to see if I could get any info on that and I missed it if it's there πŸ™‚ Was that an organized tour or did you go on your own? We are going back to Cozumel in December for the ??? time and this is the first time we've gone by ourselves. At 77/74 we have spent all the time at Nachi Cocum we need - although it was always fun. But we would like a land tour - we don't really need any more beach time or water activity - we'd just like to see the island - that's why your comment caught my eye πŸ™‚ Thanks.
  21. A quick related question. It's been 4 years since we cruised and the first under the Medallion system. The last time we cruised we had tickets left in our cabin for any tender ports we had - did they stop doing that with the Medallion? I haven't seen any reference to the tickets which is why I ask πŸ™‚ Thanks.
  22. This discussion goes on for years and years and always makes me go and look at the current regulations. I'm not one of the "I don't care what it says" kind of guy, and what I found this time really screwed with the only slightly considered plan to wear my medals on my suit coat. According to the latest AF regulation medals can only be worn (by retirees) in appropriate civilian clothes on military related holiday events (Memorial Day, Veteran's Day etc) or when invited solely because of your affiliation with the AF (which is the same limitation for wearing the Mess Dress). The other thing that was interesting is that there can only be one row - so pick which ones are the most important if you have several πŸ™‚
  23. Tokens? So should I tell my spouse to unpack the bag of quarters???
  24. I just have to laugh that it takes 65 responses to answer a simple question on CC. Ooops - make that 66!
  25. I'm glad you said that - we've never heard it either πŸ™‚
