  1. Oh, I think it's very apparent that s/he didn't realize it wasn't meant literally.
  2. Isn't the ship at least some degree safer without those 100 people? I don't know of anyone who believes the testing is an absolute solution. I think most people recognize that it helps and it's better than not doing anything at all.
  3. Would love to hear how the Intercontinental is these days, contemplating it for our November cruise.
  4. I've had that happen before. The real revolt happened on the flight I was on where catering failed to cater the ice cream 😉 At least you got notice ahead of time. We were told after we were in-flight.
  5. This doesn't make sense. If she is willing to go topless in public, why would it matter if people can peep on her balcony?
  6. I can't believe the people in this thread making excuses or otherwise seemingly trying to justify a cruise ship being out of a type of spirit. I understand all the supply chain issues, but, if NCL is going to insist on Just In Time provisioning they put themselves at risk of not having what they need. Now that it's happened, I would hope they are adjusting their model and they start stockpiling so it doesn't happen again. Although I doubt they are.
  7. what is the $100 OBC? If you reserve a cabanna for $260, you get $100OBC so net cost is $160?
  8. It's been said, but, I'll repeat because it's important: check the Cruise Critic Alaska forum. I organized almost all our tours based on information in that forum.
  9. Related question - When I bought CNCs back in 2018, I thought we were told that we could always use two if we booked balcony and above 6 months out. I dont recall that we needed to look for special offers. Am I misremembering? I was able to use both a couple months ago when I booked a balcony 6+ months out, I have no idea if I was taking advantage of a special offer or not.
  10. If you read the review it states the open bar is very limited to 4 types of mixed drinks.
  11. do you recall where or how you booked online?
  12. This is kind of interesting point to me. I was an engineer for many years in the Navy's lead underwater sound lab. Our focus was on finding and identifying big objects in deep water (e.g. Soviet boomers) a problem that they had solved but we continued to improve upon. As the cold war ended, and smaller regional crises became the focus, the focus started to shift to finding small objects in shallow water. It was about that time that I left the lab and defense work. That was 30 years ago. I guess they never really solved that problem?
  13. This is interesting considering the ship was at 60% capacity.
  14. Despite what "Amber" wrote, I suspect you'll get some amount of port charges back. I hope you come back after the cruise and let us know.
  15. @LGW59How many fractured wrists have you seen and dealt with? I suspect not many or maybe none. I've seen and managed a lot. You might be very surprised at how little pain is associated with many of them. Sometimes people need to be pushed very hard to have it seen and x-rayed and then they are shocked to learn it's actually fractured. I fully understand the lack of urgency on the part of the OP. I've seen it first hand dozens of times.
  16. Nov 2017 was last time we were there and I thought I remember that we were able to use the Shire Excursion credit.
  17. How to say "We're a low budget cruise line" without actually saying "We're a low budget cruise line". I'm sorry, but not having something like Bailey's is just wrong. Rumour is they don't have Captain Morgan either. Sheesh.
  18. Wow - so you are saying the clamshells are no longer considered an excursion, so, the $50 can't be used to pay for them? Congratulations NCL, you found another way to nickle and dime us.
  19. Not always is free-at-sea tied to getting to pick your room. I booked a BB category on Encore in November 2022 with no perks and got to pick my room. Saved myself $700 after factoring in the cost to purchase a 2 meal package and internet. We hardly drink and seldom do ship excursions, so no savings there.
  20. Wait till you get on the ship. It's something they are very good at and very inventive at finding new ways to do it.
  21. Looks OK to me, airfare's been going up to cover the high cost of fuel...
  22. Only you can answer this question. I personally find the MDR food to be generally not good. I prefer more Specialty dining nights. Think of the MDRs as low end national chain quality (i.e. Applebees). If you are OK with that quality, then you'll be good, if you are not, buy more Specialty Dining.
  23. Yeah, food is inconsistent, at best, no argument from me. But now we're straying off topic. My point was a response to the statement that seemed to imply one could get the same NY strip in either the MDR or Cagneys and therefor people pay to go to Cagneys just for the change in venue. That implication (which I disagree with) was used as an example to explain why people got to American Diner and pay for the same hamburger that they can get for free anywhere else on the ship.
  24. Comparing the NY strip in the MDR to the strip in Cagneys is ridiculous. The OP was asking why someone would pay for something at American Diner when you can get the exact same item for free elsewhere. Certainly you aren't saying the strip in Cagneys is the same as you would get in the MDR?
  25. Although it's been a couple years now, I also bought some Ulu knives and I'm pretty sure they were not confiscated from me.
